Get It Takes Two for Windows through the official EA product page, which offers an EA app purchase route and links to Steam. Check the PC requirements below before installing. If you plan to play co-op, one player can own the full game while the other joins with Friend’s Pass; that feature does not allow PC players to play with people on other platforms.
Choose an official Windows download route
EA’s purchase page for It Takes Two links to the EA app Windows purchase and the Steam listing. These are digital game licenses, not a boxed Windows download. Availability and price can differ by region and change over time, so check the live store page for your location.

Check the published Windows requirements
EA’s product page lists the following PC specifications. They are EA’s published requirements for a game released March 26, 2021, not an independent compatibility test or a current guarantee. In particular, the page names Windows 8.1 and Windows 10; it does not establish compatibility with every later Windows version.

Play co-op with Friend’s Pass
EA’s Friend’s Pass guidance says a friend can play even without owning the full game. One player must own It Takes Two to host the full adventure. If neither player owns it, EA says the first chapter can be tried in local or online co-op.
- Have the full-game owner install the game on their platform.
- Have the other player download Friend’s Pass for that same platform family.
- Invite the friend through the game or platform’s supported invite flow, then play together.
Friend’s Pass supports cross-generation play, not cross-platform play. EA’s example is a PlayStation 5 player inviting someone on PlayStation 4; the feature does not let a player on PC invite someone on Xbox, Nintendo Switch, or PlayStation.

Steam-specific setup for online play
In its May 29, 2024 update, “Steam Friends and Deck Verified,” EA said the Steam version no longer needs the EA app launcher. The update also says an EA account remains required to connect to EA servers for online play, and that it must be linked to Steam.
For Steam invites without the EA app, install the new Steam version of Friend’s Pass rather than the older EA app version. The distinction matters: not needing the EA app launcher does not remove the EA account requirement for online play.
