To get a Crystallization Catalyst in The First Descendant, clear an eligible Normal-difficulty Infiltration Operation for the one-time first-clear reward, or research one through Anais in Albion. To craft it, open Research Info in the live game and follow the listed material, Gold, and time requirements. Using a Catalyst resets a Descendant’s level, but Nexon confirms the Descendant’s stats remain at level 40.
How to get a Crystallization Catalyst
The routes are a direct activity reward and research crafting. The direct reward is a one-time first-clear grant; research is the route to pursue through Anais when you have the required materials.
Claim the first-clear reward
Nexon’s 1.3.28 update says the first clear of an Infiltration Operation in a Normal-difficulty field other than Kingston awards one Crystallization Catalyst. It is a first-clear reward, not a repeatable Catalyst drop for farming the same operation. Check the activity’s current reward display in game before launching, since activity rewards can change. Research one through Anais
In Albion, speak with Anais and open Research Info to find the Crystallization Catalyst research entry. Nexon’s Research Requests guide explains that research consumes time, Gold, and materials; use the live Research Info and Acquisition Info screens to see the current requirements and where to obtain each material. The exact material quantities, Gold cost, and research duration are not established here, so use the values currently shown in your game rather than an older recipe list. Nexon’s 1.3.28 reward tables also list Catalyst blueprints and four types of research materials among activity rewards. The amounts and availability vary by activity and rank, so consult the individual activity’s reward table rather than treating one table as a universal drop rate. Nexon update 1.3.28
Which acquisition route should you choose?
| Route | What it provides | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Eligible Normal Infiltration Operation first clear | One Catalyst for the first clear in a Normal-difficulty field other than Kingston, according to Nexon update 1.3.28. | Choose this if you have not claimed that operation’s first-clear reward. |
| Research through Anais | A Catalyst after completing the live Research Info requirements for materials, Gold, and time. | Choose this when you can meet the currently displayed recipe or need another Catalyst. |
The available information does not establish one universally fastest farm. Compare the eligible first-clear reward with the materials you already own and the current activity reward tables.
What using a Catalyst does
For a Descendant, a Crystallization Catalyst resets the character’s level. Nexon’s 1.3.0 update confirms that the Descendant’s stats remain at level 40 after this reset; it is not a loss of the character’s level-40 stats. Nexon update 1.3.0
The reviewed current official information does not establish every step for selecting a socket type or the current weapon-specific procedure. Follow the instructions in the live Module interface when applying a Catalyst, and check the selected Descendant or weapon carefully before confirming. Nexon’s Module System guide dates to the 2023 Crossplay Open Beta and warns that its content could change before launch, so it should not be treated as a current button-by-button guide. Can Archive Shards replace Catalyst materials?
Nexon’s 2026 Amorphous Material overhaul says Archive Shards can substitute for some research crafting materials and Weapon or Reactor Enhancement Materials. The update does not specifically establish that Archive Shards can replace materials for a Crystallization Catalyst, so check the live research screen rather than assuming they apply.
