As of October 13, 2026, the announced WARDOGS Season 2 reward rules give Lonestar a faction-specific cash and XP win bonus and cash and XP multipliers. Players on any faction can also earn cash through teamplay, and any team at least 40 points behind second place qualifies for a 20% vendor discount. Season 2 is scheduled to begin October 15; the official preview does not state Lonestar’s bonus amounts or multiplier triggers.

So, how do you earn Season 2 rewards on either WARDOGS team? Separate the announced Lonestar incentives from rewards available to any faction: contribute to the objective and your squad for documented cash actions, and understand the discount as conditional help for a team that reaches the stated score gap. The preview does not provide enough numbers to forecast which faction will earn more overall.

Which WARDOGS team gets the Season 2 cash and XP bonus?

Lonestar is the only faction named for Season 2-specific cash and XP incentives in Bulkhead’s October 9, 2026 Season 02 Preview. The announcement lists a cash and XP win bonus and cash and XP multipliers, and says the faction benefits are for Season 2 only. It describes the win bonus as: “Lonestar faction cash and XP win bonus, Season 2 only.”

The preview does not give a cash amount, XP amount, multiplier percentage, or the actions that trigger the multipliers. It therefore isn’t possible to calculate how much extra a Lonestar player will earn or to claim that a particular action receives a multiplier. The preview also does not promise that choosing Lonestar will yield more rewards overall in every match.

That distinction matters if you are asking, “Which WARDOGS team gives the Season 2 bonus?” The supported answer is Lonestar for the named faction-specific cash and XP incentives. It is not a published comparison of all possible earnings between factions. A win bonus is described, but its amount is unknown; the separate multipliers are also announced without a stated size or trigger. A player cannot use the preview alone to estimate a likely payout, determine whether the bonus applies to a particular action, or compare an expected Lonestar result with another team’s result.

Reward path Who can qualify What the announcement establishes
Season 2 faction incentives Lonestar Cash and XP win bonus, plus cash and XP multipliers. Exact values and triggers are not stated in the official preview.
Behind-in-points vendor discount Any faction that is at least 40 points behind second place 20% off at the vendor. The preview does not establish how the score gap is evaluated during a match.
Ordinary teamplay cash Players contributing to their team Cash rewards are listed for reviving squadmates, transporting friendlies to the Control Zone, and controlling the objective. Hot Zone play earns double cash, according to Team17’s overview.

These are distinct mechanics. Lonestar’s incentive is faction-specific; the discount and ordinary cash actions are not described as Lonestar-only. The other factions have no faction-specific cash or XP incentive named in the preview, but their players can still earn ordinary teamplay cash and may qualify for the discount.

In other words, the announced benefits form two different comparisons. Lonestar has an extra faction-specific path; the shared paths remain available to all teams. Nothing in the preview says that the general cash actions are disabled for non-Lonestar players, or that the discount is exclusive to one faction. Conversely, the general cash actions do not establish that non-Lonestar players receive the Season 2 cash or XP multipliers.

How does the 20% discount work?

Under the announced rule, a faction qualifies for a 20% vendor discount when it is at least 40 points behind the faction in second place. The eligibility wording applies to any team, so it is not a replacement for Lonestar’s bonus and does not require playing Lonestar.

The reference point is second place: this is not worded as “40 points behind the leader.” The qualifying condition is a gap of at least 40 points behind the team occupying second place. The announcement does not give examples of score situations, however, or explain how to handle ties or changing standings. Use the stated threshold as the condition, but do not infer extra eligibility rules beyond it.

The announcement does not explain whether the discount is checked continuously, at a particular point in a match, or only when using the vendor. Nor does it state how long the discount lasts or which vendor purchases it covers. Treat it as a conditional relief mechanic if your faction reaches the stated score gap, not as a predictable way to maximize rewards. The rule gives no reason to deliberately lose or stay behind: it does not establish that the discount is more valuable than winning or earning points.

For a player deciding what to do, the practical takeaway is simple: the discount is a stated perk for a team that is far behind by the specified measure, not a guaranteed reward for every non-winning team. Being behind by fewer than 40 points does not meet the announced threshold. Nor does the preview say that a faction automatically keeps the discount after its position changes, or that the discount can be banked for later. Those details need final rules or in-game vendor text.

How to earn cash on any team

Team17’s WARDOGS overview identifies several cash-rewarding actions that are useful regardless of faction. Focus on keeping teammates active and helping your side compete for the objective rather than assuming that an unannounced Lonestar multiplier applies to each action.

When thinking about “How do I earn cash and XP in WARDOGS?”, keep cash and XP separate. The overview supports the specific cash actions below, but the available descriptions do not provide an XP amount for each action or a general XP schedule. Lonestar’s announced XP benefits do not fill in those missing details because their triggers and amounts are also unstated.

