“Star Destroyer” can mean different things in Fortnite. The Battle Royale portal that let a player control a Star Destroyer’s turbolaser was a limited Galactic Battle feature announced for May 29, 2025; the reviewed official sources do not confirm it is available now. In LEGO Fortnite Odyssey, the Star Destroyer is a crashed ship you can find in the Frostlands. Creative and UEFN islands may also use creator-placed Star Wars vehicles and turrets.
Which Star Destroyer are you looking for?
| Fortnite mode | What it refers to | Where to start |
|---|---|---|
| Battle Royale: Galactic Battle | A temporary portal to a Star Destroyer’s control room | Check whether the feature is active in the live game. During the announced event, one portal spawned per match. |
| LEGO Fortnite Odyssey | A crashed Star Destroyer and exploration site | Travel to the Star Wars island and look for the smoke plume in the Frostlands. |
| Creative or UEFN island | Creator-placed Star Wars vehicles or turrets | Follow the island’s instructions; device availability and setup depend on the creator’s island. |
Battle Royale: can you still use the Star Destroyer?
Epic announced Star Destroyer Bombardment as part of Galactic Battle. Beginning May 29, 2025, one portal to the ship’s control room was to appear in each match. The first player to reach it could take control of the ship’s turbolaser and attack the island from above. Epic’s announcement does not give a fixed portal coordinate, so there is no supported POI or map location to follow.
The announcement said the Star Wars Battle Pass ran from May 2 through June 7, 2025, Eastern Time. As of October 8, 2026, the official sources cited here document that original limited-time feature but do not confirm a return. Check the current game’s announcements or live match before looking for the portal; these sources do not establish that it is playable now. Epic’s Galactic Battle announcement provides the original event details, while StarWars.com’s 2026 Fortnite Star Wars overview is additional context, not confirmation that the portal has returned.
LEGO Fortnite Odyssey: how to find the crashed Star Destroyer
1. Reach the Star Wars island
Start on the Star Wars island rather than trying to reach the crash site from the original island. LEGO describes the latter route as a much harder journey.

2. Get to a high point and look for smoke
The crash site is in the cold Frostlands. Climb to a high vantage point and scan the horizon for the large plume of smoke; LEGO identifies it as the key landmark for locating the ship.
3. Prepare for the cold and Imperial enemies
Bring a cold-resistance option and strong weapons and shields. LEGO lists Spicy Peppers, a Spicy Burger, and an Inner Fire Charm. Its guide says one Spicy Pepper grants two minutes of Cold Resistance and a Spicy Burger grants ten minutes.

If you saw a Star Destroyer-related vehicle or turret in a creator-made island, you are in a different context from the Battle Royale portal event. Epic’s documentation describes Star Wars spawner devices that place vehicles on an island at the spawner’s location and orientation. The documented devices include X-wing, Imperial TIE Fighter, Naboo N-1 Starfighter, Armored Assault Tank, DF.9 Turret, and Turbolaser Turret.
Epic describes the Turbolaser Turret as controllable, with two parallel heavy laser cannons, player-controlled pitch, and 360-degree yaw. The documented Star Wars vehicles are single-seat. These devices help creators build island experiences; their presence does not establish that a Star Destroyer is available in standard Battle Royale. See Epic’s Star Wars vehicle device documentation.
