To complete the Obelisk quest in Brighter Shores, recover Commander Hackett’s key from the Goblin Thief, restore the Obelisk’s Downspike, solve the four-post sigil puzzle, then bring Anjay Sandorman to the Obelisk before tuning the swords. This walkthrough follows the Hopeport, Episode 1 quest steps documented in 2024; the game is Early Access, so follow current in-game prompts if its objectives or menus differ.
Before you start
The quest takes place in Hopeport, Episode 1. GamesFuze’s November 2024 walkthrough says it becomes available after the tutorial when you receive the Level 60 quest. Begin at the Town Gates and speak with Commander Hackett. The game remains in Early Access, where features may change; see the Steam listing. Fen Research also described a planned change to replace tuning with enchanting in the Obelisk quest, but that update does not establish that the change shipped. If your current quest text or Obelisk menu differs from the steps below, use the active in-game instructions. (GamesFuze; Fen Research update)

How to complete the Obelisk quest
1. Speak with Commander Hackett
At the Hopeport Town Gates, speak to Hackett and choose the dialogue option that mentions Corporal Binns said Hackett needed help. A scene starts, and a Goblin Thief steals Hackett’s key.
2. Defeat the Goblin Thief and return the key
Track down and defeat the Goblin Thief, pick up the dropped key, and take it back to Hackett. The quest trigger calls for the Goblin Thief: GamesFuze cautions that defeating a Goblin Chief does not count as a substitute. Hackett opens a chest and gives you two Untuned swords, then sends you to the Hopeport Obelisk. (GamesFuze; Dot Esports)

3. Find the missing Downspike
The Obelisk is southwest of Town Square. Try to tune the swords there; Corporal Merissina explains that the Obelisk cannot work because its Downspike is missing. Head to Willhope Crossing and retrieve the Downspike from the river near the bridge. Dot Esports describes going north from Town Square over Eel Street Bridge, then left toward the bridge near Sandy Pufferfish; enter the water and use Sense to reveal the item. Routes can vary with the current game, so use the map and quest marker if needed. Return to Merissina at the Obelisk. (Dot Esports; GamesFuze)
4. Inspect the tablet and get the Sigil Tiles
Use the Downspike on the Obelisk. The first repair attempt fails, and Merissina gives you an Instruction Tablet. Open it from the quest icon and inspect the sigil diagram, then speak to Merissina again. Go to Naybeth’s house near the Town Gates and ask Naybeth to interpret the tablet; Naybeth gives you four Sigil Tiles. Take them back to the Obelisk. (GamesFuze; Dot Esports)

5. Place the tiles on the four Ancient Posts
Find the four Ancient Posts around the Obelisk and place one Sigil Tile at each, matching the symbols shown on the Instruction Tablet. GamesFuze notes that north is at the bottom of the tablet’s diagram, so do not assume the top of the image is north. The written walkthroughs do not provide a dependable symbol-by-symbol transcription; match the symbols against your in-game tablet instead of guessing. Once the arrangement is accepted, a Cryoknight appears. (GamesFuze; Dot Esports)
6. Bring Anjay to the Obelisk and tune the swords
Speak with the Cryoknight. The repair cannot proceed because Hopeport’s Magic Suppressor blocks the required magic. Find Anjay Sandorman at the Training Ground and tell him a Cryoknight needs magic access. Follow Anjay back to the Obelisk and continue his dialogue until it is exhausted. Then interact with the Obelisk and use the Downspike again. Choose Tune Item and tune both swords. Finally, return to Hackett at the Town Gates and report your success. (GamesFuze; Dot Esports)

Quest reward
GamesFuze reports that the reward is one Uncommon Wall Guard’s Sword and 10,600 Guard Profession XP. That figure is the guide’s reported reward, not an independently verified measurement. The Hopeport Obelisk is also made available for tuning Untuned items, according to the walkthroughs. (GamesFuze; Dot Esports)
