AION 2 is live globally as of October 5, 2026. Install it on Windows through its official Steam listing or through NCSOFT’s PURPLE launcher. Both routes offer the same game content on shared servers; choose based on the launcher you prefer and whether you want to use the same character and progress on both platforms.
Check your PC before downloading
AION 2’s official global PC support is for Windows through Steam or PURPLE. The Steam listing specifies Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), DirectX 12, broadband internet, and 100 GB of available storage. SSD storage is recommended. These are the storefront requirements as listed on October 7, 2026; check the Steam listing again in case they change.

Steam’s additional notes specify low graphics presets for FHD at the minimum and recommended tiers. Meeting the minimum requirements does not mean the game will run at the recommended settings.
Install AION 2 through Steam
- Open the official AION 2 Steam listing and sign in to Steam if needed.
- Choose the option to install the game, then follow Steam’s prompts to select an install location and start the download.
- Allow up to 100 GB of available storage, and wait for the download and installation to finish before launching the game.
If you previously installed the separate AION 2 Steam Playtest app, the official notice says to uninstall that Playtest app and download AION 2 separately for Advanced Access. This warning is about the test app, not a reason to remove or reinstall the current retail game.

Install AION 2 through PURPLE
- Go to NCSOFT’s official PURPLE download page and download the launcher.
- Install PURPLE. NCSOFT’s installer instructions identify the downloaded installer as PurpleInstaller; run it and follow its prompts.
- Sign in with the appropriate account, then select AION 2 in PURPLE and follow the launcher’s prompts to install the game.
PURPLE’s screens and button labels may change. Use the official download page rather than an old regional pre-download schedule: the global launch took place in October 2026, and earlier Korea/Taiwan pre-download dates do not describe the current global release.
Choose a launcher and decide whether to link accounts
Steam and PURPLE players get the same in-game content and share the same servers, so neither launcher has a gameplay-content advantage. Use the launcher that fits your existing setup unless you want one character and its progress available from both.

- Use both platforms: Link your Steam and PURPLE accounts if you want to access the same character and progress on both. The official Steam listing and launch information link to the relevant account guidance.
What to know about preload files and platform support
If you pre-downloaded the game before access opened, some files may remain encrypted until the unlock. Steam’s official notice says the client decrypts them when access opens; that process is not a reinstallation. This applies to the preload-and-unlock situation, not to an ordinary completed installation.
The official global support target is Windows PC through Steam or PURPLE. The launch FAQ says other devices may be playable, but Linux and Steam Deck are not officially supported, and controller support is not official. Check the current platform guidance before relying on an unofficial setup.

If the download or launch does not work
- Not enough disk space: Confirm at least 100 GB is available on the drive you chose before starting the install.
- Using the old Playtest app: Remove the separate Playtest app and install the live game from its Steam listing; do not treat the Playtest notice as a direction to reinstall the retail client.
- Preloaded files appear unavailable: If access has not opened yet, wait for the unlock; encrypted preload files are expected to decrypt through Steam after access opens.
- Looking for Linux, Steam Deck, or controller support: These are not official support targets in the global launch FAQ.
