There is no universal switch that disables generative AI in every game. You must turn off the specific feature in the game, account, world, or platform where it is controlled. Start by identifying whether you are dealing with an AI conversation, generated images or assets, voice interaction, or an automated support tool. Then check the game’s official account, parental-control, privacy, communication, accessibility, and experimental settings.
The steps below cover Epic games, Roblox, Minecraft Bedrock, and a repeatable method for any other title. They also explain what each control does not cover, which matters when you are setting restrictions for a child.

What “turn off AI” can mean
Games use the term AI for very different systems. Enemy pathfinding, aiming logic, animation decisions, matchmaking, moderation, analytics, and server behavior are conventional game systems; the controls in this guide are not a general way to disable all of them. Generative-AI features produce or adapt content in response to a player, such as a conversational character that writes replies, a voice character that speaks back, image or 3D-asset generation, or a chatbot-style service with memory across sessions.

Before changing a setting, name the exact behavior you want to stop. A communication toggle may block a child from sending free-text messages to an AI character while leaving an AI-powered support window available. An experimental-world switch may affect one Minecraft world but not a creator-made feature on a server. A console privacy setting may block platform chat while a game’s own AI interaction remains enabled.

Identify the feature first
- Conversational NPC: a character responds to typed prompts or spoken questions.
- AI voice interaction: the game converts speech to a response or lets an AI character speak dynamically.
- Generated images, models, or other assets: a player prompt creates visual or 3D content.
- AI memory or continuous chatbot behavior: the service remembers interactions or behaves like an ongoing assistant.
- Automated support: an in-game or account-support assistant answers service questions. This can be governed separately from gameplay conversations.

Fortnite and other Epic-owned experiences
Epic’s parental controls apply to Epic-owned experiences, including Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys, regardless of which device or console is used. The documented AI communication control is intended for a child account and requires the parental-control PIN.
Change the setting on the Epic account website
- Sign in to the child’s Epic Games Account.
- Open Parental Controls.
- Enter the parental-control PIN when prompted.
- Open General.
- Scroll to Allow voice and written communication with AI Features.
- Set the control to Off and save or confirm if the page asks for confirmation.
Epic defines the Off state as preventing the child from interacting with Epic AI features through voice and free-text written communication. In Fortnite, that includes conversational AI non-player characters. The setting is an interaction restriction, not a claim that every AI process in the service has stopped.
Change it from Fortnite
- Launch Fortnite with the relevant child account.
- Open the sidebar.
- Select the hamburger menu.
- Choose Parental Controls and enter the PIN if required.
- Scroll to AI Features.
- Turn the setting off, then return to the game and test the specific character or interaction.
What this Epic control does not cover
Epic expressly says the control does not apply to AI-powered player-support interactions. A support assistant can therefore remain available even when gameplay conversations are blocked. Do not describe the setting as an account-wide shutdown of moderation, support, matchmaking, analytics, creator tools, or every automated process.

The communication restriction also does not replace device-level controls. Epic advises reviewing the communication and privacy settings for the platform being used—PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Windows, iOS, or Google Play—when the goal is to restrict communication comprehensively. A platform chat channel can remain available independently of an in-game AI setting.

Fortnite Conversations feature status
On April 16, 2026, Epic announced Conversations as an experimental Fortnite system for AI-powered characters with personalities and voices that react to player actions. The announcement said publishing projects that use the system was not yet available at that time. Because an experimental feature can change between releases, check Epic’s current documentation for the edition, region, and account type you are using before relying on a menu label or assuming that the feature is enabled everywhere.
Roblox: controls vary by experience
Roblox’s official documentation focuses on creator disclosure and maturity labeling rather than promising a universal player-facing AI off switch. If an experience lets players interact with a generative model in a way that triggers a response—text chat, voice chat, images, 3D generation, or avatar movement—the creator must disclose that use in the Content Maturity questionnaire.
How Roblox classifies ongoing AI interaction
An experience designed for continuous chatbot-like interaction or cross-session AI memory must answer Yes to the Extended AI question and receive a Restricted maturity label. That disclosure tells you the experience contains a significant AI interaction, but it does not guarantee that the creator has exposed an on/off button for players.
What a player or parent should do
- Open the experience’s own settings before joining a public session. Look for privacy, communication, chat, voice, safety, or AI options.
- Review the account’s parental and communication controls. The available options depend on the account type, age settings, and current Roblox policies.
- Check the experience’s maturity information and any creator-provided instructions. A disclosed AI feature may be creator-made rather than served by Roblox itself.
- If there is no documented control, leave the experience or restrict access to it at the account or platform level. Do not assume that a Roblox-wide switch exists unless Roblox publishes one for the specific feature.
Roblox’s documentation distinguishes creator-made AI from Roblox-served systems. Two experiences can therefore offer different controls, different data behavior, and different ways of limiting text, voice, images, or avatar actions. The presence of an Extended AI label is not evidence that every AI feature in every experience can be disabled from one account page.

