That solves the console-side connection. It does not, however, create a supported browser-gaming setup: PlayStation’s PS5 FAQ says the system has no dedicated web browser app, and its accessory documentation does not promise that a browser game will accept keyboard, mouse, or controller input.
Use the steps below to configure the peripherals correctly, verify whether the console recognizes them, and understand what the setup can—and cannot—do. The practical distinction is important: pairing an accessory with the console and getting that accessory accepted by a particular application are two separate steps.

What the PS5 officially supports
PlayStation documents three relevant connection paths. USB keyboards and mice can be connected directly to the console. Bluetooth keyboards and mice can be paired from the Bluetooth Accessories menu. A DualSense controller is initially paired with a USB cable and then can be used wirelessly after it has enough charge.
| Device | Connection documented by PlayStation | Where to configure it | What is not established |
|---|---|---|---|
| Keyboard | USB or Bluetooth | Settings > Accessories; Bluetooth devices under Settings > Accessories > General > Bluetooth Accessories | That a browser game will recognize keyboard input |
| Mouse | USB or Bluetooth | Settings > Accessories; Bluetooth devices under Settings > Accessories > General > Bluetooth Accessories | That a browser game will recognize mouse input |
| DualSense controller | USB for first pairing, then wireless | Connect with USB and press the PS button | That a browser game reached through any feature supports controller input |
Compatibility is device-specific. PlayStation Support warns: “Not all devices work with your console.” A keyboard or mouse appearing in a Bluetooth scan is therefore not proof that every function will work. A device may be visible to the console yet fail to complete pairing, or it may pair while particular keys, buttons, or pointer functions remain unavailable.

Think of the support information as a console-level promise, not a universal promise for every application. PlayStation tells you how the PS5 communicates with the accessory and where to change settings. It does not state that every game, web page, or browser-like interface will read those inputs.
Before you connect anything
Decide first what you are trying to control. A keyboard can be useful for text entry and menu navigation, a mouse can provide pointer control where the software supports it, and a DualSense is the ordinary PS5 game controller. Those uses should not be confused with browser gaming, which requires both a way to reach web content and software that accepts the device.
Check the accessory manufacturer’s documentation for PS5 compatibility before buying or pairing. This is especially important for Bluetooth products, because PlayStation says an incompatible device can still appear in the discovery list. A product’s marketing description, lighting features, extra macro keys, or gaming branding does not establish that those functions work on PS5.
Recommended Free Tools
If you are choosing between connection types, compare the practical details rather than assuming one is better for browser games:
- USB: usually the shortest setup path because you plug the device into the console, but it leaves a cable running to the PS5.
- Bluetooth: avoids the cable after pairing, but requires pairing mode, discovery, and a device that the PS5 actually supports.
- DualSense: uses USB for first pairing and can then be disconnected for wireless console use.
No keyboard, mouse, or controller model has been verified here as a guaranteed browser-game solution. If you shop for an optional accessory, use the manufacturer’s confirmed PS5 compatibility, the connection method, and your intended console use as the criteria. Do not pay more for a gaming model on the assumption that its label makes browser input work.
How to connect a USB keyboard or mouse to PS5
USB is the simplest method because it does not require a Bluetooth discovery or pairing step.
- Turn on the PS5.
- Plug the keyboard or mouse into a USB port on the console.
- Wait for the PS5 to recognize the accessory.
- Open Settings > Accessories > Other Accessories to review the available keyboard or mouse options.
Try the device in a PS5 menu after connecting it. This gives you a clean test of the physical connection before you involve a particular game or application. If a keyboard produces no response, reconnect the plug and check whether its options appear under Other Accessories. For a mouse, move the pointer in a menu and then review the mouse settings.
The support documentation exposes separate controls for each type of device.

