Forza Motorsport’s optional ray-traced global illumination (RTGI) setting arrived on PC with Update 15, which began rolling out on December 9, 2024. To enable it, open the game’s Graphics menu, set Raytracing Quality to Full Reflections + RTGI, then set RTGI Quality to High. It is off by default.
What RTGI changes in Forza Motorsport
Turn 10 Studios says RTGI uses ray-tracing hardware to calculate more accurate indirect lighting and occlusion across the car and track in real time. In practical terms, it is an optional lighting feature intended to make the way light affects those surfaces more detailed. The developer describes the feature as improving visual fidelity and realism; the announcement does not quantify the visual difference.
RTGI is a PC graphics option, not a general lighting overhaul for every platform. Update 15 also rolled out for Xbox Series X|S, but the announcement identifies RTGI specifically as a PC setting.
How to turn on RTGI
- Open Forza Motorsport’s Graphics menu.
- Set Raytracing Quality to Full Reflections + RTGI.
- Set RTGI Quality to High.
Those are the settings specified by Turn 10. The feature is not enabled by default. When switched on, it applies to gameplay, cinematics, Homespace, and Photo Mode.

PC requirements and performance information
Turn 10 describes RTGI as an option for high-end PCs and says it uses ray-tracing hardware. Its Update 15 announcement does not name a minimum GPU, GPU generation, VRAM requirement, resolution, or frame-rate target. It also publishes no benchmark or measured performance cost, so there is no source-backed way to promise a particular frame rate or say that every ray-tracing-capable GPU will run it well.