Minecraft Bedrock: experimental settings are world-specific
Minecraft Bedrock’s documented procedure concerns experimental gameplay toggles at the world level. It is useful only when the feature you want to avoid is explicitly tied to an experiment; it is not a general generative-AI switch.
Change a world’s experiment settings
- Open the world’s settings.
- Select Game.
- Scroll to Experiments.
- Select or clear the relevant experiment toggle.
- Read the warning and confirm only after deciding that the world can remain experimental.
Minecraft marks a world that uses experiments as Experimental. Its documentation warns that an experimental world cannot later be restored to a non-experimental state. Copy a valuable world before enabling or changing an experiment. If the AI-like behavior comes from a creator-made add-on, a server, or a normal non-experimental world, this menu may have no effect; check that content’s own settings instead.
A repeatable method for any other game
Use this sequence when a title does not have an obvious AI menu. Record the game edition, account type, platform, region, and access date because labels and availability can change.
- Name the exact feature. Write down whether it is a conversational NPC, AI chat, generated image or asset, voice interaction, memory, or automated support.
- Search the official support site for the exact phrase. Terms such as “AI Features,” “conversations,” “generative,” “voice,” or “extended AI” are more useful than a broad search for “turn off AI.”
- Check the account and parental-control pages. These often govern child communication separately from the in-game menu.
- Inspect in-game settings. Open Privacy, Communication, Accessibility, and Experimental or Beta sections. An accessibility setting may change voice input without affecting text interaction.
- Apply the smallest documented toggle. Note whether it covers voice, free text, images, NPC dialogue, or only one child account, world, or experience.
- Review platform controls separately. Console and mobile communication permissions can allow or block channels that the game setting does not control.
- Verify in a low-risk session. Re-enter the game, try the exact interaction, and check both voice and text if both were available. Test with the account that is supposed to be restricted.
- Record exceptions. Note whether support, moderation, creator content, or server features still expose automated responses.
Understanding control scope before you rely on it
Six questions prevent most mistaken assumptions:
- Where is the control? Is it on an account page, inside the game, in one world, in one creator experience, or on the console or phone?
- What does it cover? Voice, free text, images, 3D generation, NPC dialogue, or support can be separate surfaces.
- Who is affected? A child account restriction may not change an adult account or another profile on the same device.
- How broad is the scope? It may apply to one world, one experience, Epic-owned products, or the entire platform.
- Can you undo it? Ordinary communication toggles are generally changeable; Minecraft’s experimental-world status is specifically not restorable.
- Is the feature stable? Beta and experimental systems can move, disappear, or gain new controls. A dated announcement is not a permanent specification.
Platform and family-control checks
When restricting a child’s access, use the game setting and the platform setting as separate layers. On consoles, review the profile’s voice, text, messaging, and friend-communication permissions. On Windows, review the account’s communication and privacy permissions. On iOS and Google Play devices, check the child profile, app permissions, and family controls available for that operating system. The exact labels differ by platform and can change with software updates.

Platform controls can block ordinary chat while leaving a game’s built-in AI character available, or they can block voice input while text prompts still work. Conversely, an in-game AI control can stop conversational responses while a platform party or messaging channel remains open. Verify each channel rather than treating one successful test as proof that all communication is disabled.

The toggle is missing
Confirm that you are signed into the intended account, that a parent PIN or administrator permission is available, and that the game edition and region support the feature. Update the game and reopen the account page. If the feature is creator-controlled, look in the individual experience or server rather than the platform’s global settings.
Text is blocked but voice still works
Check whether the control separates free-text writing from voice communication. Revisit both the game’s communication menu and the platform’s microphone, voice-chat, and privacy permissions. Test with a fresh session after saving the change.

This can be expected when the setting covers gameplay interaction but not AI-powered player support. Treat support, moderation notices, and account help as separate services unless the documentation explicitly includes them.

A creator-made feature ignores the platform setting
Creator scripts, add-ons, and server tools can expose their own interfaces. Check the creator’s instructions, leave the experience, or use account and platform restrictions to prevent access. Roblox’s disclosure rules do not require every experience to present the same disable control.
Minecraft warns that the world is experimental
Stop before confirming if the world matters to you. Make a copy first. Once a world has been changed into an experimental state, Minecraft says it cannot be restored to a non-experimental state.
Practical checks for parents
- Change settings while signed into the child’s account or the parent account that actually owns the restriction; changing a different profile may have no effect.
- Keep the parental-control PIN private and test the restriction without revealing it.
- Check voice, text, image-generation, and support surfaces independently.
- Review public experiences, creator content, servers, and platform chat, not only the game’s home menu.
- Explain to the child which interactions are unavailable and how to report an unexpected AI response.
- Recheck after major game, console, mobile, or account-policy updates, especially for features labeled beta or experimental.
What these controls cannot promise
Turning off a documented generative-AI interaction does not prove that a game has no AI anywhere. Conventional NPC logic, moderation, matchmaking, analytics, fraud detection, customer support, and creator tools may continue to operate. The reliable claim is narrower: the specified account, world, experience, or platform channel can no longer use the documented interaction covered by that setting.

Disable generative AI at the layer that owns it: Epic’s AI communication control for a child account, an individual Roblox experience or account restriction, a Minecraft Bedrock world’s explicitly related experiment, or the game and platform settings documented for another title. Verify voice and text separately, test the exact feature after changing it, and do not treat one toggle as a universal block on every automated system.
