The safest way to get That’s not my Neighbor is through one of two official releases: the newer remake on Steam, or the original desktop game on Nacho Sama’s itch.io page. They are separate games with different files and save data, so choose the version you actually want before downloading.
For most new Windows and Linux players, the Steam remake is the simplest option. If you want the original release—or need a Mac version—use the developer’s official itch.io page. Avoid APKs, browser copies, torrents, cracked ZIP files, and similarly named listings unless Nacho Sama has explicitly announced them.

Which version of That’s not my Neighbor should you download?
| Version | Official source | Platforms identified by the developer or store | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Steam remake | Steam | Windows and SteamOS + Linux | New Windows or Linux players who want the newer release and integrated installation |
| Original release | Nacho Sama’s itch.io page | Windows, macOS, and Linux | Players seeking the original game or Mac support |
The remake is not an update to the first game. The releases are separate products, their save data is not interchangeable, and progress cannot be transferred between them. The Steam version also includes Steam-specific features such as achievements, while some itch.io builds do not include those features.

The indexed U.S. Steam listing identifies Nachosama Games as both developer and publisher, gives March 11, 2025 as the release date, and lists the price as $2.99. Prices and availability can change by country and over time, so check the store page for the amount shown in your region.

Steam installation steps
- Install and open the official Steam client.
- Search for the exact title That’s not my Neighbor.
- Check that Nachosama Games is shown as both the developer and publisher. Do not assume that a similarly titled listing is genuine.

The Steam listing describes a single-player job simulator in which you work as an apartment-building doorman. You inspect applicants’ documents and identifying details to decide whether they are genuine residents or doppelgängers. The listed modes are Campaign, Arcade, Nightmare, and Custom.
Steam system requirements
The store listing gives these minimum requirements for the Windows build:
- 64-bit processor and operating system
- Windows 10
- Approximately 2 GHz processing power
- 2 GB of memory
- A relatively modern dedicated graphics card with Vulkan support and DirectX 10
- 500 MB of available storage
The SteamOS + Linux entry likewise lists a 64-bit system, approximately 2 GHz processing power, 2 GB of memory, Vulkan-capable graphics, and 500 MB of storage. Steam lists SteamOS 12.5 as the minimum operating-system entry.

These are minimum store-page requirements, not a guarantee that the game will run correctly. Vulkan support is particularly important: the developer’s troubleshooting information warns that a computer without Vulkan support may be unable to run the game.
Option 2: Download the original release from itch.io
If you want the first version of the game, use Nacho Sama’s official itch.io page, not a download mirror. The developer describes the original as a downloadable 2D horror-tinged working simulator for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

itch.io installation steps
- Open Nacho Sama’s official itch.io page.
- Select the game’s Download or purchase/download control.
- If itch.io says the game is unavailable, sign in to the account used to buy it.
- Choose the archive or executable matching your operating system: Windows, macOS, or Linux.
- Extract the downloaded archive if it is a ZIP or another compressed file.
- Run the executable for your platform.
The itch.io purchase/download page shows files from multiple original-release versions, including Windows, Mac, and Linux builds such as 1.0.3.3, 1.1.0.2, and 1.2.0.2. It also lists a 2.0 build at $2.99. Earlier files may appear as free, name-your-own-price, or available to previous purchasers depending on the account and the version. Do not assume that every visitor can download every listed build for free.
Early buyers may be able to retrieve their files from their itch.io library or through the page’s You own this game download control. If the page does not show the expected files, sign in to the purchasing account before troubleshooting anything else.
Mac-specific launch instructions
The original itch.io release includes a Mac ZIP archive. If macOS blocks the first launch, follow the developer’s documented process:
- Right-click the game application.
- Choose Open.
- When macOS presents the security warning, choose Open Anyway.
This prompt can occur when macOS has not previously approved an application. It is not a reason to download the game from a random mirror: obtain the archive from the developer’s itch.io page and verify that you downloaded the Mac build.

Can you play it on Android, iPhone, or in a browser?
Do not assume that an Android or iOS app using the game’s name is official. The developer’s itch.io comments identify a Google Play app using the title but published by SoulvenWorks rather than Nacho Sama; that is not evidence of an authorized mobile release.

A search result, fan page, browser “online version,” APK, or mobile port is not automatically an official release. Unless Nacho Sama specifically announces that distribution, treat it as unofficial.
For that reason, this guide does not provide links to cracked downloads, modified executables, torrents, “free APKs,” or unofficial browser copies. Such files may be altered, outdated, mislabeled, bundled with unwanted software, or entirely unrelated to the game.
What to do if the game will not launch
Start with the basic compatibility checks rather than downloading a different copy.
1. Confirm that you downloaded the correct version
- For Steam, confirm that the listing names Nachosama Games as developer and publisher.
- For itch.io, confirm that the file came from Nacho Sama’s page.
- Make sure you selected the build for your operating system.
- Remember that the original itch.io game and Steam remake are not interchangeable.
2. Check 64-bit support, memory, storage, and Vulkan
On Windows or Linux, compare your computer with the Steam minimums: a 64-bit operating system, roughly 2 GHz processor, 2 GB RAM, 500 MB free storage, and Vulkan-capable graphics. A lack of Vulkan support can prevent the game from running even when the other specifications appear adequate.

3. Update through official channels
For Windows, first install available updates through Windows Update. Then check the support page for your computer manufacturer or graphics-card manufacturer and install the appropriate official graphics driver. Restart the computer and try launching the game again.
A driver update cannot add Vulkan support to hardware that does not provide it, and no driver utility is required to download the game. If the hardware itself lacks the needed graphics support, a different computer or compatible hardware may be necessary.
4. Recheck the Mac security prompt
If the original Mac build was downloaded from the official itch.io page but macOS blocks it, use the developer’s right-click, Open, then Open Anyway flow. Do not disable Mac security protections globally or replace the official download with an unverified copy.
5. Use the developer’s support and refund routes
If the computer does not support Vulkan, the developer’s troubleshooting information discusses that limitation and indicates that an itch.io refund request may be appropriate in qualifying cases. Refund eligibility depends on the storefront’s rules and the circumstances of the purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I transfer my save from the itch.io version to Steam?
No. The original itch.io release and the Steam remake are separate games, and their save data cannot be transferred.
Which version should Mac users download?
Use the original release from Nacho Sama’s official itch.io page. The developer stated that the Steam release would not be available for Mac, while the itch.io page includes a Mac ZIP archive.
Is there an official Android or iPhone version?
You should not assume so. An app using the title but published by another developer is not evidence of an official mobile release. Use only a mobile version explicitly announced by Nacho Sama.
Why will the game not start on my computer?
Check that you downloaded the correct platform build, have a 64-bit operating system, enough memory and storage, and graphics hardware with Vulkan support. Vulkan compatibility is a key requirement identified in the developer’s troubleshooting information. On Windows, update through Windows Update and your computer or GPU manufacturer before considering any third-party utility.
The Bottom Line
For a new Windows or Linux player, buy and install the remake from the official Steam listing after confirming Nachosama Games is the developer and publisher. For the original game or Mac support, use Nacho Sama’s official itch.io page and sign in to the purchasing account if necessary. Do not download unofficial APKs, browser copies, torrents, cracked files, or similarly named listings.
