How to download Call of Duty: Warzone on PC
Warzone is the simplest legitimate entry point because it is free to play. Activision lists it for Windows PC through Battle.net and Steam. Both routes still require an Activision account for online play.

- Select All Games.
- Find and select Call of Duty: Warzone.
- Select Install.
- Choose the installation drive or folder if Battle.net asks where to place the game.
- Let the launcher finish downloading and applying updates before starting the game.
Install Warzone through Steam
- Install and open Steam.
- Sign in to a Steam account.
- Search the Steam store for Call of Duty: Warzone, or open it from your Steam library if it is already associated with your account.
- Select Install or Play Game on the free listing.
- Choose an installation location with enough free space.
- Allow Steam and the Call of Duty launcher to download all required files and updates.
Warzone’s Steam listing identifies online multiplayer and cross-platform multiplayer support, but cross-play does not remove the requirement for an Activision account. You may also be asked to connect your Steam or Battle.net account to Activision the first time you launch the game.
How to download Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on PC
Black Ops 7 is the current premium PC release covered by Activision’s PC information. It includes campaign/co-op, multiplayer, and Zombies. Activision lists four PC access routes: Battle.net, Steam, Xbox PC, and PC Game Pass.
Buy and install Black Ops 7 through Battle.net or Steam
- Open the official Call of Duty PC page or the Black Ops 7 listing in your preferred storefront.
- Choose the edition you want and check its price, included content, and system requirements.
- Complete the purchase if you are not using an eligible subscription.
- Install or open Battle.net or Steam and sign in to the account that owns the game.
- Find Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 in the launcher and select Install.
- Select an SSD installation location with sufficient free space.
- Start the game after the launcher has completed the base download, updates, and any required file verification.
The Steam listing states that Black Ops 7 requires a third-party Activision account. The same account requirement applies to the online Call of Duty experience even when you purchase through another PC storefront.

Install Black Ops 7 with PC Game Pass
Xbox states that Black Ops 7 is included with Game Pass for play on PC. If you already have an eligible PC Game Pass subscription, this may be preferable to purchasing a separate copy. See Black Ops 7 on PC Game Pass in the Xbox app and confirm that the title is included in your region and current plan before relying on this route.
- Install the Xbox app for Windows.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account associated with your eligible subscription.
- Search for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
- Open the game’s listing and select Install.
- Choose an SSD location with enough available space.
- Sign in to or connect the required Activision account when prompted.
Game Pass access is subscription-based, not permanent ownership. The included title, plan requirements, pricing, and availability can change, so confirm the current Xbox listing before installing.
PC requirements for Black Ops 7
Activision’s published requirements are launch-era figures and can change with patches, seasons, and additional content. Treat the storage number as a minimum planning figure rather than a guarantee that future updates will fit without extra space.
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 64-bit, latest update | Windows 11 |
| Processor | AMD Ryzen 5 1400 or Intel Core i5-6600 | AMD Ryzen 5 1600X or Intel Core i7-6700K |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | 12 GB RAM |
| Graphics | AMD Radeon RX 470, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970/1060, or Intel Arc A580; 3 GB video memory listed | AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, or Intel Arc B580; 8 GB video memory listed |
| Storage | Approximately 116 GB available on an SSD at launch | An SSD with additional free space for updates is advisable |
| Other | Broadband internet, DirectX 12 compatibility, and a supported Intel or AMD processor with AVX | Broadband internet and current graphics drivers |
If your computer does not meet these specifications, compare a PC that meets Black Ops 7 requirements rather than relying on a listing that only says it is a “gaming PC.” Check the exact CPU, graphics card, RAM, SSD capacity, Windows edition, DirectX 12 support, and firmware settings. A computer advertised for Warzone is not automatically guaranteed to run Black Ops 7, particularly if the listing is old or does not identify its components clearly.
TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are required
Activision separately specifies security requirements for Black Ops 7 and Warzone. Your system should meet all of the following:

