That answers the availability question, not the fantasy one. His limited practice participation and tiny recent workload point to a low-volume role, so he is a speculative depth option—not a routine redraft start—while Chig Okonkwo is available.
What his injury status means for this week
RotoWire’s October 2 update said Sinnott carried no injury designation for Washington’s October 4 game against Indianapolis. The Commanders’ official injury report listed him as limited in the Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday practice sessions; its table did not specify a game status or label an injury for him. Taken together, the dated reports indicate he appears cleared to play, but check final team news because availability can change.
Even if active, Sinnott’s playing status does not establish that he will get enough routes or targets to help a fantasy lineup. Treat injury clearance and fantasy opportunity as separate questions.
What Sinnott has produced so far
His first two NFL seasons have yielded limited fantasy production. FantasyData’s player-level season totals show 5 receptions, 28 receiving yards, and one touchdown in 17 games in 2024, followed by 11 receptions, 114 yards, and one touchdown in 16 games in 2025.

FantasyData also notes that Sinnott saw his most sustained involvement over the final four games of 2025, after Zach Ertz’s late-season injury. Even then, he averaged 1.8 catches, 18.3 yards, and 2.7 fantasy points per game. That stretch shows a modest increase in involvement, not a dependable weekly floor. How much opportunity does he have now?
RotoWire’s live usage display, accessed October 4, 2026, listed 37 routes, two targets, and a 39% route rate for Sinnott. These are a snapshot, not a season-end total or projection. The same display includes Chig Okonkwo and John Bates, so Sinnott is sharing a tight-end group rather than holding an established featured role. Source: RotoWire player usage and news.
Rank #2
Recent game results offer little reason to assume an immediate workload jump: RotoWire records no stat for Sinnott on September 13 and one catch for six yards on one target in Washington’s September 20 loss to Dallas.
A new route menu is a possibility, not proof of a breakout
FantasyData’s July 2026 camp discussion says Washington’s tight ends were working through a wider variety of routes under offensive coordinator David Blough. Sinnott described running routes from outside receiver alignments, including ins, corners, options, and flats. That points to a possible broader role, but route variety at camp does not demonstrate regular-season volume or production. FantasyData characterized a path to streaming relevance as dependent on an Okonkwo injury; Bates is another competitor.

Should you start Sinnott in fantasy?
Redraft leagues
Keep him on a watch list or use him as deep-league bench depth. With his current target evidence limited and Okonkwo in the mix, there is not a strong case to start Sinnott routinely. Before considering him for a weekly lineup, look for a meaningful increase in routes, multiple targets in consecutive games, or a change in Okonkwo’s availability.
Dynasty leagues
Sinnott’s age and 2024 second-round draft capital can make him a speculative hold in deep formats, but that pedigree should not outweigh two seasons of modest production and the addition of competition. Whether he is worth a roster spot depends on bench size, scoring, and waiver alternatives; there is no universal hold-or-drop answer.
Quick Recap

What to check before making a lineup decision
- Confirm his status: Check the latest Washington practice and game-status updates. The October 2 clearance is specific to the October 4 matchup.
- Look beyond active status: Compare his routes, route participation, and target volume with his recent usage. A player can be available without having a fantasy-relevant role.
- Check the other tight ends: Okonkwo’s and Bates’s availability and usage affect Sinnott’s opportunity. An Okonkwo absence would change the calculation, but reassess the target distribution rather than assuming Sinnott inherits a full workload.
- Weigh your alternative: Compare Sinnott with the tight ends on your bench or waiver wire, accounting for your scoring format and the opportunity cost of the lineup spot.
