In GeForce Experience, open Settings with the cog and enable Enable Experimental Features. NVIDIA’s guides place the checkbox either in the About box or under Settings > General, depending on the guide and app version. If you use NVIDIA app instead, its documented beta route is Settings > About > beta and experimental feature Early Access.
Enable experimental features in GeForce Experience
-
Open GeForce Experience and click the cog icon to open Settings.
-
Look for Enable Experimental Features. NVIDIA’s setup guide places it in the About box; another NVIDIA guide gives the path Settings > General. Menu placement can vary by version, so if it is not in About, check General for the exact label. NVIDIA’s GeForce Experience setup guide and NVIDIA’s Reflex Analyzer guide document these locations.
-
Turn on the checkbox. If GeForce Experience installs an update, let it finish and restart the app if prompted.

Enable beta Early Access in NVIDIA app
If you have NVIDIA app rather than GeForce Experience, use its beta setting instead: open Settings > About, then opt into beta and experimental feature Early Access. This is the route NVIDIA documents for the NVIDIA app beta; it should not be assumed to behave identically to GeForce Experience’s checkbox. NVIDIA’s August 19, 2025 beta instructions describe the setting.
What enabling the setting changes
The setting provides access to beta functionality; it does not guarantee that every experimental feature will appear or work on every system. Availability can depend on the app build, driver, GPU, or game. NVIDIA’s GeForce Experience 3.20.5 Beta notes, for example, tied specific overlay metrics and GPU tuning features to that release, with GPU tuning limited then to RTX 20- and RTX 30-series desktop cards. Those release notes are historical examples, not current compatibility guidance. Read the 3.20.5 Beta notes.

Some features need a separate setup
Opting into experimental access and enabling an individual feature are distinct steps. NVIDIA’s Image Scaling instructions, for example, say to return to Settings after the app restarts, switch on Image Scaling and the In-Game Overlay, and then configure or optimize the feature for games. Those additional steps apply to that feature, not automatically to every beta option. NVIDIA’s Image Scaling guide covers its setup.

NVIDIA currently recommends that remaining GeForce Experience users install NVIDIA app. Some users cannot update automatically and must install the app from NVIDIA’s website or through a Game Ready Driver. NVIDIA says it plans to turn off critical GeForce Experience web servers “in the near future,” but its notice does not give an exact shutdown date. Check NVIDIA’s upgrade notice for current migration instructions.
