Use H.264 video, AAC audio, CBR, RTMPS, and a two-second keyframe interval. At 720p/30 fps, YouTube’s H.264 guidance lists 3 Mbps minimum and 8 Mbps recommended video bitrate; at 1080p/30 fps, it lists 5 Mbps minimum and 14 Mbps recommended. Choose a rate your internet connection can sustain, and plan around YouTube’s 12-hour archive and DVR limitations if you need replays. YouTube’s encoder settings guidance applies to the content’s technical format; Bengali language does not change the codec or bitrate.
Choose resolution and bitrate for the source and connection
For a static devotional image, lyrics, or a simple visual loop, begin at the source video’s native frame rate. YouTube supports up to 60 fps, but its guidance does not say a mostly still devotional video benefits from 60 fps. Prefer the lowest resolution that still looks good to viewers and that your sustained upload connection can carry reliably. The bitrates below are YouTube’s H.264 ingestion settings, not a guarantee that a particular connection will manage them.
| Format | H.264 minimum video bitrate | H.264 recommended video bitrate | When it may fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 3 Mbps | 8 Mbps | A lower-demand option when upload capacity is limited. |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps | 14 Mbps | Use when the source detail merits it and upload capacity is stable. |
YouTube specifies constant bitrate (CBR). Test your upload capacity under the conditions you expect during the broadcast, then select a reliable setting rather than relying on a brief best-case speed result.
Audio and general video settings
- For stereo audio, YouTube recommends 128 Kbps at a 44.1 kHz sample rate. AAC or MP3 is supported, depending on the ingestion method.
- Use square pixels, progressive scan, two B-frames, one reference frame, and CABAC as YouTube’s general recommendations.
- For SDR, use Rec. 709 color space and 8-bit depth.
- YouTube recommends 48 kHz and 384 Kbps for 5.1 audio. Its guidance supports 5.1 over RTMP/RTMPS only with AAC audio.
HDR has separate codec and bit-depth guidance; it is generally unnecessary for a simple devotional loop. Consult YouTube’s current live encoder settings page if you intend to send HDR.

Set up the encoder and YouTube stream
You can send the program using software on a computer, a standalone hardware encoder, or a hosted cloud service. YouTube recommends RTMPS, the secure extension of RTMP. Its setup guide describes copying the stream URL and stream key from Live Control Room into the encoder. The key identifies the feed and allows YouTube to accept it, so handle it like a password.
- Prepare the program. Check that the video and devotional audio are the exact assets you intend to broadcast, and set the output resolution and frame rate to match your chosen format.
- Open YouTube Live Control Room. Create or select the live stream and locate its stream URL and stream key. Follow YouTube’s live streaming setup guide for the current interface.
- Configure the encoder. Choose RTMPS where available, enter the YouTube stream URL and key, and set H.264 video, AAC or MP3 audio, CBR, and a two-second keyframe interval. Do not exceed four seconds for the keyframe interval.
- Match bitrate to format. Use the relevant H.264 minimum and recommended values above as guardrails, then test stability on the actual connection.
- Start a private or otherwise suitable test first. Check the Live Control Room preview and watch page before relying on the stream for a long session.
YouTube describes professional-grade hardware encoders as a recommendation for higher-production events, not a requirement for every creator. Software encoding is also a documented route. A cloud-based option may suit prerecorded 24/7 programming when you do not want a local computer to run continuously; YouTube lists Gyre as an example in its setup guidance, without making that listing an endorsement.

Plan continuous operation, archives, and DVR separately
YouTube’s archive guidance says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. If a live stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all. Separately, YouTube says DVR—viewers’ ability to pause or rewind during the live broadcast—may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. These are different risks: an archive is the recording after the stream ends; DVR applies while viewers are watching live.
If a replay matters, plan sessions shorter than 12 hours and keep a local recording as a backup. YouTube recommends local recording because an archive is not assured beyond that duration. Confirm that the local file is actually growing during the broadcast, and ensure there is enough storage for the full session.

Check the complete stream before leaving it unattended
Test a representative segment with the same music, voice, visuals, and movement planned for the final program. A stream can appear connected while still having an inaudible soundtrack, frozen picture, or local recording that stopped. YouTube advises testing the encoder and previewing the signal; for a long broadcast, monitor the full chain rather than only the encoder’s status indicator.
- Inspect the Live Control Room preview for picture, motion, and audio sync.
- Open the watch page as a viewer and verify the stream is reachable.
- Listen for clipping, silence, unwanted gaps, and an audio level that is too low.
- Confirm the local recording is growing, if you are recording a backup.
- Check that the upload connection remains stable at the chosen resolution and bitrate.
- Keep a way to receive alerts or check the stream periodically if the broadcast is unattended.
Clear music and recording rights before going live
Religious subject matter does not itself make a song or recording free to rebroadcast. Check the rights for both the specific recording and the composition, including the territories and uses covered by the permission. YouTube’s live-stream terms require the provider to hold necessary rights, including music rights. Its copyright guidance for live streams says live broadcasts are scanned for third-party matches; unresolved matches can interrupt or terminate a stream.

Even if you have a licence, YouTube says a rightsholder may need to add your channel to a Content ID allowlist for the live stream to avoid interruption. Resolve that with the rightsholder before the broadcast rather than assuming a licence alone will prevent an automated match from affecting the stream.

| Symptom | Likely issue | What to check or change |
|---|---|---|
| Buffering, dropped frames, or unstable playback | The upload connection cannot reliably sustain the selected bitrate, or the encoder is overloaded. | Test the connection and encoder under realistic conditions. Reduce resolution or bitrate to a stable setting, then test again. |
| YouTube does not receive the feed | The stream URL or key may be wrong, or the selected protocol may not match the encoder setup. | Recheck the URL and key in Live Control Room and the encoder. Treat the key as a credential and replace it if exposed. |
| Picture appears but audio is silent or poor | Audio input, codec, sample rate, bitrate, or channel configuration may be incorrect. | Verify the encoder’s selected audio source and supported AAC or MP3 settings; listen to the preview before the long session. |
| Archive is missing after a very long stream | YouTube may not capture a stream exceeding 12 hours. | Use shorter sessions when replay matters and retain a local recording. |
| Stream is interrupted after a music match | Third-party content was detected, or the channel was not allowlisted by the rightsholder. | Use content you have rights to broadcast and arrange any needed Content ID allowlisting before going live. |
