How to download Roblox on Windows
Option 1: Install the new Microsoft Store app
Roblox now identifies its newer Windows application as Roblox – Windows. Roblox says it has a blue icon. The older Microsoft Store application is named only Roblox and uses a light-gray icon.
- Open the Microsoft Store from the Windows Start menu.
- Search for Roblox – Windows.
- Check the name and icon carefully, then select Get or Install.
- Open the app when installation finishes.
- Sign in to your existing Roblox account, or create an account.
- If the old Roblox app is also installed, play-test the new app first. Once you have confirmed that it works, uninstall the old app to avoid confusion.
Your Roblox progress, friends, Robux, and inventory are connected to your Roblox account rather than to the old Windows app. Signing in to the same account transfers that information to the new app. See Roblox’s Microsoft Store installation instructions for the current app details.
Option 2: Install Roblox Player through the website
- Open a current version of Microsoft Edge, Firefox, or Chrome.
- Go to Roblox.com and sign in, or create an account.
- Open any Roblox experience.
- Select the green Play button.
- When prompted, allow the Roblox Player installer to download and run.
- Complete the installation, then return to the experience and select Play again.
On future visits, selecting Play on an experience should launch the installed Roblox Player.

- Open Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.
- Visit Roblox.com and sign in.
- Open an experience and click Play.
- Follow the prompt to download and install Roblox Player.
- Return to the browser and click Play again to launch the experience.
Roblox currently lists macOS 10.13 High Sierra or later for the game client. Newly released or prerelease macOS versions may not be supported immediately. If Firefox asks which application should open a roblox-player link, select Roblox.app. Roblox’s computer requirements and installation guidance contain the current compatibility information.
How to download Roblox on iPhone or iPad
- Open the App Store.
- Search for Roblox.
- Confirm that the listing is the official Roblox app from Roblox Corporation.
- Tap Get and authenticate with your Apple account if requested.
- Open Roblox and sign in or create an account.
Roblox currently requires iOS 14 or later on iPhone and iPadOS 14 or later on iPad. Roblox lists devices including the iPhone 6s and later, iPhone SE, seventh-generation iPod touch, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4, fifth-generation iPad, and iPad Pro among its minimum supported Apple devices. Check the official mobile system requirements if the app does not appear or cannot be installed.

How to download Roblox on Android
- Open the Google Play Store.
- Search for Roblox.
- Verify that you have selected the official Roblox listing.
- Tap Install.
- Open the app and sign in or create an account.
Roblox currently requires Android 8.0 or later and support for at least OpenGL ES 3.0. Android hardware varies substantially, so meeting the Android version requirement does not guarantee good performance. An older or less capable device may show an unsupported-device message or run experiences poorly.
Roblox recommends Wi-Fi when mobile data is slow or unreliable and gives a minimum internet recommendation of approximately 4–8 Mb/s for a single-use household. See Roblox’s mobile requirements for current details.

- Open the Amazon Appstore.
- Search for the official Roblox app.
- Select Download or Get.
- Open Roblox and sign in.
Support depends on the Fire model and generation. Roblox lists the Fire 7 (9th generation), Fire HD 8 (8th generation), Fire HD 10 (9th generation), and Fire Max 11 (13th generation) as minimum supported devices. Newer or prerelease Fire devices may not be supported immediately, and availability can depend on the device or account region.
How to download Roblox on a Chromebook
Chromebooks need ChromeOS 53 or later and access to the Google Play Store. School- or work-managed Chromebooks may block Android apps even when the hardware supports them.
- Update ChromeOS.
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps, then Manage Google Play preferences.
- Enable the Google Play Store and accept its terms if ChromeOS offers that option.
- Open Google Play, search for Roblox, and select Install.
- Open Roblox and sign in.
If you cannot find Roblox, cannot enable Google Play, or receive an administrator restriction, the Chromebook may be incompatible or managed by a school or employer. Google explains Play Store availability in its Chromebook Android-app documentation.