- Windows 10 version 22H2 or later, or Windows 11
- TPM 2.0 enabled
- UEFI boot mode rather than Legacy or Compatibility Support Module mode
- Secure Boot enabled
These settings are configured in your PC’s UEFI/firmware menus, not normally inside Steam or Battle.net. Changing firmware settings incorrectly can affect whether Windows starts, so check your motherboard or laptop manufacturer’s instructions first. If Windows already uses Legacy boot mode, do not simply toggle settings without checking whether the system disk is configured for the required UEFI mode.
Warzone PC requirements and storage
Activision’s current Warzone store information lists Windows 10 64-bit, DirectX 12 compatibility, broadband internet, 8 GB of RAM, and approximately 125 GB of storage for the displayed requirements. Those figures are subject to change as the game receives updates and additional content.
Call of Duty installations can consume substantial space because the launcher may download shared files, high-resolution assets, campaign or multiplayer components, and large patches. Leave more free space than the displayed requirement whenever possible. An SSD for Call of Duty installation can help with load times and is required for Black Ops 7 according to the published requirements, but replacing a hard drive will not solve insufficient RAM, an unsupported graphics card, or disabled TPM and Secure Boot.
Which PC storefront should you use?
- Choose Battle.net if you already use Blizzard’s launcher or want Activision’s direct PC storefront route.
- Choose Steam if your games and friends are already there. Warzone is listed as free to play, while Black Ops 7 is sold as a paid title.
- Choose the Xbox app if you have an eligible PC Game Pass subscription and want to access Black Ops 7 through that plan.
For a purchased game, use the same storefront account that owns the license. Switching launchers does not necessarily transfer ownership, and you should not assume that buying an edition on one platform grants a second standalone PC license on another.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What to do if the download or launch fails
There is not enough storage
Check the launcher’s selected installation drive, not only the drive containing Windows. Remove unused games or move them to another drive, and leave additional headroom for updates. If you add a drive, an SSD for gaming is the appropriate type for Black Ops 7’s SSD requirement; verify its capacity and compatibility with your desktop or laptop before buying.
The launcher cannot find the game
Confirm that you are signed in to the correct Steam, Battle.net, or Microsoft account and that the title was purchased or included with the active subscription on that account. Search for the exact title rather than the generic term “Call of Duty.” If the game is already installed, use the launcher’s locate, scan, or verify-files option instead of downloading an unofficial installer.
You receive a TPM, Secure Boot, or security error
In Windows, check whether the PC is running a supported Windows version and whether TPM 2.0 is available and enabled. Then check the UEFI settings for UEFI boot mode and Secure Boot. Firmware menus differ by manufacturer. Do not disable security features to bypass the error; use Activision’s current support guidance and the computer manufacturer’s instructions.

The game crashes or performs poorly
Install current Windows and graphics-driver updates, close unnecessary applications, and confirm that the PC meets the recommended rather than merely minimum specifications. Minimum requirements generally describe a supported starting point, not a promise of high resolution or a particular frame rate. If the problem began after an update, use the launcher’s file-repair or verification tool and check the current Activision support notices.

Stay safe while downloading Call of Duty
Use only Activision-linked storefronts, Battle.net, Steam, or the official Xbox app for Windows. Avoid websites offering a “free full version” of a paid Call of Duty game, cracked installers, key generators, or unofficial launchers. They create unnecessary risks of malware, account theft, counterfeit files, and lost purchases. Warzone is legitimately free through the official stores; you do not need a third-party download site to obtain it.
Before installing, verify three things: the exact Call of Duty title, the storefront account that will own or access it, and the current storage and hardware requirements. That prevents the most common mistake—installing Warzone when you wanted Black Ops 7, or buying a PC advertised for Call of Duty without checking its actual components.

Can I play Black Ops 7 on PC Game Pass?
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is a paid game on Steam and Battle.net, but Xbox states that it is included with Game Pass for PC. Confirm that your current plan and region include the game before installing through the Xbox app.

Black Ops 7 requires TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot, with Windows 10 version 22H2 or later or Windows 11, UEFI boot mode, and a compatible PC. These settings are managed in Windows and your PC’s UEFI firmware, not usually in Steam or Battle.net.