Keyboard settings
- Language: choose the keyboard language or layout that matches the physical keys. A mismatch can make a key produce a different character from the symbol printed on the keycap.
- Key repeat delay: adjust how long a key must be held before repeating begins.
- Key repeat rate: adjust how quickly a held key repeats.
These are console keyboard options. They help the PS5 interpret typing and held-key behavior, but they do not tell a game to support keyboard controls.
Mouse settings
- Handedness: select the appropriate left- or right-handed arrangement where the option is available.
- Pointer speed: set how quickly the on-screen pointer moves.
Pointer speed is useful when the cursor feels too slow or too fast in a supported interface. It is not a compatibility switch. If a game does not accept mouse input, changing pointer speed will not make it do so.
You may also reach accessory controls from the PS5 control center. The exact controls shown depend on the accessory that is connected. If the menu does not expose an expected option, that absence should not be treated as proof that a web game will provide the missing control.
How to pair a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse with PS5
Bluetooth pairing requires the accessory to be discoverable. Put the keyboard or mouse into pairing mode using the procedure in its own manual before opening the PS5 menu. Some devices have a dedicated pairing key; others require holding a button or selecting a Bluetooth channel. Use the device’s instructions rather than guessing.
- Put the keyboard or mouse into pairing mode.
- On the PS5 home screen, open Settings > Accessories > General > Bluetooth Accessories.
- Wait for the device to appear in the discovered-device list.
- Select the device name.
- Complete any confirmation shown on the PS5 or on the accessory.
- Check the Registered accessories list and confirm that the device is shown as connected.
If a previously paired device does not reconnect, open Registered accessories, select the device, and choose Connect. That is the documented recovery action for a registered accessory that is not currently connected.
Seeing a device is not the same as supporting it
PlayStation states that incompatible products may still appear in the Bluetooth list. The discovery screen therefore answers only one narrow question: the PS5 detected a Bluetooth device advertising itself. It does not certify that the PS5 can use every key, switch, wheel, extra button, or operating mode on that device.
If pairing fails, or if only some controls work, consult the device manufacturer’s documentation rather than assuming that the PS5 scan guarantees compatibility. Test basic input in the PS5 menus, then note exactly what works and what does not. That distinction is more useful than repeatedly rescanning the same unsupported device.

Bluetooth avoids a cable between the accessory and console and is useful when the USB ports are occupied. It adds a pairing step and leaves compatibility dependent on the individual device. For a setup that must work without wireless discovery, use a USB keyboard or mouse whose manufacturer explicitly lists PS5 support.

- Low profile keys for a more comfortable and quiet keystroke, desktop-centric design, splash resistant
Bluetooth also creates a separate reconnection task after the initial setup. If the accessory is registered but idle, use the Registered accessories list and choose Connect. Do not infer from a successful first pairing that every later application will automatically use it.
How to pair a DualSense controller
The standard first-pairing procedure uses a USB cable.
- Turn on the PS5.
- Connect the DualSense controller to the console with a USB cable.
- Press the PS button on the controller.
- After the controller has enough battery charge, disconnect the cable.
- Continue using the controller wirelessly.
The USB connection and PS button establish the controller with the console. Leaving it connected until it has enough charge gives you the documented route to wireless use. If the controller does not pair, repeat the sequence from the beginning: console on, cable connected, then PS button.
This procedure establishes the controller with the console. The instructions do not establish that a controller will be accepted by a browser game, so treat pairing and browser compatibility as separate questions. A working DualSense in the PS5 home screen demonstrates console pairing; it does not demonstrate that web software will receive its buttons, triggers, or analog-stick data.
Can you play browser games on PS5?
Not through a documented, dedicated PS5 browser workflow. PlayStation’s official PS5: The Ultimate FAQ answers the web-browser question with: “No, the PS5 system doesn’t include a dedicated web browser app.”
That limitation matters more than the accessory connection itself. The keyboard-and-mouse support page explains how to connect peripherals and change console settings; it does not describe browser-game input behavior. The controller instructions explain how to pair a DualSense; they do not say that browser software will receive its buttons or analog-stick data.
Consequently, connecting a keyboard, mouse, or controller is useful for supported PS5 menus and games, but it is not evidence that an online game designed for a web browser will run or accept those inputs on the console. Do not treat an unofficial route to a web page, or a browser-like screen reached through another feature, as a PlayStation-supported browser-gaming method.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThis is why the most accurate answer to “How do I connect a keyboard and mouse to PS5 for browser gaming?” has two parts. First, follow the official accessory steps so the console can recognize the device. Second, verify the platform and application separately. If there is no dedicated browser and no documented input path, the connection alone cannot supply one.

