Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →To make a looping YouTube Live video look seamless, prepare footage whose ending flows naturally into its beginning, then play it on repeat in OBS. Add the file as a Media Source and enable Loop—but remember that this setting only restarts playback; it does not smooth a visual jump or audio break in the video itself. Preview the join and test the complete stream before broadcasting.
What makes a video loop seamlessly?
A seamless loop depends on the source footage, not just the playback setting. When the final frame cuts back to the first, look for a flash, jump in framing, abrupt change in motion, or other discontinuity. Listen for a click, silence, or sudden change in the background audio at the same join. If the end and start do not fit together, revise the edit or choose footage that does.
OBS can repeat a finished file, but its Loop option is not an editing or transition effect. The OBS documentation explains playback behavior; it does not claim to repair an imperfect join. Check the actual end-to-start transition in a preview rather than assuming a file will loop cleanly.
Choose how OBS will repeat the video
| Playback option | Use it when | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Media Source | You want to repeat one local video. | Select the file and enable Loop. OBS lists MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF, and WebM among its supported formats. |
| VLC Video source | You want to play a playlist of files in sequence. | Install VLC, add the playlist, and enable Loop Playlist. If you use 64-bit OBS, you need 64-bit VLC. Playlist transitions still depend on the files themselves. |
Neither option guarantees that a single video’s end-to-start join—or the transitions between playlist items—will be seamless.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Set up a single looping video in OBS
- Open or create the OBS scene you plan to stream.
- In the Sources panel, select + and add a Media Source.
- Give the source a name if prompted, then select the local video file.
- Enable Loop in the source properties and confirm the selection.
- Check the OBS preview for correct framing. Play through the end and beginning at least once, watching the picture and listening to the audio at the join.
If your goal is a sequence rather than one repeating file, add a VLC Video source instead, select the playlist, and enable Loop Playlist. Install VLC first and match its 64-bit or 32-bit version to OBS.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, go to Create → Go Live and create or select a stream in the Live Control Room.
- In OBS, open Settings → Stream. Select YouTube if it is offered as a service, then follow the connection flow. Otherwise, copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube’s Live Control Room into the corresponding OBS fields.
- Start streaming from OBS. Check that the encoder connects and that the video appears in the Live Control Room preview before you start the public broadcast.
YouTube describes an encoder as software that converts video into a digital format for streaming. The encoder sends the OBS output to YouTube; the local video file alone does not create a live broadcast. Keep the stream key private: anyone with access to it may be able to send content to your stream.

Set encoder settings and test the whole stream
Use YouTube’s current encoder settings and bitrates guidance as the reference for your output. YouTube recommends RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval, and says not to exceed four seconds. Its guidance lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 for RTMP/RTMPS video. Bitrate recommendations vary by resolution, so choose the settings your encoder and internet connection can sustain rather than treating one bitrate as right for every stream.
- Test the loop join in the encoder preview, including the audio and motion you expect to broadcast.
- Confirm the image is framed correctly and audio is audible.
- Check that OBS stays connected and watch YouTube’s stream-health messages before and during the broadcast.
- Use representative audio and movement in a test; a static or silent check may not reveal problems that occur during the intended stream.
YouTube recommends testing before going live, monitoring stream health, and reviewing messages during the event. These checks can reveal connection or encoding problems, but they cannot make an imperfect source edit seamless.

Finish the stream and understand the archive
When the broadcast is over, stop sending content from the encoder and end the stream in the Live Control Room as applicable. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That archive guidance is not a guarantee that playback looped correctly or that the connection stayed uninterrupted.
Troubleshoot common loop and stream problems
| Problem | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| A visible jump or flash at each repeat | The last and first frames do not connect naturally; OBS Loop only restarts the file. | Preview the join, then revise the edit or use footage with a better-matched ending and beginning. |
| A click, silence, or abrupt sound change at the repeat | The audio ending does not meet the beginning cleanly. | Listen to the join in preview and revise the source audio or choose a different source. |
| A playlist does not repeat | Loop Playlist may be off, or the VLC source may not be set up correctly. | Check the VLC Video source properties and enable Loop Playlist; confirm VLC is installed and its bitness matches OBS. |
| YouTube does not show the encoder preview | The encoder may not be connected, or its stream destination or key may be incorrect. | Compare the YouTube stream URL and key with the encoder’s stream settings, then reconnect and check the Live Control Room. |
| Stream health reports a problem | The output settings may exceed what the encoder or connection can sustain, or the stream may have another connection issue. | Read YouTube’s health messages, check the connection, and use encoder settings from YouTube’s guidance that your setup can maintain. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If the aim is to keep a prerecorded video running on YouTube without leaving OBS and a computer on at home, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops uploaded videos; it does not broadcast from a camera.
