You can download GTA 5 for PC free only if you already own the PC version: Rockstar’s free Enhanced upgrade is for existing owners, not a free full-game license for new players. Rockstar’s current PC purchase includes both GTAV Enhanced and GTAV Legacy. To get the game legitimately, buy or redeem it through an official storefront, then install it using the account and launcher tied to your entitlement.
Is there a free full version of GTA 5 for PC?
Rockstar’s official information does not establish a free full PC copy for new players. Its February 27, 2025 announcement says the Enhanced version is available free to people who already own GTAV on PC. That is an upgrade to an existing game entitlement, not a free license for someone who has never bought the game. Read Rockstar’s announcement.

- Choose a legitimate storefront. Open Rockstar Store, Rockstar Games Launcher, Steam, or Epic Games Launcher, and check that the current listing is for the intended PC version and region.

- Check your PC against the edition requirements. Review the specifications below and make sure you have the required storage before starting the download.

GTA 5 PC system requirements: Enhanced vs. Legacy
Rockstar lists separate requirements for the two PC versions. Its current product page says a PC purchase includes both; Legacy is included for systems that do not meet Enhanced’s minimum requirements. The specifications below are Rockstar’s published requirements, not a promise of a particular frame rate.
