If by “the Forest final boss” you mean the endpoint of Forest Tier 3, the boss is Bark Vader. Forest’s earlier tier bosses are Lil Bark (Tier 1) and Chadbark (Tier 2). To reach Bark Vader, enter a Tier 3 run, find and activate the boss portal on the Forest stage, then prepare for a fight that can restrict your secondary weapons and send you across the arena to deal with pylons.
Where to find the Forest boss portal
On a standard Forest stage, search the map for the boss portal and activate it when you are ready. It is separate from the progression portal that can appear after a qualifying boss victory when your selected tier has another stage. The boss portal starts the encounter; the later portal advances the run.

The timer guide says the boss portal can be activated before the standard 10-minute stage window expires. At 10:00, overtime or Final Swarm pressure begins, so you can avoid that added pressure by locating and activating the boss portal earlier. The timing information applies to standard Forest and Desert stages; see the timer guide for its account of the stage clock.
Which Forest boss counts as “final”?
Forest has a boss at each tier, so “final boss” depends on the run you mean. The Forest route guide and community wiki identify Lil Bark as the Tier 1 boss, Chadbark as the Tier 2 boss, and Bark Vader as the Tier 3 boss. This article uses “Forest final boss” to mean Bark Vader, the Tier 3 encounter.

In the described Forest and Desert route, Tier 1 has one stage, Tier 2 has two, and Tier 3 has three. Tiers are selected before a run. The guide says a Tier 1 victory followed by surviving the Final Swarm unlocks Tier 2. The Forest map guide covers the route and its Tier 3 endpoint; the community boss wiki lists the tier-to-boss mapping.
Prepare for Bark Vader
Invest in the starting weapon
A third-party Tier 3 guide recommends concentrating upgrades on your character’s starting weapon because it describes Bark Vader as restricting secondary weapons. That is a useful contingency: if your damage is spread across weapons that become unavailable, your starter may be the dependable source of damage. The exact lockout behavior is disputed, so treat this as preparation rather than a guarantee about which weapons will be usable at every moment. See the Bark Vader guide.
Build for the problem you actually have
Player discussions recommend movement speed and extra jumps to reach pylons and avoid attacks. They also suggest health, shields, or regeneration to help survive while moving between objectives. These are player-reported options, not a universally proven build. Choose according to your failure point:
- You cannot reach the pylons or dodge reliably: favor movement speed, extra jumps, and a route through the arena that does not trap you.
- You reach the objectives but die on the way or during attacks: consider more health, shields, or regeneration.
- You are losing damage during a weapon restriction: put more upgrades into the starting weapon instead of relying on secondary weapons.
Character and item availability can vary, so adapt these priorities to the options in your run. The suggestions come from player reports, including the Tier 3 Forest boss discussion.

How to handle the pylon phase
Third-party guides describe a protected phase in which pylons appear, and player discussions also mention homing projectiles and the difficulty of reaching or staying near the objectives. When Bark Vader is protected, shift your immediate focus to reaching and clearing the pylons while continuing to move and avoid attacks. Keep enough health or recovery to survive the trip between objectives rather than committing to a stationary damage exchange.
- Keep moving as the phase changes. Avoid staying still while attacks are active, and use your mobility to make progress toward the objectives.
- Route to the pylons. Prioritize reaching them during the protected phase; mobility and jumps are particularly useful if distance or attack patterns are stopping you.
- Preserve survivability between objectives. Do not spend your entire health buffer getting to the first pylon if you still need to cross the arena.
- Resume damage when the opening is available. The sources do not establish a precise current sequence for weapon availability or phase timing, so respond to what the game shows rather than relying on a promised weapon-return moment.
What is uncertain about weapon restrictions
Accounts differ on how Bark Vader’s weapon restriction works. One guide says all secondary weapons are disabled at the start; a Steam community discussion describes a weapon being removed; player reports say weapons return as pylons are cleared. Those descriptions do not establish whether every secondary weapon is affected, whether the restriction is temporary in all cases, or exactly when a weapon returns. Mechanics may also change between game versions. Build around the possibility of a restriction, but do not plan around a precise restoration point.
The available cited sources do not establish Bark Vader’s health, damage values, or a numeric timer threshold for the fight. The 10-minute figure above is the standard stage-window timing, not a verified boss-fight timer.
