From the Map view, open Main Menu > Settings > Connected Devices and Services, press the Poké Ball Plus’s top button, and tap Turn It On! when prompted. Connect the Poké Ball Plus in Pokémon GO
The official Poké Ball Plus instructions use the same flow for iPhone and Android; they do not specify separate platform steps. You will need the accessory and a phone with Bluetooth enabled. If you already own a Poké Ball Plus, you do not need to buy another one.

Enable Bluetooth on your smartphone.

Open Pokémon GO and go to the Map view. Tap Main Menu > Settings > Connected Devices and Services.

Press the top button on the Poké Ball Plus to make it discoverable.

When Pokémon GO asks whether to enable the accessory, tap Turn It On!
Pair the accessory through Pokémon GO, rather than the phone’s Bluetooth settings. Niantic’s general accessory guidance may show an Accessory Devices screen before you wake the device; use that screen if it is what your app currently displays. The Poké Ball Plus-specific instructions describe the connected-devices path and enable prompt. Niantic’s accessory pairing guidance covers the general flow.
Check that it connected
After pairing, the Poké Ball Plus icon in Pokémon GO becomes brighter or illuminated. Pressing the top button should also make the accessory vibrate. When it is disconnected, pressing the device causes it to flash a white light. Pokémon Support’s connection instructions and Pokémon Support’s Poké Ball Plus FAQ describe these indicators.
If Pokémon GO cannot find the accessory

Check that Bluetooth is enabled and that your phone supports Bluetooth, then try pairing again from Pokémon GO.

Install the current Pokémon GO release from your phone’s app store. Pokémon Support lists app version 0.37.0 or later as compatible, but that is a historical minimum—not a current version recommendation. The available support information does not establish reliable current minimum iOS or Android versions for the Poké Ball Plus. Pokémon Support’s troubleshooting page points readers to system requirements, but its surfaced legacy OS range should not be treated as current guidance.

If another phone used the accessory, you reinstalled Pokémon GO, or you switched to another official Bluetooth accessory, the Poké Ball Plus may need a factory reset. Follow Niantic’s current accessory troubleshooting guidance for reset steps.

If it disconnects during play
Check the accessory’s charge and keep it closer to the phone, with fewer obstructions between them. Pokémon Support identifies low battery, excess distance, and poor or blocked signal as possible causes. If disconnections keep happening, restart the smartphone. Pokémon Support’s troubleshooting guidance covers these checks.
A previously paired accessory can be reconnected for a new play session from the Map View accessory icon: press the Poké Ball Plus’s main button. To remove its pairing in Pokémon GO, open Main Menu > Settings > Connected Devices and Services > Accessory Devices, then tap the eject icon beside it. What the Poké Ball Plus does in Pokémon GO
While connected, the Poké Ball Plus can alert you to nearby Pokémon with lights and vibration; pressing its button throws a Poké Ball. It can also spin PokéStop Photo Discs for items and count travel distance toward Egg hatching and Buddy Candy. It does not provide Raid Battle functionality.