What the official statements do and do not say
- PlayStation Support documents USB and Bluetooth keyboard and mouse setup.
- PlayStation Support documents USB-first DualSense pairing and subsequent wireless use.
- PlayStation Support says, “Not all devices work with your console.”
- PlayStation’s FAQ says, “No, the PS5 system doesn’t include a dedicated web browser app.”
- None of those statements promises that a browser game accepts an otherwise recognized peripheral.
Check the setup before blaming the game
Separate the problem into two tests: whether the PS5 recognizes the accessory, and whether the software you are using supports that type of input. This prevents a browser limitation from being mistaken for a defective keyboard, mouse, or controller.
Test 1: confirm the console sees the accessory
- For USB, confirm the cable is firmly connected and revisit Settings > Accessories > Other Accessories.
- For Bluetooth, confirm the device is in pairing mode, select it from Bluetooth Accessories, and check Registered accessories.
- For a DualSense, repeat the USB connection and press the PS button.
- Use a simple PS5 menu action, such as typing where text entry is available or moving the pointer, to distinguish recognition from game support.
Test 2: confirm the software supports the input
A recognized device can still be ignored by a particular game or application. The official setup material does not provide a universal statement that browser software accepts these inputs. If the PS5 menus respond but the game does not, the missing support may be in the software rather than in the pairing.
Do not use a successful Bluetooth scan, a visible keyboard setting, or a charged DualSense as proof of browser support. Those observations confirm only the console-side step. The software must independently implement keyboard, mouse, or controller input.

Troubleshooting common connection problems
| Symptom | Likely point to check | Action |
|---|---|---|
| The USB keyboard or mouse produces no response | Connection or device compatibility | Reconnect the USB plug, open Settings > Accessories > Other Accessories, and verify that the accessory is recognized. If it is not, check the manufacturer’s PS5 compatibility information. |
| The Bluetooth device never appears | Pairing mode or discovery state | Put the accessory into pairing mode according to its manual, then scan again under Settings > Accessories > General > Bluetooth Accessories. |
| The device appears but will not pair | Compatibility | Seeing the name in the scan does not guarantee support. Consult the device documentation and try a model confirmed for PS5 use. |
| A paired Bluetooth device does not reconnect | Registered-accessory connection state | Open Registered accessories, select the device, and choose Connect. |
| The keyboard layout feels wrong | Language setting | Open the keyboard options under Settings > Accessories > Other Accessories and select the matching language or layout. |
| Pointer movement is too slow or too fast | Mouse pointer-speed setting | Adjust pointer speed in the mouse options under Other Accessories. |
| A DualSense will not pair for the first time | USB pairing sequence | Turn on the PS5, connect the controller with USB, and press the PS button. Leave it connected until it has enough charge before switching to wireless use. |
| The accessory works in PS5 menus but not in a browser game | Application support, not necessarily pairing | Do not infer browser-game compatibility from console recognition. PlayStation’s official material does not document a standard browser-game input path on PS5. |
| Only some keyboard keys or mouse controls work | Device-specific support | Check the manufacturer’s documentation. PlayStation’s warning that not all devices work means partial behavior should not be treated as a guaranteed feature set. |
| A gaming accessory’s extra features are unavailable | Function-level compatibility | Confirm which functions the manufacturer lists for PS5. A device can connect without every specialized control being supported. |
These checks intentionally stop at the console boundary. There is no supported troubleshooting step that can turn an unsupported browser or web game into a documented PS5 feature.

