To enhance equipment in Dragon’s Dogma 2, speak to a weaponsmith or armorer at a forge and choose the enhancement option. The menu shows the gold and materials required, plus the expected stat changes. The first enhancement costs gold; later tiers also require item-specific materials. Smithing style affects which stats improve, so check the preview before you confirm.
How to enhance equipment
- Visit a settlement forge and speak with a weaponsmith or armorer.
- Choose the equipment-enhancement option.
- Select the weapon or armor piece and the tier you want to apply.
- Check the displayed cost, required materials, and stat changes. Confirm only if the result suits the item and you have the resources to spend.

What enhancements cost
The first enhancement requires gold alone. Later tiers require gold and materials; the specific items and amounts depend on the equipment and upgrade stage. The guides describe up to three enhancement tiers, with later requirements becoming more demanding. Check the in-game menu for the current item’s exact cost rather than treating another item’s recipe as a general price list. Prima Games’ guide also describes the three-tier process.

PC Gamer’s March 2024 example lists the Fluted Bow’s costs as follows. These figures apply to that bow in the guide, not to all equipment.

How smithing style changes the result
Smithing styles favor different stats rather than producing one identical upgrade. PC Gamer characterizes Vermundian smithing as balanced and Battahli smithing as strength-oriented. Treat those descriptions as general tendencies: the available guides do not establish a complete, current table of every style’s exact modifiers. The item-level preview is the best way to see what a particular smith will change.

Choose based on the equipment’s role and the stats your vocation or build needs. A strength-focused weapon and a magick-focused staff may call for different choices. There is no universally best style for every piece of gear.

Because later enhancements consume equipment-specific materials, consider whether the item is worth investing in before using a hard-to-replace resource. Compare the previewed stat gain with the material cost and your other equipment needs; you can wait to enhance if you would rather save those materials.
