Raise Riolu’s Friendship, then check for its evolution option during the day. In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Riolu evolves into Lucario when both conditions are met; the guides reviewed do not give a confirmed numeric Friendship threshold.
Steps to evolve Riolu into Lucario
- Keep Riolu in your party and build Friendship. Nintendo Life lists exploring with Riolu, battling, using it to break Mega Crystals and obstacles, and feeding it berries as ways to raise Friendship. Nintendo Life’s Friendship guide describes these activities but does not quantify how much each one contributes.
- Check during the day. The guides identify daytime as a condition for Riolu’s evolution. The Pokémon Company explains that the game’s Wild Zones can be explored by day or night in its adventure overview.
- Select the evolution option when it appears. Game8 and Gamer Guides report that the option becomes available through the party menu once the requirement is met: see Game8’s Riolu guide and Gamer Guides’ Lucario guide.
If Riolu is not ready to evolve
Keep building Friendship and check the party menu again during the day. The reviewed guides do not establish an exact Friendship threshold or a guaranteed number of battles, berries, or other actions, so no particular action count guarantees the prompt will appear.
What the guides establish
- Riolu evolves into Lucario in Pokémon Legends: Z-A; Nintendo Life lists the Pokémon and its evolution in its Lumiose Pokédex guide.
- The reported requirements are high Friendship and daytime.
- Exploring, battling, breaking Mega Crystals or obstacles, and feeding berries are reported Friendship-raising activities, but the available guides do not compare their speed.
The Pokémon Company’s gameplay overview provides general game context; it does not specify Riolu’s Friendship threshold.
