To make a playlist from videos on your channel, open YouTube Studio, select Create > New playlist, set its title, description, visibility, and video arrangement, then choose Add videos. Pick videos from search, a URL, or your library and select Create. You can also add videos to an existing playlist later.
Create a playlist in YouTube Studio on a computer
- Sign in to YouTube Studio.
- In the upper-right corner, select Create, then New playlist.
- Enter a title and description. Titles can contain up to 150 characters and descriptions up to 5,000 characters. Do not use
<,>, or the line separator U+2028 in either field. - Choose the playlist’s visibility and how its videos should be arranged.
- Select Add videos. Choose videos from search, paste a video URL, or select videos from your library.
- Select Create.
Add one of your videos to an existing playlist
- In YouTube Studio, open the video’s details.
- Open More, then select Add videos.
- Select the playlist and confirm.
For ongoing management, go to Content > Playlists in Studio. The playlist menu can open the playlist on YouTube, where you can reorder and share it; playlist details let you edit its title or description.
Create a playlist in the YouTube mobile app
Start from one of your videos
- Open the video in the YouTube app.
- Tap More, then Save.
- Choose New playlist, enter a name, select its visibility, and create it.
Start from your watch history
- Open the You tab or profile area and choose New playlist.
- Select one or more videos from your watch history.
- Enter a title, choose visibility, and create the playlist.
YouTube’s Android playlist instructions are available in its help center.
Choose the right playlist visibility

For a playlist intended to help viewers browse your channel catalog, choose public. Use unlisted when you want link-based access without public discovery, or private for personal organization. See YouTube’s playlist privacy guidance.

Limits and cases that can affect playlist creation
- Daily public-playlist limit: YouTube sets a daily limit across YouTube, YouTube Music, and the YouTube API. Advanced features can increase the limit, but YouTube’s help pages do not state one universal fixed number.
- Made for Kids videos: A video or channel marked Made for Kids cannot be added to a playlist from the homepage. YouTube says you can add the content from search results instead.
- Invalid title or description characters: The title and description cannot contain
<,>, or U+2028. The title limit is 150 characters; the description limit is 5,000.
