Desmal is a level 25 Champion of Elgar’nan in Treviso. Bring Fire damage, avoid Necrotic attacks, and dodge the red lines and marked circles rather than committing to long attack animations. To trigger the fight, destroy the blight cyst at the Crow’s Road Rooftops in the Treviso Canals.
Where to find Desmal
Travel to the Crow’s Road Rooftops in the Treviso Canals and follow the waypoint to a rooftop courtyard. Defeat the Venari cultists there, then destroy the blight cyst to spawn Desmal. This encounter is part of the Gate of Deep Sorrows and Heart of Corruption progression.
Prepare for the fight
Favor Fire and avoid resisted damage
Desmal is reported to be vulnerable to Fire and resistant to Necrotic damage. Build around Fire abilities or gear where available; Davrin and Taash are suggested companion options because they can deal Fire damage. These are guide recommendations, not a required party composition. EIP Gaming’s Desmal guide and Game8’s walkthrough both identify Fire as the weakness and Necrotic as resisted.
Do not rely on Bleed: EIP reports that Desmal’s Physical Imbued state resists Physical damage and is immune to Bleeding. In the Necrotic Imbued state, Desmal resists Necrotic damage and is immune to Necrosis.

Plan for healing and your level
EIP recommends bringing a companion with Replenish or Soothing Potion, so you have another recovery option after using the arena’s green healing pots. The guide reports Desmal at level 25 and suggests returning at level 20 or later if you are struggling. That is the guide author’s advice, not a verified minimum level.
Fight plan: dodge tells and use short openings
- Open with damage. Once Desmal emerges, use a strong ability or a Detonation if your setup permits. EIP also suggests spending a charged Ultimate at the opening.
- Keep Desmal in view. Watch for red lines and ground circles, then dodge out of their marked paths or impact zones. The beam is especially dangerous; the guide recommends dodging instead of risking parries against delayed or unblockable attacks.
- Attack briefly when safe. Use short attacks during openings. Charged light and heavy attacks can lock Rook into animations that Desmal may punish.
- React to the phase change. Below half health, Desmal can summon blight rain. Dodge the marked landing zones; the resulting blight boils can be destroyed with one hit if convenient.
Desmal’s attacks and how to respond

| Blood Magic Beam | Desmal charges a beam aimed along a wide red line on the ground. Dodge out of the line. |
| Blood Magic Leap | Desmal jumps toward a marked red circle and lands with blood crystals spreading outward. Leave the circle before impact. |
| Blood Hammer | Three ground slams send lines of blood crystals toward the target. Dodge the lines and move beyond hammer range. |
| Blight Summon | A ground strike creates seven damaging blight circles. Dodge or run clear, and stay out of the lingering blight. |
| Charge | Dodge sideways or otherwise clear the charge path. |
| Frenzied Strikes and swipes | Expect close-range attacks. Dodge, or block when safe; EIP identifies the final Frenzied Strike as the easiest part of the sequence to defend. |
| Blood Stomps and Rock Throw | Move out of the red circles that mark the impact zones. |
| Blight Rain | Below half health, dodge the marked landing zones. The blight boils left behind can be destroyed in one hit. |
What the fight unlocks
Desmal drops Champion Essence. Take it to the Gate of Deep Sorrows in the Converged City area of the Crossroads to remove the roots and continue toward the Betrayal of Felassan.
