The simplest supported way to get them is through the in-game Marketplace: find the content in your library, download it, then activate its resource or behavior pack for a world. The activation steps differ slightly for a new world, an existing world, and a Realm.
What “mods” are called in Bedrock
Minecraft’s official term for Bedrock customizations is Add-Ons. They use resource packs and behavior packs to modify things such as mobs, blocks, and items. Minecraft describes Add-Ons and creator resources at Minecraft Creator Tutorials for Add-Ons.

This guide covers downloading Marketplace content and activating it in a world. The exact steps for importing a downloaded third-party file are not established for every Bedrock platform, so the Marketplace instructions below are the documented, in-game route.
Download an Add-On from the Marketplace
- Launch Minecraft: Bedrock Edition and open Marketplace.
- Open My Library.
- Find the content under Owned or Marketplace Pass.
- Choose Download, Create this World, or Equip, depending on the content and what you want to do with it. Minecraft’s guide to accessing content explains these library options: How to Access Minecraft Marketplace Content.
If you have just purchased an item, open its Marketplace page and select Download; see Minecraft’s purchase instructions.

- In the world settings, open Resource packs or Behavior packs.
- Find the Add-On under Available and activate it.

Fix an Add-On that will not load or work correctly
Minecraft recommends updating and restarting the game first. If that does not resolve the issue, work through these checks:

- Check activation: Confirm the pack is enabled in the world’s Resource packs or Behavior packs settings.
- Look for conflicts: Temporarily disable other Add-Ons. Minecraft notes conflicts are especially possible with three or more enabled Add-Ons or when adding them to a Marketplace world.
- Reorder packs: When packs affect the same asset, the higher-ranked pack takes priority. Change the order if a different pack’s content is appearing.
- Redownload the content: If a pack is missing or appears corrupted, download it again.
- Test a new world: Trying the Add-On in a fresh world can help determine whether the issue is tied to that world or another enabled pack.
These steps come from Minecraft’s Add-On troubleshooting guide.

Minecraft says free Add-Ons and customized worlds are available from community sources as well as the Marketplace, but that does not verify a particular website or file as safe or current. The import steps can vary by platform, and the documented Minecraft Education instructions for files such as .mcpack and .mcaddon should not be treated as universal instructions for consumer Bedrock on Windows, mobile, consoles, or Chromebook. If you use a third-party file, find instructions specific to your platform from a reliable source before opening it.
