What you need before changing anything
Button remapping and sensitivity are handled through Razer Controller Setup for Xbox rather than through the normal Xbox Accessories menus. The app is free and supports several Wolverine generations, but the available controls differ by model. Identify the exact name printed on your controller, its box, or its original product listing before you start.

How to remap buttons in Razer Controller Setup for Xbox
The core sequence is the same across supported Wolverine models: choose a profile, edit it, assign controls, and save. The labels below match Razer’s documented interface.

- Connect the controller. Plug the Wolverine into the Xbox or Windows PC on which you are running Razer Controller Setup for Xbox. If the app does not show a controller, close other controller-configuration utilities, reconnect the cable, and reopen the app.
- Open the app and select a profile. Profiles hold the assignments that the controller uses. Select the profile you want to change rather than editing a different profile by accident.
- Select Edit. This opens the configuration controls for the selected profile.
- Choose Assign Buttons. A diagram or list of available controls appears. Select the button or multi-function control you want to change.
- Choose the replacement function. Select the action you want the chosen control to perform. The assignment is applied to the profile rather than permanently changing every profile.
- Select Done. Razer says the assignments save to the selected profile. Test the profile in a game before changing additional controls so you can identify which assignment produced any unexpected behavior.
Remapping a multi-function button
Razer’s support instructions specifically describe remapping or disabling the multi-function buttons. In Assign Buttons, select the multi-function control and then choose the desired function. If you want the control to do nothing, select the no symbol option. This is useful when an extra paddle or shoulder control is being pressed accidentally, or when you want to eliminate a function that conflicts with your preferred grip.
Clearing every custom assignment
To remove all multi-function button assignments in the current configuration, choose Clear All and confirm. This is different from changing one button: it removes the custom assignments covered by that command, so use it only when you intend to rebuild the layout.
Restoring the factory layout
To return the profile to its original mapping, choose Restore to Default. Restoring defaults is the quickest recovery when a game no longer responds as expected after several changes. It also gives you a clean baseline for creating a new layout instead of trying to remember which controls were changed.

How to adjust thumbstick sensitivity
Do not assume that every Wolverine has a sensitivity slider. Razer’s Wolverine V3 Tournament Edition product information explicitly advertises thumbstick sensitivity adjustment through its dedicated app. Razer’s Wolverine Ultimate FAQ also lists thumbstick sensitivity adjustment. By contrast, the cited Wolverine V2 FAQ confirms remapping and trigger stops but does not establish the same stick-sensitivity control.
- Confirm the model. Read the exact model name before looking for a sensitivity menu. The presence of “Wolverine” alone is not enough.
- Open Razer Controller Setup for Xbox and choose the profile. Sensitivity settings, like button assignments, are associated with a profile.
- Open the profile’s edit controls. Look for the thumbstick or sensitivity control exposed for that model.
- Change the sensitivity setting and save. Use the app’s save or completion control, then select Done if that is the final step shown by the interface.
- Test in a low-stakes setting. Check camera movement or aiming in a practice area before using the setting in a competitive match. If the option is absent, that is evidence that the model or current firmware/app combination does not expose the documented control; it is not a sign that you should remap an unrelated button.
Because the available material does not establish a common sensitivity range, numeric scale, or identical menu for every model, this guide does not promise a particular number of levels or a specific percentage. Use the controls that the app presents for your exact controller.
Profiles, onboard storage, and offline use
Profiles let you keep different layouts for different games or play styles. For example, one profile can move a frequently used action to a multi-function button, while another can leave the standard layout intact. Select the appropriate profile before launching a game; changing the wrong profile will not alter the one you actually use.

