To show requests on a 24/7 YouTube radio stream, add a queue overlay as a Browser Source in the scene your encoder sends to YouTube. The overlay must receive updates from the same playback and request workflow you use; a queue that only looks right in a preview but does not track real requests will mislead viewers. Test the entire path—from request submission to playback and on-screen update—before going live.
Choose how requests enter and reach the queue
Decide first how listeners will request tracks and who can approve or manage them. Requests might come through YouTube chat, a separate request page, or moderators entering items manually. Those are different workflows: a browser overlay does not, by itself, establish that a request tool can read YouTube chat or control your player.
Before choosing a tool, verify its current documentation for the exact platform and workflow you intend to use. In particular, check how requests are added, whether approval is possible, who can skip or remove items, and whether duplicate requests can be prevented. Do not assume that a tool supports YouTube chat just because it has a queue overlay.
Choose a queue display that fits your stream
Some overlays can show the current track and upcoming items; available display controls may include item count, artwork, playback progress, requester names, theme, width, scale, and opacity. Those are possible controls described by a third-party OBS resource, not a guarantee that any specific tool works with YouTube requests. OBS forum resources

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Compare candidate setups by asking whether they display only the current track or the upcoming queue as well, what track and requester details they can show, and whether their queue updates from your actual player. Also check whether playback and queue processing depend on a browser page or other runtime staying open. A third-party Nightbot community dock listing, for example, says its AutoDJ page must remain open for playback and queue processing; that is a detail to verify for the specific tool, not general Nightbot guidance. Add the queue overlay to an OBS scene
- Get the overlay URL. Choose a queue tool that provides a browser-source URL, then configure its display options. If you build a custom overlay, connect it to the queue or playback data it needs.
- Add a Browser Source. In OBS, select the scene used for the radio stream, add a Browser Source, and enter the overlay URL. Set the source dimensions to suit the overlay and your canvas.
- Position and size it. Place the queue where it remains legible without covering important visuals. If the overlay provides width, scale, or opacity controls, adjust them and check the result in the scene preview.
- Test real updates. Add a request through the intended method, approve or remove it if your workflow requires that, and confirm that the overlay updates when the queue changes and when playback moves to another track. Test artwork, requester details, and progress only if you plan to display them.
- Check the production scene. Verify that the Browser Source is visible in the scene actually sent to YouTube, not only in a separate test scene. Confirm the request page or player remains available if the workflow depends on it.
Connect OBS to YouTube and test before broadcasting
- In YouTube Studio, open Create > Go live and create or select the live stream you intend to use.
- In Live Control Room, copy the stream URL and stream key into the matching fields in OBS under Settings > Stream. Treat the key like a password: do not show or share it. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update OBS with the replacement.
- Start the encoder and check the Live Control Room preview. Confirm that the stream picture, audio, queue overlay, and request-update path all behave as intended before starting the public broadcast.
- Test with the same privacy setting, audio routing, overlay, and request method you expect to use in production. If you need a complete archive, make a local recording as well as relying on YouTube’s replay.

Music rights and live detection
YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the creator to secure the necessary rights, including music licensing rights. YouTube also scans live streams for third-party content; a match can interrupt or terminate the stream. Even if you have licensed music, the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Livestream terms and conditions · Copyright issues with live streams

Replay archives and DVR
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived. Streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all, so a 24/7 broadcast should not be treated as a guaranteed complete replay. Keep a local recording if you need a dependable archive. YouTube’s DVR feature lets viewers pause and rewind, but rewind is limited on very long streams and may be unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. Troubleshoot a queue that is missing or stale
- The overlay is blank: Check that the Browser Source URL is correct, the source is enabled in the active scene, and the page loads. Confirm the overlay is configured and has access to its queue data.
- Requests appear in the tool but not on stream: Check whether the overlay is connected to that exact queue and whether it refreshes on queue changes. A request page and a display overlay may be separate parts of a tool.
- The queue updates only while a page is open: Determine whether the player or request dock must stay open for processing. If it does, include that runtime in your operating plan and test what happens if the page closes or reloads.
- The wrong scene reaches YouTube: Check the active OBS scene and confirm the Browser Source is present in it. Review the Live Control Room preview before going live.
- The YouTube preview has no video or audio: Verify the selected stream, stream URL and key in OBS, and the relevant video and audio sources. Check the preview again after correcting the connection.
- The stream is interrupted after music plays: Review YouTube’s copyright notifications and resolve rights or Content ID allowlisting issues with the relevant rights owner. A license does not guarantee uninterrupted live playback if the channel is not allowlisted.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo keeps an uploaded-video YouTube stream running from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Upload your recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It streams what you uploaded at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream, and the first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. This is a cloud option for uploaded-video streams, not a camera broadcast; the queue overlay and request workflow still need to be configured and tested for your setup.
