1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesTo edit video in the cloud, first decide whether you want to edit in a browser or use a desktop editor whose project and review workflow is cloud-connected. A browser editor lets you work in a web app; cloud collaboration in Premiere or DaVinci Resolve still uses desktop editing software and does not necessarily put all your original footage in the cloud.
What “editing video in the cloud” can mean
The phrase covers two different setups. In a browser-first workflow, you edit through a web application rather than installing a desktop nonlinear editor. Adobe describes Firefly Video Editor as a browser-based multitrack editor for combining generated clips, music, and uploaded footage, with timeline- or text-based editing and export. Adobe’s April 15, 2026 announcement also describes audio tools and Adobe Stock integration. Those descriptions do not establish feature parity with a full desktop editor.
In a cloud-connected desktop workflow, the editing application remains on your computer. Cloud services help collaborators share a project, coordinate changes, review cuts, or access project libraries. Premiere Team Projects and DaVinci Resolve with Blackmagic Cloud are examples. A shared project does not automatically mean the original video files are hosted remotely or stream to every collaborator’s computer.
Choose the workflow that fits the job
| Workflow | Good fit | What to plan for |
|---|---|---|
| Browser editor | Lightweight editing without installing a desktop editor; work involving uploaded clips, generated media, and a web timeline. | Check that the editor has the timeline, media, audio, and export capabilities your project needs. Adobe describes Firefly Video Editor as lightweight, not as a replacement with every feature of a full desktop editor. |
| Premiere Team Projects | Small or distributed teams working in Premiere on a shared project. | Inviting collaborators, sequence locking, publishing changes, offline capability, local autosave, and published project history are part of Adobe’s documented workflow. Decide how to coordinate edits and where source media will live. |
| Premiere Productions | Larger teams dividing work across multiple project files for the same production. | Adobe positions Productions for larger teams; bin locking helps reduce conflicting edits. Agree on project and bin ownership before parallel work begins. |
| DaVinci Resolve with Blackmagic Cloud | Resolve teams sharing a cloud project library and collaborating on timelines, media, and review. | Plan media synchronization, storage, proxy-to-original links, and how collaborators will review and accept changes. |
Before choosing, compare the editor your team already knows, team size, locking or merge behavior, source-footage and proxy storage, upload and download capacity, review tools, access controls, and recurring software, storage, or licensing costs. The documented feature descriptions do not provide a complete current price comparison, so check current vendor pricing and regional availability directly.

A practical cloud video-editing workflow
1. Decide where editing happens
If you primarily need to trim and arrange clips without installing a desktop editor, choose a browser editor and confirm its export and media limits for your project. If you need a shared professional project, choose a desktop workflow such as Premiere Team Projects, Premiere Productions, or Resolve with Blackmagic Cloud instead.
2. Create the project and grant access
In Premiere, use Team Projects for a shared project and invite collaborators. Use sequence locking and published changes to coordinate work. For a larger production spread across project files, consider Productions and bin locking. In Resolve, create a cloud project library and share the project with collaborators’ Blackmagic Cloud IDs. Check access settings and make sure each person has the right project and media permissions before editing.

3. Plan media separately from project sharing
Determine where originals will be stored and how each editor will access them. Depending on the workflow, media may be on local drives, network storage, or cloud storage; a cloud project does not by itself ensure that every original clip is remotely available. Adobe documents uploading bins from local source files. Blackmagic documents storage choices and media synchronization.
If large or unwieldy source files make editing difficult, consider proxies. Blackmagic’s Proxy Generator can create H.264, H.265, or ProRes proxy files and link them to originals. Make sure the team understands where proxies and originals reside and how the project reconnects to full-resolution media for finishing. An external SSD can be useful for active media or proxies, but it is an optional local-storage accessory, not a cloud editing service or a requirement for every setup.

4. Divide work to avoid conflicts
Agree on who owns each sequence, bin, or timeline before several people make changes. Use the editor’s locking and publishing workflow rather than assuming simultaneous edits will merge cleanly. In Premiere Team Projects, Adobe documents sequence locking and publishing changes; for Productions, bin locking helps coordinate work across project files. In Resolve, collaborators can work on the same timeline and review or accept changes.
5. Review cuts and resolve feedback
Use review tools deliberately. Adobe describes timestamped comments and annotations, the ability to import comments into a Premiere timeline as markers, and review versions. Blackmagic Presentations supports reviewing a timeline or clip through a secure web link; its documentation says markers and comments relink bidirectionally with Resolve. Set expectations about which review version is current and who applies feedback to the edit.

6. Keep project history distinct from delivery files
A project version is the editable work—timeline, settings, and references needed to continue editing. An exported video is a delivery copy for viewing or distribution. Premiere Team Projects records published project history, while Frame.io organizes review versions. Keep the project and the media it depends on if you may need to revise the edit later; do not treat an exported file as a substitute for the editable project.

- A collaborator opens the project but cannot find footage: Project sharing and source-media access are separate. Confirm where the originals are stored, whether the media was synchronized or uploaded as needed, and that the collaborator can access that location.
- Playback is difficult with large originals: Consider generating proxies, linking them to the originals, and confirming the proxy workflow with the team before editing. Resolve’s Proxy Generator supports H.264, H.265, and ProRes proxy creation.
- Two people make conflicting changes: Assign sequence, bin, or timeline ownership and use the available locking and publish/review process. For Premiere, Team Projects uses sequence locking and published changes; Productions uses bin locking.
- Feedback is detached from the cut it refers to: Identify the review version and use timestamped comments or markers where supported. Keep review versions organized so editors know which notes apply to the current cut.
- A project can be reopened, but the final video is missing—or vice versa: Preserve both the editable project and its required media, and export a separate delivery file. Project history and review versions serve different purposes from a finished video export.
Or let it run in the cloud
Cloud editing helps you make and collaborate on a video; it is different from keeping an edited video continuously live on YouTube. If your finished recording should loop as a 24/7 YouTube stream, StreamNeo is a separate cloud service for that job: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It does not edit footage or stream from a camera.
