Nintendo’s guidance applies to amiibo, while the paper-care recommendations below come from the Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI) and are general conservation advice—not Fire Emblem-specific testing.
Care for Fire Emblem amiibo figures
Nintendo’s amiibo Instruction Booklet advises keeping figures away from heat sources and prolonged direct sunlight, which may cause deformation or malfunction. It also cautions against high humidity, getting the figure wet, extended contact with resin products, and pressure that could deform it.
- Choose a display location away from heaters, stoves, damp areas, and sustained direct sun.
- Do not place a figure where another object or a tight support will press on it for a prolonged period.
- If dirt needs removing, Nintendo recommends wiping carefully with a soft, dry cloth.
Nintendo does not specify a universally safe display-case or riser material for every amiibo, nor does its advice establish how all third-party figures, coatings, or plastics will react. Avoid assuming one case material suits every collectible.
Protect amiibo cards from bending and scratches
Nintendo’s amiibo cards: Health and Safety Information says cards contain electronic parts and warns against bending or scratching them.

- Keep cards supported and avoid storing them where they can flex.
- Handle them by their edges when practical to reduce surface contact.
- If using a sleeve, choose a suitable fit; do not force a card into an undersized sleeve.
Polypropylene trading-card sleeves are one possible accessory category because CCI identifies polypropylene as a stable plastic for paper-object enclosures. That is general conservation guidance, not Nintendo certification or a guarantee that every sleeve is appropriate for amiibo cards.
Store manuals, books, prints, and other paper collectibles
For paper objects, CCI recommends protective folders or enclosures made from buffered paper or board, or stable plastics such as PET or polypropylene. Archival boxes provide added protection. Its guidance is for paper collections generally; it does not certify those enclosures for amiibo electronics or figure plastics.

CCI says temperature, relative humidity, and light affect paper deterioration. Its general guidance recommends relative humidity below 50% for paper collections and reducing both light intensity and the length of time objects are exposed. Keep paper items away from damp conditions and heat sources, and use a protective folder or box when they are not on display.
Display paper art with less light exposure
For framed works on paper, CCI recommends UV-filtering glazing. It also recommends keeping the artwork from directly contacting the glazing. For sensitive paper materials—such as watercolours, coloured prints, and works on poor-quality paper—CCI gives 50 lux as a recommended illumination level. This is guidance for those sensitive materials, not a universal limit for every collectible.

Light damage is cumulative, so reducing display duration as well as brightness can help limit exposure. CCI’s recommendations are general paper-conservation guidance, not results from a Fire Emblem-specific preservation study.

Before choosing an enclosure or display setup, consider what the item is made of and how it will be used. A method that protects a paper print does not automatically suit a figure or an electronic card.

- Material compatibility: Is the advice manufacturer-specific, or general conservation guidance for paper?
- Exposure: Does the setup reduce light, dust, and handling without putting the item near damp conditions, humidity changes, or heat?
- Physical support: Could a tight sleeve bend a card, or could a support or stored object press on a figure?
- Display habits: Can you reduce how long a sensitive paper item is on display or how often a collectible is handled?
- Framed paper art: Does the frame have UV-filtering glazing and keep the artwork from directly touching it?
As one example of a Fire Emblem collectible, Nintendo lists the Alm amiibo as released on May 19, 2017, and available exclusively in a Fire Emblem series two-pack. Nintendo notes that compatibility and functionality vary by game. See the official Alm amiibo product page for those product details.