  1. Revive squadmates. Team17 lists reviving squadmates as a cash-rewarding action. A revive also returns a teammate to the fight, giving your squad another player who can contest the objective. The sources do not provide the cash amount, any timing requirement, or a separate XP payout for a revive. Treat it as a documented general cash action, not as proof of a specific Season 2 multiplier.
  2. Transport friendlies to the Control Zone. Team17 lists transporting friendly players to the zone as a cash action. Coordinate with teammates so transport helps put players where the team needs them. The overview does not say how many passengers or trips are required, what vehicle is necessary, or whether the action pays a fixed amount. It establishes the action category, not a detailed transport-reward formula.
  3. Help control the objective. Objective control is another cash-rewarding action named in the overview. The match is decided by presence in the Control Zone, so objective work supports both the team’s score and this general cash path. The source does not specify whether the cash is paid for entering the zone, remaining there, or another aspect of control; avoid assuming an exact trigger.
  4. Take advantage of the Hot Zone. Team17 says Hot Zone play earns double cash. The overview does not specify the exact payout, duration, or how that cash interacts with Season 2’s Lonestar multipliers. It does not say that double cash means double XP. It is a cash detail, and the only confirmed multiplier-like figure in the general overview is the double-cash description for Hot Zone play.

The available official descriptions do not state XP awarded for each of these actions. They also do not establish that reviving, transporting, objective control, or Hot Zone participation triggers Lonestar’s Season 2 multiplier. The safe distinction is that these are documented general cash mechanics, while the multiplier’s trigger remains unspecified.

A useful approach is to choose actions for their team value first, then regard documented cash as an additional result. If a squadmate needs a revive, helping them can restore a teammate who may return to the fight. If friendly players need to reach the zone, transport supports that objective. If the team needs more presence in the zone, playing the objective aligns with the match’s scoring system and with a cash action named by Team17. These connections make the actions useful, but they do not promise a set reward amount or guarantee a win.

Why objective play matters to rewards

WARDOGS’ three-team match revolves around a randomized 2×2 km Control Zone. Team17 says the faction with the most players in the zone earns points, and the first faction to 100 points wins. This gives a practical priority: support your team’s presence in the zone, where it can advance the match objective as well as align with the listed cash actions.

The zone size and win condition help explain why revives and transport are relevant to teamplay rather than isolated reward tricks. Players need to contest a large randomized area as a team, and the count of players in the zone determines which faction earns points. Helping squadmates get back into the fight or transporting friendlies to the zone can support presence there. Team17 also explicitly lists objective control as cash-rewarding. The sources do not give a detailed tactical route or a formula for how much each extra player changes the score, so the useful guidance stays at the level of contributing to the objective.

A revive or transport can support that effort by helping teammates return to or reach the zone. Controlling the objective is directly named as a cash action. These facts make team support a sound way to contribute, but they do not guarantee a specific payment, a win, or a Season 2 multiplier. No source supplied a per-action payout or an XP schedule.

In a three-team match, the same objective focus also keeps the reward question in perspective: a faction-specific bonus is not a substitute for the match itself. The announced Lonestar win bonus is expressly tied to winning, while points and zone presence are how the official overview describes the contest. The sources do not establish a guaranteed outcome from any single action. Reviving, transporting and contesting are documented ways to contribute, not a promise that a team will reach 100 points first.

Choosing Lonestar or another faction

If you are choosing a faction specifically for the announced Season 2 reward rules, Lonestar is the only one with a named faction-specific cash and XP advantage. That advantage is not quantified, so there is no reliable way to compare expected earnings with the other factions or determine whether the bonus outweighs match results and other rewards.

Choosing another faction does not remove the shared reward paths. Players on any team can pursue the documented teamplay cash actions, and any faction that meets the 40-point deficit condition can receive the vendor discount. In practical terms:

  • Pick Lonestar if you want access to the announced faction-specific cash and XP win bonus and multipliers, while recognizing that the details are undisclosed.
  • Pick another team without assuming you lose all reward opportunities: general cash actions and the losing-team discount are described as shared mechanics.
  • Play for the objective rather than choosing a faction or taking actions based on a guessed payout. The official announcement does not provide enough figures to forecast net earnings.

There are two sensible ways to read the choice. If faction-specific Season 2 incentives are your priority, the preview points to Lonestar. If you prefer another team, the preview still supports the normal cash routes and the potential behind-in-points discount. But there is no evidence here for a numerical recommendation such as “Lonestar pays more per match,” “the discount makes another team more profitable,” or “one choice is best for every player.” Those comparisons would require exact payouts, multiplier conditions, and reliable information about match outcomes.

Bulkhead frames the system as an intentional balance measure, stating, “WARDOGS isn’t supposed to be perfectly balanced at all times.” That explains the context for a faction-specific incentive, but it does not quantify the effect on match balance or individual rewards. The quotation is a statement about the design approach, not a numerical promise about what a Lonestar player will earn or how often another team will receive the discount.

