ARK: Survival Evolved does not have a universal command that “deletes” one player. For an individual account, the documented ways to remove access are adding the account to the server’s banned list with BanPlayer or removing it from a whitelist with DisallowPlayerToJoinNoCheck. First identify the account with ListPlayers, then choose the narrowest action that matches your goal.

These commands control server access; they are not the same as destroying a character, tribe, structures or inventory. Tribe-destruction commands affect every player in a tribe and should never be used as a substitute for removing one person.

Administrators use “delete” to describe several different outcomes. ARK’s documented individual player controls address access, not a universal account-erasure operation. You can stop an account from joining by banning it, or remove an account from a server whitelist. If you only need to remove access temporarily, do not assume that a tribe-destruction command, character-wipe command or another destructive command is equivalent.
The command reference establishes these individual actions:

BanPlayeradds the specified account to the server’s banned list.DisallowPlayerToJoinNoCheckremoves the specified account from the server whitelist.UnbanPlayerremoves the specified account from the banned list.
The command reference does not establish one universal, cross-platform “delete player” or “kick player” command. A ban is the documented persistent access-control action. If you are trying to disconnect someone who is currently online rather than prevent future joins, verify the administration controls supplied by your particular server build and platform instead of substituting a tribe-wide destruction command.
What you need before running an administrative command
You must have administrative authority on the server. On a dedicated server, open the in-game console and authenticate with the server administrator password. The dedicated-server administration guidance requires enablecheats before other administrative commands are accepted. Use the password configured for that server’s admin access, and enter the command through the console context in which your server accepts cheat commands.
- Dedicated server: authenticate in the console, then enable cheats before running
ListPlayers,BanPlayer, whitelist commands orUnbanPlayer. - Single-player or locally hosted session: use the administrator console available to that session and follow its authentication rules. The exact console-opening control varies by platform and configuration.
- Hosted server panel: some providers expose an admin console or command window rather than the in-game console. The commands still need to be issued with administrator privileges.
Keep a record of the account identifier, the action taken and the reason. This prevents an accidental ban of a similarly named player and gives you the information needed to reverse a ban later.
Find the correct account with ListPlayers
Do not guess an identifier from a display name. Run:
ListPlayersThe command reference says ListPlayers can return the player’s Int64-encoded Steam ID. Copy the complete identifier exactly as shown, including every digit. A display name can change, be duplicated or contain characters that make name-based targeting unreliable.

Steam identifiers
Steam IDs are typically 17 digits. Treat the value returned by ListPlayers as the authoritative identifier for the account currently known to your server. Do not remove leading or trailing digits, insert spaces or use a shortened profile number.

Epic account IDs are typically 19 digits. Their length differs from the usual Steam format, so do not reject a 19-digit value as invalid merely because it is longer than a Steam ID. Use the complete account value returned by the server and match it to the platform on which the player connected.
Console-platform names
The command reference shows a name-based form for Xbox and PlayStation:
cheat BanPlayer myname84937593In that example, myname84937593 is a stand-in for the player name. Replace it with the exact name recognized by your server. Name matching is more sensitive to spelling and duplicates than using the account identifier from ListPlayers, so confirm the result before applying a ban.
Choose the narrowest action
The right command depends on whether the player is blocked by a ban, admitted through a whitelist, or part of a larger disciplinary action. This table separates scope, persistence and reversibility.

If one person should lose access, use the first two rows. The tribe commands belong to a completely different class of operation and can affect people who were not the subject of the dispute.
Ban a player from the server
Use a ban when the account should no longer be permitted to join the server under the server’s banned-list rules. A ban is the documented individual access-removal mechanism.
- Authenticate. Open the administrative console and log in with the server administrator password. On a dedicated server, run
enablecheatsthrough the authenticated console before issuing other commands. - List accounts. Run
ListPlayersand locate the target account. Copy the full Steam or Epic identifier, or confirm the exact console-platform name if your platform requires the name form. - Apply the ban. For an identifier, enter:
cheat BanPlayer <SteamID-or-account-ID>Replace the placeholder with the complete value; do not type the angle brackets.
- Use the platform name form only where appropriate. On Xbox or PlayStation, the documented example is
cheat BanPlayer myname84937593, with the player name replaced by the exact name shown to the server. - Record the result. Save the account ID, date, administrator and reason in your server log. The ID is more reliable than a changing display name when you need to review or reverse the decision.
BanPlayer adds the specified account to the server’s banned list. The command definition does not promise that every server build will display the same confirmation text or handle an already-connected session identically, so check the console response and your server’s connection state after issuing it.
Remove a player from a whitelist
A whitelist is an allow-list: only accounts admitted by that list can join. If the player’s access comes from the whitelist rather than a ban decision, remove the account from that list instead of creating a broader disciplinary record.
- Authenticate as an administrator and enable cheats on the dedicated server as described above.
- Run
ListPlayersto obtain and verify the account identifier. - Run:
cheat DisallowPlayerToJoinNoCheck <SteamID-or-account-ID> - Confirm that the identifier is the one you intended to remove. This command removes the specified player from the server whitelist; it is not a tribe wipe and does not target other members.
Removing an account from a whitelist is distinct from unbanning it. If an account is both absent from the whitelist and present on the banned list, removing it from one list will not clear the other restriction.

