Sister Splinter is in northern Shellwood. From the central bench, ride the pressure-plate elevator, cross the room at the top, then follow the platforms and bouncing blooms left to her arena. Defeating her opens the route to a Weaver statue and Cling Grip, the wall-jump ability.
Where to find Sister Splinter in Shellwood
Start at the central Shellwood bench. The route uses nearby landmarks rather than a textual map coordinate; no grid position is established.
- Step on the pressure plate just to the right of the bench and ride the elevator up.
- At the elevator’s upper destination, enter the room to the right. Move across it and climb upward.
- Take the first path to the left. Cross the platforms and strike the blooms to bounce over the brambles.
- Continue left to reach Sister Splinter’s arena.

What defeating Sister Splinter unlocks
The fight opens access to a Weaver statue where Hornet can obtain Cling Grip. The ability lets her cling to walls and jump from them, making it a progression unlock rather than a separate guaranteed item drop from the boss. Nintendo Life lists the Shellwood location and Weaver statue reward in its boss locations and rewards guide; the Nerdschalk guide also describes Cling Grip’s wall-jump function.

How Sister Splinter attacks—and how to respond
The attack labels below are descriptive, not official move names. The Hollow Knight Wiki records 310 total health and a phase change at 248 HP; those are game-reference values, and the timing of a stagger or phase transition can vary with how much damage Hornet deals.
Three tracking claw swipes
Sister Splinter hangs from the ceiling and strikes three times, shifting position over Hornet between swipes. PCGamesN describes a left-right-left sequence, while the wiki describes alternating hands. Watch for the glowing hand and dodge to the opposite side. Make evasion the priority, then counter with an upward strike when she is exposed.

Falling thorn vines
She can retreat overhead while thorn-wrapped vines descend into marked parts of the arena. The wiki records that a vine can be broken with three Needle hits; Silk Skills can clear them faster. Later portions of the fight can add more vines, including a dense wave. Break the obstacles that are pinching off your movement, but do not spend time clearing every vine if you still have room to dodge.
Flying Splinterbarks
Later in the encounter, Sister Splinter summons flying Splinterbarks. They can make an already crowded arena harder to navigate, so remove them when they interfere with safe movement. The wiki specifically notes that Silkspear can defeat them quickly; PCGamesN recommends Silkstorm as another optional way to handle the summons.

Stagger openings
After taking enough damage, Sister Splinter can fall to the arena floor. Use the opening to attack, or heal if you need to recover. There is no fixed hit count for reaching a stagger: Hornet’s damage and loadout affect when it happens.

A practical plan for the fight
- Keep jumps short while Sister Splinter is above you; jumping too high risks colliding with her.
- During the claw sequence, track the glowing hand and move away from it before looking for a counterattack.
- Use upward strikes when her position gives you a safe opening.
- Clear vines only when they meaningfully restrict movement, and deal with summoned flyers when they disrupt your dodges.
- Treat Silkstorm or Silkspear as optional tools, not required equipment. Choose what best preserves safe space in the arena.