Should you switch teams to chase the bonus?

Do not treat team switching as a dependable reward strategy. An October 9, 2026 GamesRadar+ report described an announced 15-minute restriction on switching after one team moves more than 10 points ahead, along with map and spawn-vehicle restrictions for players who switch or join a match in progress.

This is secondary reporting about announced restrictions, not a full rule set verified in the official preview. The preview itself does not explain how the 15-minute restriction is applied, which maps or spawn vehicles are affected, or whether those rules change a player’s eligibility for any bonus. Do not assume switching is available whenever you want, that joining a match in progress is identical to switching, or that switching will preserve a particular reward path.

Those restrictions were reported before the scheduled Season 2 launch, and the official preview cited here does not provide their full rules. Confirm the final behavior in official patch notes or the live game before relying on it. Even if switching is available, the sources do not establish that switching will preserve eligibility for a bonus or improve a player’s total rewards.

Most importantly, the team-switch report does not turn switching into a reliable way to collect a win bonus or a vendor discount. The official materials reviewed do not state that a player can switch to a faction and carry prior progress or eligibility with them. They also do not offer a comparison showing that switching after a score gap is more rewarding than staying with a team and contributing. Until official final rules establish otherwise, make faction decisions without counting on a last-minute switch as a reward exploit.

When Season 2 starts—and what is still unknown

Bulkhead scheduled Season 2 for October 15, 2026. As of October 13, that date was still in the future, so these are announced rules rather than firsthand results from a live season. The WARDOGS Steam listing continued to surface the October 9 preview and scheduled launch rather than full reward patch notes.

The official preview establishes the existence and broad scope of the incentives, but not their detailed implementation. Before making decisions based on exact payouts, check current official patch notes or the in-game reward text for:

  • Lonestar’s cash and XP win-bonus amounts.
  • The size of the cash and XP multipliers and which actions they apply to.
  • Whether any other reward conditions or limits apply.
  • How the 40-point deficit is checked, how long the vendor discount lasts, and which purchases qualify.

Also look for whether the final rules clarify how the discount relates to a changing match score and whether any team-switch restrictions affect access to these benefits. The researched official preview does not answer those questions, and the GamesRadar+ account of switching rules should be checked against the shipped version rather than treated as confirmed current behavior.

Until those details are published, the dependable approach is to treat Lonestar’s bonus as an unquantified additional incentive, earn ordinary cash through the documented teamplay actions, and play for Control Zone points. The reliable facts are limited but useful: Lonestar has named Season 2 cash and XP benefits; the shared cash actions include reviving, transporting friendlies and objective control; Hot Zone play earns double cash; and any faction reaching the 40-point-behind-second-place condition is announced to receive 20% off at the vendor.

There is no supported physical product that changes eligibility for these in-game rewards. The available evidence is about digital match and vendor mechanics, not a boxed edition, guide, faction item or peripheral that earns cash or XP. Buying an edition or accessory should not be presented as a way to improve Season 2 reward eligibility.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which WARDOGS team gets the Season 2 cash and XP bonus?

The October 9 Bulkhead preview names Lonestar for a Season 2-only cash and XP win bonus and cash and XP multipliers. It does not give the amounts, multiplier size or triggers.

Can players on other teams earn cash in Season 2?

Yes. Team17 lists reviving squadmates, transporting friendlies to the Control Zone and controlling the objective as cash-rewarding actions. Hot Zone play earns double cash. These are general cash mechanics, not stated Lonestar-only rewards.

Does the losing team get a vendor discount?

The announced rule gives a 20% vendor discount to any faction at least 40 points behind second place. The preview does not explain when the score gap is checked, how long the discount lasts or which purchases qualify.

Does Hot Zone play give double XP too?

The Team17 overview says Hot Zone play earns double cash. The reviewed sources do not say that this means double XP.

How much extra cash or XP does Lonestar earn?

The official preview does not publish exact cash or XP amounts, multiplier percentages, or the actions that trigger the multipliers. Check final official patch notes or current in-game reward text for those details.

Should I switch teams to get the Season 2 bonus?

Do not rely on switching as a reward strategy. GamesRadar+ reported a 15-minute switching restriction after one faction moves more than 10 points ahead, plus map and spawn-vehicle restrictions for switchers or players joining in progress. Confirm those reported rules against final official notes or the live game.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Lonestar is the only faction with announced Season 2-specific cash and XP win incentives, but the preview gives no exact values or triggers. Any team can pursue the documented teamplay cash actions, and any faction at least 40 points behind second place is announced to qualify for a 20% vendor discount. Contribute to the Control Zone, use current official reward text for final details, and do not assume an unannounced multiplier or team-switch advantage.
