To enable DLSS 4 overrides in Oblivion Remastered on PC, first enable DLSS in the game, close the game, then apply the override from its profile in NVIDIA App. Open Graphics > Program Settings, select The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, find DLSS Override – Model Presets, choose the latest Super Resolution model available in your installation, click Apply, and relaunch the game.
The same NVIDIA App area can also expose Frame Generation overrides. Those are separate from the Super Resolution model override: RTX 40 Series GPUs support regular DLSS Frame Generation, while RTX 50 Series GPUs can use the DLSS Multi Frame Generation options supported by the game, driver, and NVIDIA App version.
What the DLSS 4 override changes
DLSS Super Resolution reconstructs the final image from a lower internal render resolution. The NVIDIA App override changes the Super Resolution model used when Oblivion Remastered’s in-game DLSS option is active. It does not enable DLSS by itself, and it does not automatically turn on Frame Generation.

Frame Generation is a separate feature that creates additional displayed frames between conventionally rendered frames. It can increase the reported frame rate, but it does not provide the same input-latency improvement as rendering those frames normally. If you use Frame Generation, enable NVIDIA Reflex in the game when available; Bethesda lists Reflex alongside the DLSS controls.
Before you begin
- Use the PC version of Oblivion Remastered with a supported GeForce RTX GPU.
- Install the current NVIDIA App and a current Game Ready Driver. NVIDIA’s original DLSS 4 announcement listed Game Ready Driver 572.16 or later and NVIDIA App 11.0.2.312 or later; those were historical minimums for the original rollout, not a guarantee that they are the current minimums for every later App release.
- Update the game before troubleshooting missing graphics options.
- Close Oblivion Remastered before applying an NVIDIA App override.
DLSS availability can depend on the GPU, display, platform, game build, and driver. The exact wording in NVIDIA App can also change. NVIDIA’s earlier DLSS 4 documentation referred to the current Super Resolution choice as Latest and identified Transformer Preset K as the then-current model. Later DLSS 4.5 documentation uses updated terminology in some workflows, so select the current or latest model option shown by your installed App rather than relying on an old screenshot.
How to apply the DLSS Super Resolution override
- Enable DLSS in Oblivion Remastered. Launch the game and open the PC graphics settings. In the advanced graphics options, set Upscaling Technique > DLSS. Select the desired DLSS – Mode, such as the quality/performance choice appropriate for your resolution and GPU.
- Enable Frame Generation separately, if wanted. If your GPU and configuration support it, turn on DLSS – Frame Generation. Leave it off if you only want to test the Super Resolution model override.
- Exit completely to the desktop. Do not leave the game running while changing the driver-side profile. NVIDIA’s override workflow expects the application to be closed.
- Open NVIDIA App. Go to Graphics, then open Program Settings.
- Select the game profile. Choose The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. If it is not listed, use the program-list refresh control. If necessary, add the game’s actual executable through the program-settings interface.
- Find the model override. Locate DLSS Override – Model Presets. Choose the current recommended/latest Super Resolution model exposed by your installed NVIDIA App.
- Apply the change. Click Apply and wait for NVIDIA App to confirm the profile update.
- Relaunch the game. Start Oblivion Remastered and confirm that Upscaling Technique still shows DLSS. The override only affects DLSS when DLSS is selected in the game.
How to enable Frame Generation or Multi Frame Generation
Do not confuse the model-presets override with the Frame Generation override. You need to enable the relevant in-game control first, then configure the driver-side option if your hardware supports it.
RTX 40 Series: regular DLSS Frame Generation
- In Oblivion Remastered, set Upscaling Technique > DLSS.
- Enable DLSS – Frame Generation.
- Exit the game.
- Open the Oblivion Remastered profile in NVIDIA App under Graphics > Program Settings.
- Choose the available Frame Generation override or model-upgrade option, then click Apply.
- Relaunch the game and test for visual stability, latency, and frame pacing.
RTX 40 Series cards can use ordinary DLSS Frame Generation and its supported model upgrade. They do not gain RTX 50-only Multi Frame Generation merely by applying the Super Resolution override.
RTX 50 Series: Multi Frame Generation
RTX 50 Series hardware is the GPU class associated with NVIDIA’s DLSS Multi Frame Generation override in supported games. With Frame Generation enabled in Oblivion Remastered, open the game’s NVIDIA App profile and select the available Multi Frame Generation or Frame Generation override.

