To find a Roblox mesh ID, select the specific MeshPart in Roblox Studio and check its MeshId property in the Properties window. If the value begins with rbxassetid://, the mesh ID is the number after that prefix. Select the MeshPart itself—not just its parent Model—because a Model can contain multiple meshes.
Find the MeshId on an object already in your place
- Open your place in Roblox Studio. If Explorer is not visible, open it from Studio’s window controls.
- In Explorer, expand the relevant Model if necessary. Select the MeshPart whose geometry you want to identify. You can also select it in the viewport.
- Open the Properties window from the Home toolbar or Window menu. Properties shows the selected instance’s settings.
- In the Properties filter, type
MeshId, or scroll to that property. Copy its value.
A value such as rbxassetid://123456789 contains the asset ID 123456789; rbxassetid:// is the reference format, not part of the numeric ID. Roblox documents this asset reference format in its assets guide.

Make sure you have the mesh, not its container
A Model ID identifies a model asset or container; it does not necessarily identify an individual mesh inside it. Imported meshes in Studio are represented by MeshPart instances, and an imported file may produce a Model containing one or more MeshParts. Expand the Model and inspect the particular MeshPart you need. Roblox explains the imported structure in its Studio Importer documentation.

If you are looking for an asset in Studio
The Asset Manager shows assets imported into the currently open game. The Toolbox covers assets imported into Studio more broadly and includes Creator Store assets. If the asset is already inserted into your place, selecting its MeshPart and reading MeshId is the direct way to identify the mesh reference. If MeshId is missing or the asset cannot be reused
- Check the selection: confirm you selected a MeshPart, not its parent Model or another instance. Then filter Properties for
MeshId. Roblox’s Properties window documentation describes selecting instances and filtering their properties. - Check asset status and access: Roblox says assets still in moderation are not visible or usable until approved, and archived assets disappear from the website and are no longer usable or visible in games. Finding an ID alone does not guarantee another creator can use that asset; check availability and permissions in the relevant Studio workflow. These status limits are covered in the assets guide.
