You can run the encoder on a computer, use dedicated hardware, or use a cloud service such as StreamNeo. Whichever route you choose, test and monitor the feed: a 24/7 schedule does not guarantee uninterrupted playback, an archive, or monetization.
1. Confirm rights to every recording
Before assembling a playlist, confirm you have permission for the material you plan to broadcast and, if you want a replay, retain in an archive. Rights may apply separately to the sound recording, musical composition, performance, lyrics, and any video or artwork shown. Devotional or traditional subject matter does not automatically make a particular recording free to use.
YouTube scans livestreams for matches to third-party content. It may replace the broadcast with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it if detected material continues. Even if you have a license, the rights holder may need to allowlist your channel through Content ID to reduce the risk of an interruption. Review YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams and address permissions and allowlisting with the relevant rights holders before going live.
2. Enable livestreaming and create a YouTube event

Verify your YouTube channel and check that it has no livestreaming restrictions. YouTube’s eligibility guidance says channels must not have had livestreaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so do this before your intended launch. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.

In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live. Create a stream or schedule one in Live Control Room. A scheduled event can be promoted so viewers can find it and request a reminder.

In Live Control Room, retrieve the event’s server URL and stream key. Treat the key like a password: anyone with it may be able to send a feed to your event. Do not post it publicly or include it in a public playlist, screenshot, or tutorial.

3. Choose how to loop and send the recordings
The basic chain is: authorized recordings → a playlist or playout source → an encoder → YouTube Live. The encoder sends video and audio to YouTube using the server URL and stream key from your event.

4. Connect, test, and start the broadcast

In your encoder or playout service, enter the YouTube server URL and stream key. Set the playlist to loop or use the service’s continuous-playback option.

Start the encoder and check that the preview reaches Live Control Room. Begin the event there if your selected workflow requires it.

Before relying on the stream, test the whole path: playlist transitions, audio levels, video, and whether the public event is accessible on your channel and on mobile. YouTube recommends testing and checking the preview before going live.

Keep a person responsible for monitoring audio and video quality. Decide how to restart playback or reconnect after a failure, and keep backup copies of authorized source files. YouTube’s guidance recommends testing and monitoring but does not promise a particular uptime.
For a local encoder, check that the archive file is growing if you are recording locally. Keep the stream key private, and have a documented way to replace it if it is exposed.

YouTube’s encoder setup guide says livestreams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume that a single event left running longer than that will be archived. If a replay matters, consider scheduling bounded events and verify the current archive behavior in Studio rather than relying on one indefinitely open stream.
YouTube’s August 12, 2026 guidance on qualified YouTube Partner Program watch hours includes public archived livestreams and excludes livestreams that are not archived. This is a qualification rule, not a promise that a channel will be accepted into YPP or earn money. Eligibility and monetization features depend on the channel meeting YouTube’s requirements and the creator enabling applicable features.

Troubleshooting common problems
- Livestreaming is not available: confirm channel verification and check for restrictions within the previous 90 days. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours.
- YouTube does not receive the feed: check that the event is the one you intend to use, then re-enter its server URL and stream key in the encoder. Confirm the encoder is sending and inspect Live Control Room preview before starting the event.
- The live feed is replaced or interrupted: investigate a third-party-content match. Confirm rights for the recording and ask the rights holder whether the channel must be allowlisted through Content ID; a license alone may not prevent an automated interruption.
- The playlist stops or the stream disconnects: check that the playback source is still running, the computer or device has power, and the internet connection is stable. Follow your restart procedure and have a responsible person verify the feed after recovery.
- No replay appears: check the event duration and archive status in Studio. The cited automatic-archive threshold is under 12 hours; do not rely on an indefinitely long event being archived.
