Does Genshin Impact have an official mod-download process?
No official process is established in the guidance reviewed. HoYoverse’s English Terms of Service restrict software or applications that may interfere with or disrupt its services. The Terms also say service materials may not be modified without Cognosphere’s express prior written permission. That contractual language is not a ruling on every individual mod, but it does not provide permission or instructions for players to install them.
Why does HoYoverse warn against third-party tools?
HoYoverse’s account-security guidance says: “Do not trust any information you receive from unofficial sources, and do not use any third-party tools, plug-ins, or assistants.” It also advises players not to share passwords or verification codes with third parties.
The Terms describe cheat-detection software that may identify potentially unauthorized programs or processes. They do not publish a mod-by-mod detection or enforcement list, so there is no reliable basis here to promise that a particular mod or loader will go undetected—or to claim that every cosmetic modification is detected or results in a ban.
