In OBS Studio, add two Text sources—one for the church name and one for the Bible verse—then position them above the sermon video in the Sources dock. For Hindi text, choose a font with Devanagari support and verify the exact passage in the stream preview before going live. A static verse can be typed into OBS; a verse that changes between services can be read from a text file.
Add the church name and Bible verse in OBS
- Open or create the sermon scene. Select the scene used for the stream, or create a dedicated scene for the sermon.
- Add the church-name source. In the Sources dock, select +, choose Text, and name the source “Church name.” Choose a font and color, then enter the church’s exact name. OBS describes these as text renders for a stream or recording layout: OBS Text Sources guide.
- Add the verse source. Add another Text source and name it “Bible verse.” Enter the verse reference and text directly, or enable Read from file if an operator will update the verse between services. Choose a font that supports Devanagari for Hindi text.
- Place both sources above the video. Select each source in the Sources dock and drag it in the preview to position and resize it. A source higher in the list is composited above sources below it, so keep both text sources above the camera or video source. See the OBS Sources guide.
- Check the real output. Preview or record the actual scene and inspect the Hindi passage for conjuncts, matras, punctuation, line breaks, scaling, and legibility. Font metadata can identify script coverage, but it cannot confirm that the font is installed on your computer or guarantee how a particular OBS build renders it.
Choose a font and test Hindi rendering
Noto Sans Devanagari UI is one font to test: its Google Fonts metadata lists Devanagari coverage and Hindi as a supported language. Make sure the font is available to your operating system; if it does not appear in OBS’s font picker, install it and reopen OBS. Then check the exact Hindi text in the scene and in a recording or stream output rather than relying on the font listing alone.
Choose the right OBS source for updates
Text source for straightforward overlays
The built-in Text source is a practical choice for a church name and a verse entered directly or read from a local text file. A local file lets an operator change text between services without redesigning the scene. Confirm that the file contains the intended verse and formatting before the service.
Browser Source for an HTML overlay or control panel
Use a Browser Source when the overlay needs HTML/CSS, a local page, a web page, or a separate control panel. OBS’s Browser Source guide documents loading a local file or specified URL and setting viewport width and height; custom CSS defaults to a transparent background, which suits overlays. A URL-based page depends on that web content being available, while a local text source or file avoids that particular dependency. This is an operational distinction, not a measured reliability comparison.

Optional Bible display software
The OBS forum resource for the Firstfruits Studio Bible Plugin describes a browser-source link and presents it as a Bible solution designed for OBS. Treat it as an optional route, not a requirement. The listing does not establish Hindi translation availability, current maintenance, or permission to retransmit the translation you choose; confirm those points before relying on it.
Position the text for a readable sermon stream
- Put the church name in a stable corner or a narrow lower-third area, and reserve a separate uncluttered area for the verse.
- Check the text against changing camera imagery. Use sufficient contrast or a restrained backing panel if the background makes the lettering hard to read.
- Verify both overlays at their final preview size. Long Hindi lines may wrap or become difficult to read after resizing, so inspect the complete passage rather than only a short sample.
- Keep the text sources above the video source in the Sources list; otherwise, the camera or video may cover them.
These are layout recommendations, not OBS-mandated settings. Adjust the position and size in the scene preview and judge the result in the actual output.

Check the Hindi Bible translation’s permissions
Before displaying scripture publicly, identify the exact Hindi translation and read its terms for livestream display, copying, and required attribution. Permissions are translation-specific.
- The Bible Society of India EULA grants personal, non-commercial, spiritual, and educational platform use, and prohibits copying, modifying, reproducing, or distributing content without prior written permission. It also prohibits commercial use without consent. Do not treat these terms as applying to every translation.
- The Indian Revised Version Hindi PDF on eBible.org states that users have permission to share and redistribute that translation. Read the PDF’s complete license statement for conditions and attribution; this permission does not transfer to other versions.
If the terms for your chosen version are unclear, ask the rights holder before putting its text on a public stream.

Troubleshoot common overlay problems
Hindi letters, matras, or conjuncts look wrong
Test a font with Devanagari coverage, such as Noto Sans Devanagari UI, and inspect the exact passage in the scene output. A font’s metadata is not proof that it is installed or renders correctly in your OBS build.
The overlay is hidden behind the camera
Move the Text source higher in the Sources list so it is composited above the camera or video source.

The verse is too small, wraps awkwardly, or disappears against the image
Resize and reposition the source in the preview, then inspect the entire passage against the scene’s changing background. Adjust line breaks and use adequate contrast or a restrained backing panel if needed.
Changes to a file do not show as expected
Confirm that the Text source is configured to read the intended file and that the file contains the updated verse. Recheck the scene preview before going live.

A Browser Source overlay is blank
Check whether its local file or specified URL is available and confirm the Browser Source viewport dimensions. If it relies on remote content, that content’s availability is a dependency; a direct Text source or local text file is a simpler alternative for a fixed verse.
