Sony says it is on by default on supported consoles. To find out whether a particular game supports Enhanced PSSR, check Sony’s supported-title list and the game’s update notes. The setting alone does not confirm that PSSR is active in a specific play session.
Enable the PS5 Pro PSSR setting
- On a PS5 Pro, open Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output.
- Find Enhance PSSR Image Quality and check whether it is enabled. Sony says the setting is on by default. Its support guide lists it for consoles in the CFI-7000 model group; it is not a general PS5 setting. See Sony’s PS5 resolution and video-output settings guide.
- If the option is missing, confirm that your console is a PS5 Pro in the CFI-7000 model group and that its system software is current. Sony documents the option for that model group.
The toggle applies to compatible games; it does not add PSSR to every game. Sony describes PSSR as an AI upscaling library that processes game imagery as it upscales it. The March 16, 2026 PlayStation.Blog announcement explains the upgraded PSSR rollout and says the system setting applies to PS5 Pro games that already support PSSR.
Check whether a game supports Enhanced PSSR
Look for the game on Sony’s PS5 Pro page, under Supported titles with Enhanced PSSR. The US page checked October 3, 2026, lists:

This is a dated snapshot, not a permanent or exhaustive list. Sony’s page can change, so check it again for the current lineup. Also read the game’s latest update notes: support and rendering changes can be title-specific.

Can you verify that PSSR is active in a particular session?
Sony’s published materials describe the system setting and identify supported games, but do not document a per-game on-screen indicator that confirms PSSR is active at a given moment. An enabled system option or a sharper-looking image is not proof of session-level use. The reliable check from Sony’s documentation is whether the title is listed as supporting Enhanced PSSR, alongside any relevant game update information.
What to expect from the setting
Sony cautions that results vary by title. The March 2026 announcement presents clearer, more stable images and performance-related benefits as aims and includes developer comments about particular games; those comments are not independent benchmarks or a guarantee that every player will see the same result. If a supported game looks worse or produces unexpected visual effects with the option enabled, Sony says you can turn the setting off.

Do not confuse PSSR with PS4 image enhancement
PS5 Pro has a separate Enhance Image Quality for PS4 Games option. That setting is distinct from Enhance PSSR Image Quality; enabling PS4 image enhancement does not enable PSSR.
