Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has 99 listed Jackdaw appearance options in the current independent catalog: sails, figureheads, hulls, wheels, crew attire and pets. The count comes from VULKK’s August 14, 2026 inventory guide, not from an item-count statistic published by Ubisoft. Pets are included because they appear on the ship, although you equip them from Edward’s inventory rather than the ship-appearance menu.
This guide explains how to change the Jackdaw’s look, what each slot changes visually, where appearances are obtained, and how to keep cosmetic collecting separate from upgrades that actually improve naval performance. Availability information is current to October 13, 2026; promotional and event-based unlocks can change.

What the 99 listed Jackdaw appearances include
VULKK’s catalog groups the options into six appearance-related categories. The categories are useful because each occupies a different visual slot and follows a slightly different collecting path. The figures below are VULKK’s 2026 guide totals; Ubisoft’s naval materials describe the systems but do not publish a complete item-by-item count.

Adding the six category totals (33 + 25 + 10 + 18 + 7 + 6) produces the guide’s 99-item catalog. That number should be read as a snapshot of the independent inventory, not a promise that every listed promotion, code or event remains claimable on every platform.

How to change the Jackdaw’s appearance
Harbourmaster menu route
VULKK’s practical route works from a port with a Harbourmaster, including Great Inagua:
- Dock at a port and interact with the Harbourmaster.
- Choose Upgrade Ship.
- Open the Appearance tab.
- Select the slot you want to edit—sails, figurehead, hull, wheel or crew attire—and equip an unlocked option.
The Harbourmaster screen is also where you handle the game’s functional naval systems, so check the tab label before spending resources. An appearance selection changes the presentation of the Jackdaw; it is not an upgrade purchase.
Captain’s Cabin access
Ubisoft’s May 26, 2026 naval deep dive documents a second way to customize the ship. Enter the Captain’s Cabin while Edward is not piloting the Jackdaw, then use the cabin’s appearance controls for choices such as sails and figureheads. Ubisoft also explains that several functions formerly handled in the cabin, including buying upgrades and restocking weapons, were moved to Harbourmasters. In practice, use the cabin for the documented appearance controls and the Harbourmaster route when you need the explicit Upgrade Ship → Appearance menu.
Equipping a pet
Pets are the exception to the ship-menu rule. Select the pet slot from Edward’s inventory screen, not from the Jackdaw’s Appearance tab. Once equipped, the animal is visible aboard the ship and is counted among the six appearance categories in the independent catalog.
Where to get Jackdaw ship skins and other cosmetics
The catalog associates appearances with several kinds of unlock. Treat the following as route types rather than a guarantee that every time-limited listing is active today.
Harbourmaster purchases
Some options are normal port purchases. Visit Harbourmasters as you open new ports, inspect the Appearance tab, and note which items are available before committing resources elsewhere. This is the most repeatable route because it is tied to the regular port interface rather than a one-time campaign.

Main quests and projects
Story progression and project completion account for another group of appearances. If an item is not purchasable at a Harbourmaster, check your quest and project rewards after advancing the relevant objective. Project rewards can be easy to miss when you collect the reward but do not immediately revisit the appearance menu.

Treasure maps, chests and map pieces
Some entries point to treasure maps, map fragments or specific chests. Keep unidentified maps in your inventory, compare their landmarks with the world map, and return to the Appearance tab after opening a chest. A map-related cosmetic can therefore require both finding the clue and reaching the marked location; simply owning the map does not equip the item.
Forts, naval contracts and other combat objectives
Fort activities and naval contracts are separate acquisition paths in the catalog. Finish the stated objective, claim any reward prompt, and then check the relevant appearance slot. These routes reward normal play and should not be confused with the special Legendary Ship encounters described below.
Legendary Ships
Several high-tier entries are associated with Legendary Ships, including variants tied to El Impoluto, HMS Fearless, HMS Prince and La Dama Negra. Ubisoft says surviving a Legendary Ship encounter can reward a cosmetic skin for the Jackdaw. Lead Naval Designer Guilhem Marin describes them as “the ultimate challenge one may experience in Naval combat” and warns: “Do not face them unprepared, for they require complete mastery of all the Jackdaw’s tools. Even if you defeated them in the original, do not underestimate them, for we rebuilt them to be stronger, tougher, and meaner. If you survive, you’ll get cosmetic skins for the Jackdaw to brag about your skill. Oh, and by the way, they respawn after a while.”
That warning matters for collectors. Ubisoft says the Resynced versions are stronger than those in the original game and can respawn after a while. Prepare the Jackdaw with functional upgrades before attempting these fights; the cosmetic reward does not make the encounter easier.