In NVIDIA’s original DLSS 4 interface, the choices included 3X and 4X. NVIDIA associated 3X with targets up to approximately 180 FPS and 4X with 240 FPS or higher. Those are guidance targets, not performance guarantees: the result depends on the base frame rate, resolution, CPU, GPU settings, display refresh rate, and game build.
Later DLSS 4.5 workflows may instead show DLSS Override – Frame Generation Mode with choices such as:
- Dynamic
- Max refresh rate
- Custom, with a target set by the user where supported
The exact controls depend on the NVIDIA App release and driver branch. Use the labels available in your installation. A sufficiently recent NVIDIA App beta and Game Ready Driver may be required for some of the later DLSS 4.5 controls.

The Transformer-model upgrade is broader than Multi Frame Generation: NVIDIA describes it as applying to supported RTX implementations of Super Resolution, Ray Reconstruction, and DLAA. That should not be interpreted as support for Multi Frame Generation on every RTX card.

Work through these fixes in order before installing a mod or replacing a game file:

- Update Oblivion Remastered. Bethesda specifically recommends updating the game when DLSS or other upscaling options are missing.
- Restart the game and reselect the graphics settings. After updating, open the graphics menu again and reselect the upscaling option rather than assuming the old setting was retained correctly.
- Check the GPU. Confirm that Windows and the game are using a supported NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPU, not an integrated graphics processor or an unsupported adapter.
- Confirm the game executable. In NVIDIA App, make sure the profile points to the actual Oblivion Remastered executable. Refresh the program list, or add the executable manually if the profile is missing.
- Enable DLSS in the game first. The driver-side model override has no visible effect if Upscaling Technique is set to another upscaler or DLSS is unavailable in the game’s own menu.
- Close the game before applying the profile. Reapply the setting with Oblivion Remastered fully exited, then relaunch.
- Return to the native setting while testing. If the game crashes, shows artifacts, or behaves unexpectedly, revert the override before making another change.
How to revert the DLSS override
- Exit Oblivion Remastered.
- Open NVIDIA App and go to Graphics > Program Settings.
- Select the Oblivion Remastered profile.
- Return to the relevant DLSS override field.
- Select Use the 3D application setting.
- Click Apply and relaunch the game.
This returns control to Oblivion Remastered’s own graphics configuration and is the best starting point when diagnosing crashes, missing options, image artifacts, or unexpected frame pacing.
Should you replace the DLSS DLL or install a mod?
Usually, no. The NVIDIA App override is the preferable first method because it is reversible and does not require replacing files in the game installation.
Community instructions describe file-based alternatives involving a backup and replacement of nvngx_dlss.dll, additional files in the game’s plugin directory, or a UE4SS-based mod. Some of these methods also target related features such as Ray Reconstruction. They are unofficial, version-sensitive alternatives rather than the standard DLSS 4 procedure.
If you choose to experiment with one:
- Back up every original file before changing it.
- Change one variable at a time so you can identify the cause of a problem.
- Remove the mod or restore the original DLL before diagnosing a crash or missing graphics option.
- Expect a game patch to make a file replacement incompatible.
- Do not assume a particular preset will eliminate ghosting or deliver a fixed FPS increase.
Performance and image-quality expectations
Changing the Super Resolution model can alter detail reconstruction, motion stability, and artifacting, but there is no universal best result. Compare the same scene at the same resolution and graphics settings, and check both still images and camera movement. Watch for ghosting, shimmering, foliage instability, and UI artifacts rather than judging only the FPS counter.
Frame Generation and Multi Frame Generation can produce a much higher displayed-frame number, but the game still needs a sufficiently strong conventional base frame rate. Generated frames do not reduce input latency in direct proportion to the displayed FPS. For a smoother experience, consider frame pacing, Reflex, the monitor’s refresh rate, and the game’s responsiveness together.

NVIDIA’s published Oblivion Remastered performance multipliers are vendor test results under specified hardware and settings. Treat them as examples, not as a promise for every RTX system. Resolution, CPU limitations, driver version, game version, graphics options, and the chosen DLSS mode all affect the result.

You do not need to buy an RTX 50 card merely to use DLSS Super Resolution or, on supported hardware, regular Frame Generation. A 240Hz-or-faster monitor is also optional: it can make very high generated frame rates more visible, but it does not enable DLSS or any NVIDIA App override.