| Consideration | USB | Bluetooth |
|---|---|---|
| Initial setup | Plug in the accessory; no discovery step | Put the accessory in pairing mode and select it from Bluetooth Accessories |
| Cable | Requires a cable connection to the console | No cable to the console after pairing |
| Compatibility check | Still depends on whether the device works with PS5 | A device can appear in the scan even when it is not compatible |
| Recovery if it disconnects | Reconnect the USB device | Select it under Registered accessories and choose Connect |
| Best reason to choose it | Fewer setup steps and a direct physical connection | A cable-free console area after pairing |
Neither connection method changes the browser limitation. Choose based on reliability, cable preference, and confirmed PS5 compatibility—not on an assumption that wireless input is more likely to work in a web game.
For an optional shopping decision, compare the manufacturer’s PS5 compatibility statement, whether the item is USB or Bluetooth, and the console tasks you actually need. A generic USB keyboard or USB mouse is a defensible accessory choice because PlayStation documents USB connectivity, but neither product should be advertised as enabling browser gaming. No particular model is confirmed here.
A practical setup checklist
- Decide whether you need a keyboard, mouse, DualSense, or a combination.
- Check the manufacturer’s documentation for PS5 compatibility before buying or pairing an accessory.
- Choose USB if you want a direct connection with no Bluetooth discovery step, or Bluetooth if avoiding a cable matters more.
- For USB devices, connect them and inspect the options under Settings > Accessories > Other Accessories.
- For Bluetooth devices, use pairing mode and Settings > Accessories > General > Bluetooth Accessories.
- Confirm a Bluetooth device appears under Registered accessories and use Connect if it does not reconnect.
- For a DualSense, complete first pairing with USB and the PS button, then disconnect after it has enough charge.
- Adjust keyboard language, key-repeat behavior, mouse handedness, or pointer speed if needed.
- Test the accessory in PS5 menus before troubleshooting any particular game.
- Check the specific game or application for input support instead of relying on console recognition.
- Keep expectations realistic: accessory pairing is documented, but a dedicated PS5 browser and browser-game input support are not.
What this setup is—and is not
The documented outcome is a PS5 that recognizes a compatible keyboard or mouse over USB or Bluetooth, or a DualSense paired for wireless console use. That can improve navigation and support PS5 software that explicitly accepts those devices.
It is not a documented method for turning the PS5 into a general-purpose web browser or for guaranteeing that browser games will load and accept external input. If browser gaming is your primary goal, verify that the specific game and platform officially support PS5 before investing in accessories.

PlayStation’s own compatibility warning should remain the final hardware check: “Not all devices work with your console.” Its FAQ’s browser answer should remain the final platform check: “No, the PS5 system doesn’t include a dedicated web browser app.” Together, those statements explain why a carefully paired accessory may still be unable to deliver the browser-gaming experience you expected.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I connect a keyboard and mouse to PS5?
For USB, plug each device into the PS5 and review its options under Settings > Accessories > Other Accessories. For Bluetooth, put the device in pairing mode, open Settings > Accessories > General > Bluetooth Accessories, select it, and confirm it under Registered accessories.
How do I pair a Bluetooth keyboard with PS5?

Can you play browser games on PS5 with a keyboard, mouse, or controller?
PlayStation’s PS5 FAQ says the system does not include a dedicated web browser app. Connecting a peripheral therefore does not establish a supported browser-game workflow or guarantee that web software will accept its input.
Why does my Bluetooth device appear but not work?
PlayStation says incompatible devices may still appear in the Bluetooth list. Visibility is not proof of compatibility. Check the manufacturer’s PS5 support information and test the device in PS5 menus.
How do I connect a DualSense controller for wireless use?
Turn on the PS5, connect the DualSense with a USB cable, and press the PS button. Once it has enough charge, disconnect the cable and use the controller wirelessly. This pairs it with the console, not necessarily with browser software.
Does a gaming keyboard automatically work for PS5 browser gaming?
No. PlayStation documents compatible USB and Bluetooth keyboard support at the console level, but it does not promise that a browser game will accept keyboard input. Confirm both device compatibility and application support.
