To show each changing Tamil song title on a 24/7 YouTube music stream, add it to the video image as an on-screen text overlay. Use the current-track metadata from your music player or automation system, pass it to an overlay, and render it with a Tamil-capable font. Changing the YouTube broadcast title updates stream metadata; it does not put each song name on screen.
How the title gets from your player to the stream
The playback or automation system needs to provide the current track name. Your streaming layout then displays that text, and the resulting video feed carries it to YouTube. OBS Project describes its text sources as a way to “add simple text renders to your stream or recording layout” in its Text Sources documentation.
YouTube’s Live Streaming API distinguishes a broadcast from the stream that carries its audiovisual feed. A broadcast has descriptive information such as a title; an on-screen song label must be included in the video itself. The API’s live-chat methods concern chat messages, not a player’s changing track metadata. See Google’s Live Streaming API overview, LiveBroadcasts reference, and live chat documentation.
Set up a Tamil now-playing overlay in OBS
- Find the now-playing title. Check the music player or automation software for its current-track metadata and an option to write that value to a text file or otherwise expose it. The exact integration depends on that software; the YouTube API references do not establish how a particular player provides its metadata.
- Connect the title to an OBS text source. In your OBS scene, add a text source and enable its option to read text from a file. Point it to the file your playback system updates. OBS documents reading text from a file, but the system that writes or refreshes that file must be configured separately.
- Keep Tamil in Unicode. Use the original Tamil text rather than transliterating it just to work around display problems. Unicode says Tamil support is implemented in major desktop and mobile operating systems and browsers; that does not guarantee a suitable font is installed or selected on your streaming host. - Choose a font available where OBS renders the overlay. Noto Sans Tamil is a font to test; Unicode lists Noto among Indic font resources. Confirm the font is installed on the machine running OBS, not only on a different computer used to edit the setup. See Unicode’s Indic scripts and languages FAQ and Noto’s font-use documentation.
- Place and style the text. Position the source inside the visible safe area of your layout. Choose a size and contrast that remain readable against the background, and allow room for long names and mixed Tamil, Latin, or punctuation.
- Preview real titles at the output resolution. Check Tamil vowel signs, long titles, mixed-script names, and punctuation. Unicode notes that some Tamil vowel signs are encoded after their consonant but render visually to its left; retain the correct Unicode sequence and let the text renderer shape it rather than rearranging characters manually. Unicode’s Tamil block is U+0B80–U+0BFF, and the Tamil Supplement is U+11FC0–U+11FFF; these are encoding ranges, not instructions to alter a title. See Unicode 18.0.0, Chapter 12.
- Verify track changes in a preview or controlled live test. Confirm the displayed title changes when playback advances, does not remain stuck on the previous song, and still fits the layout. Repeat after restarting the stream or automation so you know the file update and overlay recover together.
Choose an overlay approach that fits your setup

Why changing the YouTube title is not enough
The broadcast title describes the YouTube broadcast or video; it is not a documented per-song overlay mechanism. To show each track name to viewers as it plays, include the name in the visual feed. Likewise, live-chat API methods are for chat rather than automatically displaying music-player metadata as an overlay.

Check music rights before leaving the stream running
Confirm that you have the necessary rights to stream the recordings, and watch for notices in YouTube Studio. YouTube warns that third-party content identified during a live stream can cause the stream to be replaced with a placeholder image or stopped. Its guidance describes platform handling; it does not determine whether a particular recording is legally usable in every territory.
