“Roblox textures” can mean two different things: the clothes or skin color on your avatar, or an image applied to a 3D object in an experience. To remove worn avatar items, use the Avatar Editor or the mobile item’s Wear This control. To change an object texture, you need to edit the experience in Roblox Studio; players cannot use these steps to alter someone else’s game.
Choose the right kind of texture
| What you want to change | Where to do it | What the change affects |
|---|---|---|
| Clothing or accessories worn by your avatar | Avatar Editor in a browser, or the item’s inventory controls on mobile | Your avatar’s appearance |
| Avatar skin color | Avatar appearance controls in a browser or on mobile | Your avatar’s body color |
| An image on a 3D object in an experience you create or can edit | Roblox Studio | The object in that experience |
Roblox’s help pages describe avatar items and skin color as appearance settings, not as texture deletion. Creator Hub uses “texture” for an image applied to a 3D object’s surface. The workflows below are distinct: Studio is for editing an experience’s assets, not for changing objects in an unrelated game.
Remove clothes or accessories from your avatar
In a browser
- Open the Avatar Editor.
- Choose Recent or the relevant clothing or accessory category.
- Find the item your avatar is wearing and select its highlighted icon to remove it.
- If the avatar preview does not update after adding or removing an item, select the Redraw link beneath the avatar image.
Roblox Support’s browser instructions are available in Browser: Customizing Your Avatar.
On a phone
- Open the relevant item in your inventory.
- Set Wear This to No.
Roblox notes that the Avatar tab is being renamed Me in a regional rollout. If you do not see Me, look for Avatar. See Mobile: Customizing Your Avatar for Roblox’s mobile instructions.

Change your avatar’s skin color
In a browser
- Go to Avatar.
- Open Head & Body, then choose Skin Tone.
- Select a color. To color body parts individually, open Advanced and choose colors for the separate parts.
On a phone
Roblox documents the path as Me > Customize > Body > Skin. Because the Me tab is rolling out by region, the tab may still be labeled Avatar in your app.
These controls change avatar appearance; they do not delete an image asset from an experience. Roblox’s steps are in its browser avatar guide and mobile avatar guide.

Change or remove a texture on an object in your experience
A texture is a digital image applied to a 3D object’s surface. Roblox supports textures imported with a custom 3D object and textures uploaded separately in Studio. The specific editing steps depend on how the object and its texture were created; Creator Hub’s texture documentation provides file, mapping, and material guidance, but does not give one universal removal procedure for every asset type.
As a creator, edit the object or its texture in the experience you control in Roblox Studio. To remove a texture, remove or replace the texture assignment on that object; the exact control depends on the asset type and how it was set up. To use a different image, upload or import the replacement using the workflow appropriate to the object. These actions affect your experience, not a game you do not own or have permission to edit.

Roblox Creator Hub’s 2026 texture specifications say resolutions up to 4096 × 4096 pixels are supported. Its general examples relate texture size to object size; they are guidance, not mandatory settings for every object.

For physically based rendering (PBR), Roblox’s SurfaceAppearance supports albedo, normal, roughness, metalness, and emissive-mask texture maps. Its normal-map guidance specifies OpenGL-format tangent-space maps. Creator Hub also recommends one UV set per component, keeping UV coordinates in 0:1 space; overlapping UVs are allowed. These are technical specifications and guidance, not a guarantee that a particular texture will look correct on every model.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Creator Store assets are not avatar wearables
The Creator Store is a catalog of digital assets for building experiences, including models, plugins, audio, fonts, images, meshes, and video. Roblox Support says Creator Store items cannot be worn on an avatar, so an image or mesh found there is not a way to change avatar clothes or skin. See The Creator Store.

If your goal is to make or sell an avatar item rather than change one you wear, Roblox says creators often begin with a mesh made in a 3D art program such as Blender and bring it into Studio. Selling items has creator requirements, and items must follow Marketplace policy and Community Standards. Details are in Creating and Selling Avatar Items.