VULKK’s inventory includes hidden or secret vendors and obscure locations among the unlock sources. If a guide entry names a vendor rather than a Harbourmaster, search the indicated settlement or objective area instead of repeatedly checking port shops. Legendary-tier items are more likely to use this kind of difficult-to-find route, although the tier is only a rough indication and not a guarantee of the current unlock method.

Editions, codes, social campaigns and Twitch Drops
The list also separates items granted through game editions, Ubisoft codes, social campaigns and Twitch Drops. These are not automatically earned through base-game progression. An edition bonus may depend on the edition you own; a code may be single-use or region-limited; and a social or Twitch campaign may have ended. Verify the campaign’s active dates, platform eligibility and redemption instructions before treating one of these entries as obtainable now.
Local events
Local events appear as another source category. Event rewards can be restricted by territory, date or account eligibility. If an event listing has no current redemption window, record it as a historical route rather than assuming the cosmetic can still be claimed.

The guide labels appearances as Common, Rare or Legendary. Common items generally have easier or cheaper acquisition routes. Rare entries usually require more specific progression or exploration. Legendary items more often involve difficult challenges or obscure locations. These descriptions are a planning aid, not a guarantee that an item’s present-day availability or exact cost matches the label.

Clear repeatable Harbourmaster, quest and project rewards first; then schedule treasure and fort routes; finally reserve a prepared combat build for Legendary Ships and investigate any secret-vendor or event requirements. This prevents a cosmetic checklist from sending you into a high-level encounter before the ship is ready.
Cosmetics versus functional ship upgrades
Appearance and performance are separate systems. VULKK describes the cataloged vanity items as cosmetic: hulls alter color schemes without changing the vessel’s shape, and sails alter decoration and color without changing their shape or position. A new wheel, figurehead or crew outfit likewise changes presentation rather than combat statistics.
Ubisoft’s naval deep dive describes Harbourmaster upgrades as the systems that improve damage, defense or weapon capacity. Spend resources on those upgrades when you need a stronger Jackdaw; equip an appearance when you want a different look. Do not choose a hull or sail because its name suggests better armor, speed or firepower—the appearance catalog provides no such gameplay effect.
A practical collecting checklist
- Record the six slots separately so a pet is not mistaken for a ship-menu item.
- At every Harbourmaster, open Upgrade Ship and inspect Appearance after claiming new rewards.
- When Edward is ashore and not piloting, check the Captain’s Cabin for the appearance controls documented by Ubisoft.
- After a quest, project, fort, contract, treasure chest or Legendary Ship victory, verify the reward in the appropriate slot.
- Keep functional damage, defense and weapon-capacity upgrades distinct from vanity choices.
- Mark edition, code, social, Twitch and local-event entries with their platform, region and expiry conditions.
- Before a Legendary Ship attempt, improve the Jackdaw’s combat systems; the resulting skin is a reward for surviving the fight, not a performance upgrade.
What can change after publication
The 99-item figure and category breakdown are tied to VULKK’s August 14, 2026 guide. Ubisoft’s official materials establish the cabin, Harbourmaster and Legendary Ship systems but do not publish a complete official catalog. Promotional rewards, Twitch Drops, local events, edition contents, platform availability and merchant listings can change independently, so check the live redemption or store information for your region before planning around a limited unlock.