Razer’s FAQ says the app can be used offline, with an important limitation: offline use is restricted to profiles available on the controller’s onboard storage. When the app closes, the active profile reverts to the onboard profile. If a custom layout seems to disappear after quitting the app, check whether you saved it to onboard storage and whether that profile is the one the controller is configured to use.
- Before disconnecting: save the edited profile and verify that it is stored on the controller if you need it away from the app.
- When switching games: select the intended profile explicitly instead of assuming the last edited profile is active.
- When working offline: expect only onboard profiles to be available.
- After closing the app: expect the active profile to return to the onboard profile described by Razer’s FAQ.
What can and cannot be remapped
Supported Wolverine models expose remapping for the controls listed in their app profile. The Xbox button is a documented exception on the Wolverine V3 Tournament Edition: Razer says it is not remappable. Do not treat the Xbox button as an ordinary assignable control on that model.
Other restrictions can be model-specific. A control may be available for reassignment on one Wolverine generation but absent, fixed, or presented differently on another. Trigger-stop hardware is also separate from software mapping: a physical trigger-stop switch changes the trigger’s travel, while Assign Buttons changes which action a control sends. A controller can support one without offering the other.

Choosing settings for common play styles
Competitive shooters
Move a frequently used action to a multi-function button only if you can reach it without changing your grip. Make one change at a time, then test movement, aiming, reloads, and menu navigation. If your model offers thumbstick sensitivity, begin with a conservative adjustment and verify that small aiming corrections remain controllable before trying a faster setting.
Action and role-playing games
A layout that places dodge, jump, or another reaction action on an additional control can reduce the need to remove your thumb from the right stick. Keep a separate default profile so you can return to the game’s original prompts when a title uses an unusual control scheme.
Accessibility-focused layouts
Remapping can put a difficult-to-reach action on a control that suits your hand position. Disabling a multi-function button with the no-symbol option can also prevent unintended presses. Confirm the new layout in the game’s control display, because on-screen prompts may continue to show the original button even when the controller sends a different function.

Troubleshooting remapping and sensitivity problems
The app does not detect the controller
- Confirm that the controller is one of the Wolverine families listed as supported.
- Disconnect and reconnect it, then restart Razer Controller Setup for Xbox.
- Close other controller utilities that could be communicating with the device.
- Check the exact model name; similar-looking Wolverine variants can expose different app features.
The game still performs the old action
- Return to the app and verify that you edited the profile currently selected on the controller.
- Select Done after assigning the function so the profile saves.
- Make sure the game is receiving input from the remapped controller rather than another connected gamepad.
- Test the control in another game or a system input screen to separate a profile issue from a game-specific control rule.
A custom layout vanished after closing the app
Razer’s FAQ says that the active profile reverts to the onboard profile when the app closes and that offline use is limited to onboard profiles. Save the layout to onboard storage, select that onboard profile, and then close the app. If you need several layouts, verify which ones the controller can store and switch profiles deliberately before launching each game.
The sensitivity option is missing
First check the model. Razer explicitly advertises thumbstick sensitivity adjustment for the Wolverine V3 Tournament Edition and lists it for the Wolverine Ultimate FAQ, but the cited V2 documentation does not establish the same feature. If your model is supported yet the control is absent, update or restart the app and recheck the model-specific profile; do not infer that every supported controller must have the same sensitivity menu.
A button cannot be changed
Some controls are fixed. On the Wolverine V3 Tournament Edition, the Xbox button is not remappable. If the app does not offer a control in Assign Buttons, treat that as a model limitation rather than trying to force the assignment through another menu.

Use Clear All when you want to remove all multi-function assignments, or Restore to Default when you want the factory profile back. Rebuild the layout one assignment at a time and test after each change.
Comparing Wolverine models before you rely on a feature
When deciding between supported controllers, compare the exact app features first: button remapping, thumbstick sensitivity, vibration controls, and physical trigger-stop controls. Then check connection type and platform requirements. The Wolverine V3 Tournament Edition is documented as wired on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Available documentation does not provide fair measured comparisons of latency, sensitivity ranges, durability, or value between the models. Consequently, you should not choose one as faster, more precise, or better value based solely on the feature descriptions above. Confirm the features you actually need, the platform you use, and whether a wired connection suits your setup.
