The Nekome: Nazi Hunter demo is a separate, free Windows app on Steam. Its Steam app ID is 4859720, and it is scheduled to release at 17:00 UTC on October 19, 2026. The announced playable period is October 19–26 during Steam Next Fest. Once the download option is active, install it from the Nekome: Nazi Hunter store page, then launch the separate Nekome: Nazi Hunter Demo entry in your Library.
As of October 17, 2026, the event window has not started, so the demo may not yet be downloadable. It is listed for Windows, and its content is excluded from Steam Family Sharing.

What the Nekome demo is
The matching game is Nekome: Nazi Hunter. The demo is not a trial branch hidden inside another game and is not a similarly named cat-themed title. Steam lists it as its own free application, app 4859720, with a separate Library entry named Nekome: Nazi Hunter Demo.
The demo focuses on Horde of the Reich, an extra mode built around surviving successive combat stages and chasing a high score. The official Steam announcement describes 25 increasingly brutal stages. It also identifies stealth, brawling, gunplay, unlockable skills and improvised weapons as parts of the mode.

The Steam Community announcement uses the wording: “Play the Nekome: Nazi Hunter demo FREE on Steam from October 19–26 during Steam Next Fest.” The 17:00 UTC release time comes from the current SteamDB listing. Store metadata and event availability can change, so check the live Steam page when the event begins rather than relying on an old search result or cached listing.
What you need before downloading
- A Steam account and the Steam client installed on a Windows computer.
- An internet connection sufficient to download and install a game.
- Access to Steam during the announced October 19–26, 2026 window if you are downloading during Next Fest.
- Enough free disk space for the installation. The currently available information does not state the demo’s storage requirement.
No verified CPU, GPU or RAM minimums have been published in the available app information. Do not assume requirements from another game or from the planned full release. If Steam later displays hardware requirements, use those current values for your system check.

1. Open Steam during the release window
Start the Steam client after the scheduled release time, 17:00 UTC on October 19, 2026. If you are converting the time locally, remember that the listing is expressed in UTC; the local clock time varies by time zone and daylight-saving rules.
2. Find the correct game
Use Steam’s search field and enter Nekome: Nazi Hunter, or open that game’s store page from your existing wishlist or event discovery page. Check the title carefully. The demo belongs to Nekome: Nazi Hunter, not another game using “Neko,” “N.E.K.O.” or a similar name.

3. Select the demo download option
When the listing is active, the store page should expose the demo’s download control. Select that option rather than only selecting Wishlist for the full game. Steam will treat the download as the separate demo application, app 4859720.
4. Wait for installation to finish
Steam places the download in your normal installation library and shows its progress in the Downloads view. Keep the client open until the installation completes. If you cancel it, return to the Downloads view or the demo’s Library page to resume it.

Open Library and look for Nekome: Nazi Hunter Demo. The separate entry is the useful confirmation that you installed the demo rather than merely wishlisted the unreleased full game.
How to launch and play it
- Open Steam and choose Library.
- Select Nekome: Nazi Hunter Demo in the game list.
- Wait until the installation status is complete.
- Click Play.
- Choose the Horde of the Reich mode from the available game menu and begin a run.
The mode is structured around 25 stages that become increasingly brutal. Its stated systems include stealth, close-quarters brawling, firearms, unlockable skills and improvised weapons. The central objective is survival and a high score, so the demo is designed for repeated runs rather than a single linear campaign walkthrough.
What is included in Horde of the Reich
Twenty-five escalating stages
The official announcement identifies 25 stages. Difficulty increases as the run progresses, making route choices, combat decisions and skill unlocks increasingly important. The announcement does not publish a stage-by-stage map, enemy roster or completion time, so those details should be learned from the game itself rather than treated as confirmed specifications.

Multiple ways to survive
Stealth, brawling and gunplay are all named features. That means the mode is not presented as a single-weapon shooting gallery: players can approach encounters through concealment, close combat or firearms, subject to what each stage makes available.
Skills and improvised weapons
Unlockable skills provide progression within the mode, while improvised weapons expand the tools available during a run. The published announcement does not specify the complete skill tree, weapon list or unlock conditions, so those details may only become clear after playing.
Score chasing
Horde of the Reich explicitly includes a high-score pursuit. If you are comparing runs, record the score shown by the game and the conditions of the run; no official leaderboard rules or scoring formula has been published with the announcement.
Windows support and unsupported access paths
The current Steam app metadata lists Windows. That is the platform you should treat as supported for this demo. The available listing does not confirm native macOS or Linux builds, console versions, handheld compatibility or a supported compatibility layer. A non-Windows device may show a Steam installation option in some circumstances, but that is not evidence of official support.
The demo is excluded from Steam Family Sharing according to the current SteamDB record. A family member therefore should not expect to launch it through another account’s shared library. The practical access path is to use the Steam account that obtains the free demo directly.

If the demo is not visible
The date is before October 19
Before the scheduled release at 17:00 UTC on October 19, the demo may have no active download button. That is expected for an unreleased app. Check again when the release time arrives instead of repeatedly reinstalling Steam or searching for an unofficial download.
The event has started but the button is missing
- Confirm that the current time has passed 17:00 UTC on October 19.
- Refresh the store page in Steam.
- Search for the exact title, Nekome: Nazi Hunter, and inspect the page for a demo-specific control.
- Restart the Steam client if the page is still showing stale information.
- Check your Library and Downloads view for an entry named Nekome: Nazi Hunter Demo.
If none of these steps works, the publisher or Steam may have changed the release timing or availability. Use the live store listing as the current authority.
You only see the full game’s wishlist controls
Wishlist and demo access are separate. The full game is planned for Q1 2027, while the demo is its own app. Return to the store page during the event and look specifically for the demo download option; do not mistake a wishlist confirmation for an installation.
The demo installs but will not launch
- Verify that the installation has finished in Steam’s Downloads view.
- Launch the entry named Nekome: Nazi Hunter Demo, not an unfinished download or a shortcut to the full-game page.
- Restart Steam and try the Library’s Play button again.
- Check the live store page for updated platform or system information.
Because published information does not provide CPU, GPU or RAM requirements, there is no responsible way to diagnose a hardware mismatch from unverified numbers. If the game reports a specific requirement or error, use that message and the current Steam support information.

Downloading during Next Fest versus waiting
| Choice | What it means | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Download October 19–26 | Play during the announced Steam Next Fest window while the demo is explicitly promoted as free. | Players who want to try Horde of the Reich during the event and pursue a score immediately. |
| Wait for a later listing | The announced event window ends October 26; continued access afterward is not established by the current announcement. | Players who cannot play during Next Fest and are willing to check whether the demo remains listed later. |
| Wishlist the full game | Tracks the planned Q1 2027 release but does not install the demo. | Players interested in the eventual full release rather than immediate demo access. |
If trying the demo matters to you, downloading during the announced window is the only period explicitly confirmed for access. Availability after October 26 should be checked on the live Steam page rather than assumed.
