Kent is quick and uses a handgun, so dodge his shots and punish openings with a melee weapon. If you arrive after noon, Tad is already dead in the scene.
Get to Paradise Plaza before noon
Kent’s final scoop, Photographer’s Pride, takes place in Paradise Plaza on September 21. PowerPyx lists its encounter window as 12:00 PM–1:00 PM and says Frank must be there before 12:00 PM to save Tad Hawthorne. Arriving later means the scene shows Tad dead. Prioritize reaching the plaza on time over collecting optional gear.
If Tad survives the fight, save him afterward. The encounter is the third part of a linked photo-scoop sequence, so it helps to understand what must be done beforehand.

- Photo Challenge: Take an Outtake-category photo worth at least 500 PP, then show it to Kent upstairs at noon on September 20.
- Photographer’s Pride: Return to Paradise Plaza at noon the next day for the confrontation. Be there before noon if you want the scene where Tad can be saved.
Choose a weapon and healing item
The Escapist recommends a Battle Axe or Katana from the Antique Store in Entrance Plaza. If you prefer a different feel, use a Baseball Bat from the Sports Shop across from Colombia Roasters. The guide does not provide a controlled comparison of their damage or reach, so choose the weapon you handle most comfortably.
Bring Orange Juice from Colombia Roasters if you want a healing item. Treat these as preparation options, not a requirement to win: timing and avoiding Kent’s gunfire matter more than finding a particular weapon.

Dodge Kent’s shots and counter
Kent is mobile and can charge at Frank. Keep moving, dodge his handgun fire, and close in to land melee hits when he leaves an opening. Avoid standing still to trade shots; the walkthrough’s recommended approach is to evade and retaliate with melee.
In the remaster, a dedicated button performs a dodge roll. PlayStation’s overview also notes optional auto-aim assist and a HUD reticle, as well as the ability to move and shoot at the same time. Those ranged-control options are available if you need them, although the cited Kent strategy favors melee.

Use the map to keep the timed objective visible
Capcom’s official manual explains that the map shows Frank’s position and Scoop locations, and lets you inspect Scoops and place markers. Mark Photographer’s Pride or check the Scoop Cue while planning your route to Paradise Plaza so the timed arrival does not get lost among other objectives.

The time-sensitive survivor outcome is why the safest plan is to arrive early, then fight with the weapon and healing item you have available.
