Start with Sony’s current recommended price in the seller’s market, then compare the listing’s condition, warranty, return terms, included accessories and total delivered cost. Sony’s official prices can anchor the comparison, but they do not establish a universal fair price for a used PS5 Pro.
Use the current local price as your starting point
Sony’s revised recommended retail prices for the PS5 Pro took effect on April 2, 2026. The figures below are recommended prices, not guarantees of a retailer’s current price, stock or promotion.

These are Sony’s March 27, 2026 prices, effective April 2, 2026 (Sony’s price announcement). For a different territory, check the local retailer or direct.playstation.com where available, and compare in the same currency and market rather than converting a foreign listing at face value.
Do not use the original launch price as today’s benchmark. At launch in 2024, Sony listed the PS5 Pro at $699.99 in the United States, £699.99 in the United Kingdom, €799.99 in Europe and ¥119,980 in Japan. Those figures are historical; Sony’s 2026 announcement provides the current recommended prices (Sony’s 2024 launch announcement).

Compare the full deal, not just the asking price
A low sticker price is not necessarily a better deal if the console has limited recourse, missing parts or a seller who will not allow basic checks. Compare listings on the same terms:
- Sale status: new, Sony-certified refurbished or third-party used.
- Protection: warranty, return window and any conditions for using them.
- Seller and transaction: seller feedback, payment method and whether you can inspect or test the console before paying.
- What is included: controller, cables, stand and, if needed, a disc drive.
- Total cost: shipping, taxes and any accessories or replacements needed, all in the same market and currency.
Sony says, “Third-party used PlayStation products are not covered by warranty*.” Its footnote adds, “*Certified refurbished PlayStation products do include warranty.” The warranty position therefore differs by seller category; verify exactly what protection the particular listing offers rather than assuming that “refurbished” means Sony-certified (Sony’s PlayStation buying guide).

Check what the PS5 Pro listing actually includes
Sony lists the PS5 Pro as a 2TB console on its US buying page (Sony’s PS5 buying page). The launch announcement described the Pro as disc-less, with a separately sold PS5 Disc Drive available at that time. If you want to play physical discs, check current compatibility and include the drive’s cost in your comparison; do not assume one is included. Sony also says the vertical stand is sold separately.
Sony’s launch announcement says the system includes a DualSense wireless controller. For a used listing, ask the seller to confirm the controller and cables are present and working. A listing missing included equipment is not equivalent to a complete console at the same asking price; factor in the cost of replacing anything you need.

Test a used PS5 Pro before committing
Sony’s buying guide recommends checking the seller’s reputation, requesting a demonstration and inspecting the console. Use these checks before paying, ideally in person:
- Review the seller. Check ratings and feedback, and be cautious if the seller’s history or answers raise concerns.
- Request a video or in-person demonstration. Ask to see the console power on and to test its ports, buttons, internet connection and disc drive if one is included.
- Inspect the hardware and output. Check image quality, signs of overheating, physical damage, broken warranty seals and whether the serial number has been removed.
- Ask about ownership and service access. Confirm the console has not been reported lost or stolen. Sony warns that a reported device may be permanently suspended from PlayStation services.
- Confirm the seller has deactivated the console and no longer has access to it.
- Walk away if the offer or transaction feels wrong. Sony cautions buyers about offers that sound too good to be true.
If the seller will not permit reasonable testing, cannot answer basic questions or pressures you to pay before you can verify the console, the lower price does not remove the risk. For new consoles, Sony advises buying from authorized retailers to help ensure functionality, authenticity, a return policy and warranty coverage. Models, availability and offers can vary.

Decide whether the price is fair without guessing
There is no supported single “fair used price” or standard discount to apply to every PS5 Pro listing. Sony’s official pages establish recommended new prices and buyer checks, not an average for completed used sales. Condition, included items, seller protections and local market all affect the comparison.

- Identify the seller’s market and use Sony’s current local recommended price as the new-console reference.
- Compare listings with the same sale status and account for warranty, return terms, shipping, taxes and included equipment.
- For a third-party used console, complete the seller, hardware, ownership and service-access checks before judging the discount.
- Compare the total delivered cost with the value of the protection and components included. If a listing cannot be verified or offers no meaningful recourse, do not treat a low price as proof of value.
