Moss Grotto is Hornet’s starting area, and its route through the Ruined Chapel leads to Bone Bottom after the Moss Mother fight. Weavenest Atla branches off the Grotto’s eastern edge through a Needolin door. This guide covers the documented route, key Atla pickups and encounters, and the Berry Picking and Silk and Soul quest connections. It is a checklist of the named objectives established by the available area guides, not a guaranteed room-by-room 100% inventory.
Moss Grotto: starting route and Chapel boss
Hornet wakes in Moss Grotto, a secluded, moss-covered lowland area of Pharloom. The main progression route climbs to the Ruined Chapel. A bench is available on the Chapel’s lower level; ascending to its upper level locks Hornet into the Moss Mother encounter. Defeating the boss opens the route onward to Bone Bottom. The area reference describes this Chapel fight as part of the ordinary progression route.
Grotto items and nearby targets
The area reference lists two Mossberries and a Frayed Rosary String in Moss Grotto, and notes that Marrowmaw drops a Beast Shard. Treat these as named area features rather than proof that every pickup or act-specific item is included.
The Moss Druid’s Berry Picking wish needs three Mossberries. Two can be found in Moss Grotto, but the quest is not limited to those two locations; additional berries are available elsewhere.

Berry Picking: collect three Mossberries
PC Gamer’s Mossberry guide says the Moss Druid asks for three berries. It identifies two in Moss Grotto and a further berry in a hidden space beneath the Druid’s dwelling in Mosshome. Several possible third berries exist, and the Druid will accept extra berries after the request is complete.
- Near the feeding grubs: Jump up the nearby rock ledges and strike the hanging berry.
- Before the Chapel fight: A berry hangs on the approach to the Chapel and Moss Mother. The guide describes using a down-strike bounce off a diving enemy to reach it.
- Under the Moss Druid’s dwelling: Search the hidden space beneath the dwelling in Mosshome for another option.
Hand in three berries to satisfy Berry Picking. You do not need to find every available berry for this wish.

Enter Weavenest Atla from eastern Moss Grotto
At the easternmost end of Moss Grotto, use the Needolin on the door to enter Weavenest Atla. The Needolin must be played each time Hornet crosses the doorway; opening it once does not make it a permanently open passage. The Weavenest Atla area reference also notes that the area’s power room runs its lamps and the lift between the upper and lower sections.
Orient yourself and activate the lift
- Enter from the east side of Moss Grotto by playing the Needolin at the door.
- Locate and activate Atla’s power room. This powers the lamps and the lift.
- Use the lift to travel between levels while searching both halves of the area.
Atla’s northeast has built, artificial corridors; its southwest is wetter, moss-covered, and occupied by fauna from the Grotto. That change in environment helps orient the search.

Weavenest Atla completion checklist
The area reference names the following prominent people, encounters, and pickups. It does not establish that this list covers every hidden item, interaction, or act-specific marker.
- Eva: The Atla NPC is associated with Hunter Crest upgrades and Vesticrest. The area entry also lists Sylphsong as a reward for binding Eva; exact upgrade availability depends on the relevant interaction and progression.
- Moss Mothers: The Atla encounter is associated with the Weavelight reward.
- Mask Shard: In the easternmost room, break a wall to reach a short platforming challenge leading to the shard.
- Rune Harp: Found in an archive-like room just before the Mask Shard challenge.
- Spool Fragment: The documented route starts north of the bench and passes two Marrowmaw.
- Snare Setter: In the room associated with the Spool Fragment route; reaching the pickup requires Faydown Cloak to double jump.
- Mossberry: One is listed among Atla’s area features.
Reach the Spool Fragment and Snare Setter
From the bench, take the entrance to the north and follow the passage past two Marrowmaw. The area reference places the Spool Fragment route there and says the Snare Setter requires Faydown Cloak’s double jump. If you have not acquired that ability, mark the pickup and return when you can make the jump.

Find the Rune Harp and Mask Shard
Search the archive-like room before the eastern challenge for the Rune Harp. Continue east, find and break the wall in the easternmost room, then complete the short platforming challenge to reach the Mask Shard.

The Snare Setter is also one of four components for the later Silk and Soul wish; it is not a requirement for entering Atla. PC Gamer’s Silk and Soul route describes entering Atla through the Needolin door, descending the lift, jumping above the right-hand door and lift shaft, then locating a hidden passage overhead. The area reference says Faydown Cloak is needed for the pickup.

Keep the Moss Mother encounters distinct
There are two relevant references to Moss Mother encounters, and they should not be mistaken for the same progression event. The Chapel fight is the boss that opens the route toward Bone Bottom. The Grotto area entry separately labels a Moss Mother encounter as Act 3 only. Atla’s Moss Mothers encounter is another distinct entry and is associated with Weavelight. Act labels matter when comparing area lists across progression states.
The Ruined Chapel reference identifies the Chapel Maid as the Chapel’s caretaker, but the available area information does not establish an optional reward or special interaction to add to this route.