How to download Roblox on Xbox
- Open the Xbox Store on the console.
- Search for Roblox.
- Select the official app and choose Get or Install.
- Launch Roblox after the download completes.
- Sign in with an existing Roblox account, or create and link an account to your Xbox profile.
Roblox describes the Xbox app as free. Its Xbox One support documentation identifies an Xbox One console, an Xbox Live Gold account, and an internet connection as requirements for the documented Xbox One experience; Microsoft’s current subscription and console policies can change, so check the requirements shown on your console as well.
Some Xbox experiences support cross-platform play with friends on PC, Mac, and mobile, but features and available experiences can vary by platform. Roblox provides additional information in its Xbox installation and play instructions and Xbox feature guide.
How to download Roblox on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5
Roblox is available on PS4 and PS5 in select countries, so the listing may not appear in every region.
- Open the PlayStation Store on the console or visit the store online.
- Search for Roblox.
- Select the official Roblox listing and choose Add to Library.
- Follow the on-screen installation instructions.
- Launch Roblox from Game Library.
- Sign in with your Roblox account. You can use the Quick Login option with a phone or computer when offered.
Roblox says the PlayStation version is rated T for Teen. Cross-platform play can be enabled or disabled in PlayStation settings, and ratings, availability, and features may depend on your country and platform. Consult Roblox’s PlayStation FAQ for the current regional details.
How to install Roblox on Meta Quest
Roblox supports Meta Quest as a VR hardware category and provides a dedicated VR setup section in its support center. Because the exact Quest storefront listing and installation screens can change, open the official Meta Quest storefront on your headset or its companion interface, search for Roblox, and install the official listing if it is available in your region and on your Quest model. Then follow Roblox’s current VR setup support instructions.

Do you need Roblox Player or Roblox Studio?
For playing experiences, you need Roblox Player—the game client installed through the Roblox website or the relevant platform store. You do not need Roblox Studio just to play.
Roblox Studio is the separate free application used to create, edit, and publish Roblox experiences. It is available on Windows and Mac. To install it, use the official Roblox Creator Hub Studio download, download the Windows .exe or Mac .dmg installer, run it, and sign in after Studio opens.
Roblox currently lists minimum Studio requirements of Windows 10 or macOS 10.14, 3 GB of RAM, and a 1600×900 display resolution. Recommended specifications include Windows 11 or macOS 14 or later and 8 GB of RAM. These are Studio requirements, not a reason to install Studio for ordinary gameplay.

- Windows: 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11, DirectX 10 or higher feature-level support, at least 1 GB of RAM, and approximately 300 MB of storage for installation.
- Mac: macOS 10.13 High Sierra or later.
- Linux: Linux is not supported as an official Roblox client platform.
- Internet: Roblox requires an internet connection; Roblox recommends approximately 4–8 Mb/s for a single-use household.
These requirements are subject to change. A device that meets the minimum specification may still struggle with demanding experiences, especially on older integrated graphics, low-memory phones, or heavily managed networks.
Roblox will not install: troubleshooting steps
- Restart the device. A restart can clear a pending update, locked installer, or temporary store problem.
- Retry from the official source. On Windows and Mac, use Roblox.com; on mobile and console devices, use the built-in official store.
- Check storage and system compatibility. Confirm the operating-system version, supported device model, available space, and internet connection.
- Update the operating system and store. An outdated OS or store component can prevent the current Roblox client from installing.
- Reinstall Roblox. Roblox says reinstalling can replace broken or deleted files. If that does not help, uninstall Roblox, restart the computer, and reinstall it.
- Check browser interference. Clear the browser cache or try a supported browser if clicking Play does not start the desktop installer.
- Review security software carefully. Firewalls, antivirus tools, and other third-party programs can block Roblox or its connection. If security software incorrectly identifies Roblox, add a narrowly targeted exception only if necessary and only through the software’s documented controls. Do not broadly disable antivirus or the firewall.

Is it safe to download Roblox from another website?
No. There is no need to use a third-party Roblox installer. Avoid files advertised as cracked Roblox versions, unofficial Android APKs, modified clients, “Robux generators,” or free-Robux downloads. They can contain malware, steal account credentials, or lead to account loss. Download only from Roblox.com or the official store for your device, and never enter your Roblox password into an unrelated website.
What to do after installing Roblox
- Sign in to the correct Roblox account before buying anything or changing settings.
- Use a unique password and enable available account-security features.
- Review parental controls and communication settings for a child’s account.
- Remember that Robux and account inventory belong to the account, not the device.
