To upload a large video over JioFiber, first check that it meets YouTube’s size, duration and account requirements. Then estimate the time from the file size and your measured upload speed, reduce competing network use, and let the upload finish. If it stops, YouTube says you can resume by selecting the same file at youtube.com/upload within 24 hours. Add the video to a playlist after upload using the current playlist controls in YouTube Studio.
Check that YouTube will accept the video
YouTube’s current stated maximum is 256 GB or 12 hours, whichever is less. Videos longer than 15 minutes require a verified account. For desktop uploads of files larger than 20 GB, YouTube advises using an up-to-date browser. These are YouTube limits, not JioFiber limits. See YouTube’s upload limits.
- If the video is over 15 minutes, verify the account before starting.
- Check both its file size and duration; it must stay within both maximums.
- If uploading on desktop and the file exceeds 20 GB, update the browser first.
Estimate how long the upload may take
Use the file size and sustained upload speed, not the JioFiber plan’s advertised download speed. A theoretical minimum can be estimated as file size in bits divided by upload speed in bits per second. For example, a 10 GB file at a steady 10 Mbps would take about 2.2 hours in ideal conditions. Actual uploads usually take longer because of overhead, speed variation and YouTube-side processing; this is an estimate, not a JioFiber guarantee.
Measure your connection while other heavy network use is paused. TRAI says providers must state typical upload and download speeds in tariff offerings and points consumers to the TRAI MySpeed app or portal for measurements. Jio describes symmetrical upload and download speeds on its plans, but the actual speed depends on plan and market; that general statement does not establish the upload speed available to your connection.

Improve stability before uploading
Pause competing activity
Jio notes that each active Wi-Fi device uses bandwidth, and several devices running heavy applications can congest the connection. Pause downloads, game updates, cloud backups and video streams on other devices, or disconnect devices that are not needed while the upload runs.
Compare Wi-Fi with a wired connection
If practical, connect the computer directly to the router with Ethernet and see whether the upload is more stable. A Cat 6 Ethernet cable is an optional troubleshooting accessory, not a way to guarantee a higher subscribed speed: this test simply helps rule out Wi-Fi as a source of trouble.

Keep the upload running if it is progressing
Upload time varies with file size, available bandwidth, traffic, format and quality; YouTube notes that 4K uploads take longer than 1080p. A slow progress bar alone does not mean the upload has failed. YouTube’s guidance is: “If you’re experiencing any of these issues, we recommend that you let your video finish uploading to YouTube.” See YouTube’s guidance for a video stuck during upload.
Resume an interrupted upload
- Return to youtube.com/upload within 24 hours of the interruption.
- Select the same video file again. YouTube says this lets the upload continue where it left off.
- Leave the browser and connection undisturbed while the resumed upload progresses.
Choosing a different file will not resume the interrupted upload. If more than 24 hours have passed, the documented resume window has expired; start a fresh upload.

Reduce the file size only if necessary
If the video exceeds YouTube’s maximum, export a smaller version using video-editing software with H.264, as YouTube recommends. Choose settings that bring the file below the applicable size and duration limits, then watch or inspect the exported version to check image and audio quality before uploading. A smaller file may upload faster, but excessive compression can visibly reduce quality.
Add the uploaded video to a playlist
Playlist membership is separate from uploading: complete the video upload first, then use the current playlist controls in YouTube Studio to add it to the intended playlist. YouTube’s desktop and mobile controls can change, so confirm the available workflow in Studio rather than relying on an outdated click-by-click guide.

JioFiber data-use note for frequent large uploads
Jio’s prepaid service terms cite 3300 GB in a 30-day recharge cycle as a threshold that may be treated as misuse of unlimited benefits on applicable plans. This is not a per-video upload limit, and it should not be assumed to apply to every Jio plan. If you upload very large volumes repeatedly, check the terms attached to your own plan.
