Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsEnter the seed in the world-creation settings before you select Create. In the documented Java Edition redesign, the field is on the World tab. In Bedrock, check Advanced for world-generation settings; the exact field location can vary by version and device.
Enter a seed in Java Edition
- Open Minecraft’s new-world creation screen.
- Open the World tab and enter the seed in the seed field.
- Choose Create to generate the world.
Mojang described the seed field on the World tab in its announcement of a revised Java world-creation interface. That announcement documents the redesigned interface, but does not establish that every Java release uses identical labels or layout: Mojang’s Java snapshot announcement.
Enter a seed in Bedrock Edition
- From the main menu, select Play > Worlds > Create new world, the route given in Minecraft Help’s Bedrock world-creation instructions.
- In the new-world settings, open Advanced and look among the world-generation options for the seed field.
- Type the seed, then create the world.
Mojang’s 1.21.80 release notes identify an Advanced tab for world-generation options, including Flat World, but do not explicitly confirm the seed field’s precise location on every platform. If you do not see it there, check the other world-generation settings before creating the world: Bedrock 1.21.80 release notes.
What to do if the seed field is missing
- Check whether you are playing Java or Bedrock; their world-creation screens are organized differently.
- Look for the world-generation settings and tabs before choosing Create. Labels and available options can differ by platform and version.
- For Bedrock, the 1.18.30 release notes say the updated Create New World experience rolled out gradually across supported platforms. A device or release may therefore show a different layout: Bedrock 1.18.30 release notes.
Type the seed exactly
A seed guides world generation. Bedrock 1.18.30 documented support for signed 64-bit numeric seeds from -9223372036854775808 to 9223372036854775807. Those release notes also said non-numeric seed inputs produced the same seeds as Java Edition in that release. These are version-specific notes, not a guarantee about every older version: Mojang’s 1.18.30 notes and Mojang’s 22w11a snapshot notes.