Undo an incorrect or expired ban
If the account was banned by mistake or should be allowed back, use the same identifier that was recorded when the ban was applied:
cheat UnbanPlayer <SteamID-or-account-ID>- Authenticate and enable cheats if the server is dedicated.
- Copy the complete Steam, Epic or other accepted account identifier from your records or from
ListPlayers. - Run
UnbanPlayerwith that identifier. - Check the console response and ask the player to try again only after the server has processed the list change.
The command reference defines UnbanPlayer as removing the specified account from the banned list. It does not automatically add the account to a whitelist; if your server uses a whitelist, restore that separate permission through the server’s allow-list procedure.

Do not use tribe-destruction commands to remove one person
DestroyTribeIdPlayers destroys all players in a specified tribe. DestroyTribePlayers also destroys all players of a tribe based on the targeted tribe or player owner. Those commands operate on a tribe-wide scope, not on one account’s server access.
The consequences are therefore much broader than a ban or whitelist change:
- Other tribe members can be affected even when they were not involved in the incident.
- The operation is destructive rather than a simple list edit.
UnbanPlayercannot restore players or tribe data destroyed by a tribe command.- Using a tribe command to solve an access problem makes it difficult to identify exactly what was changed afterward.
Before entering either tribe command, stop and verify that the intended outcome truly applies to every player in that tribe. For a single-account access decision, return to BanPlayer or DisallowPlayerToJoinNoCheck.

Removing an offline player
An offline account can still be identified and managed because the procedure is based on the account identifier, not on the player being currently connected. Authenticate, run ListPlayers when the account is available to the server’s player list, and save the full ID. Then apply the appropriate ban or whitelist-removal command while the player is offline.

A ban changes the banned list; a whitelist removal changes the whitelist. Neither instruction authorizes destroying the player’s tribe or assets. If you cannot find the account in the output, do not substitute a guessed name or a partial ID; resolve the identifier first.
Troubleshooting command and identifier problems
The console rejects every command
- Confirm that you authenticated with the server administrator password.
- On a dedicated server, make sure
enablecheatswas entered before the administrative command. - Check that you are in the server’s administrative console, not a chat box or a client console without server privileges.
The ban targets nobody or the wrong person
- Run
ListPlayersagain and copy the complete account value. - Check whether the value is a 17-digit Steam ID or a typically 19-digit Epic ID; do not convert one platform’s identifier into another.
- On Xbox or PlayStation, verify the exact name accepted by the server before using the documented name form.
- Do not remove punctuation, truncate digits or rely on a display name that several people may share.
The player still cannot join after UnbanPlayer
An unban only removes the account from the banned list. Check whether a separate whitelist still excludes the account, and confirm that the identifier used for the unban is the same account identifier that was banned. If the player is already connected, the command reference does not guarantee how that existing session will be handled; test the connection after the list change rather than repeating destructive commands.
The player was removed from the whitelist but can still not join
Whitelist removal is an access change, not an automatic ban reversal or account reset. Verify the server’s current allow-list and banned-list state, then correct the specific list that is preventing the join. Keep the account ID in your records so the next change is made against the same account.
Administrator checklist
- Define the outcome: ban, whitelist removal, or reversal of a ban.
- Authenticate with administrator privileges.
- Enable cheats on a dedicated server before other commands.
- Run
ListPlayersand copy the complete identifier. - Choose the least broad command:
BanPlayer,DisallowPlayerToJoinNoCheckorUnbanPlayer. - Review the target and command one more time before pressing Enter.
- Record the identifier, action, date and reason.
- Never use
DestroyTribeIdPlayersorDestroyTribePlayersfor an individual access decision.
The Bottom Line
To remove one account from an ARK server, identify it with ListPlayers, then use cheat BanPlayer <SteamID-or-account-ID> for a persistent ban or cheat DisallowPlayerToJoinNoCheck <SteamID-or-account-ID> to remove whitelist access. Reverse a ban with cheat UnbanPlayer <SteamID-or-account-ID>. Tribe-destruction commands are not player-removal tools: they affect every player in a tribe.
