Ichiro’s Key is beneath the eastern (right-hand) house at the farm. Go around to the house’s east/back side, crawl through the low opening in its foundation, and pick up the key. Then return to the gravesite and use it on the box. You can skip the other marked search spots.
How to reach the key
- Unlock the quest. Complete “From Spark to Flame” and access the Hideout. Ubisoft says “Thrown to the Dogs” becomes available after that point and begins at Tennoji Temple outside Osaka. The quest was made available to all players in Title Update 1.0.5, announced May 26, 2025. Ubisoft’s Title Update 1.0.5 notes.
- Follow the dog to the farm. The quest starts near the dog and gravesite by Tennoji Temple. Follow the dog; the route includes a bandit encounter. Walkthroughs describe the objectives as petting the dog, following it, talking to Takako, getting the key, and examining the gravesite. Game8’s quest walkthrough.
- Go to the eastern house. At the farm’s key search area, head to the house on the right/east side. Circle around to its east or back side and look near the foundation for a low opening.
- Crawl beneath the house. Get prone, crawl through the opening, and collect Ichiro’s Key from the crawlspace. The other marked search areas are not required to find it. GamesRadar+’s key-location guide and Destructoid’s walkthrough describe the crawlspace route.
- Return to the gravesite. Go back to the original gravesite where you found the dog and use Ichiro’s Key on the box to complete the quest.
What happens after you open the box?
Completing “Thrown to the Dogs” unlocks Tsuki-maru as a pet at your Hideout, according to Ubisoft’s Title Update 1.0.5 notes.
Takako’s choice at the farm
Walkthroughs report that the farm encounter can end in a fight with Takako and her guards or in them leaving. The key objective follows either outcome; this choice does not change where Ichiro’s Key is found. These encounter details are guide-reported rather than described in Ubisoft’s update notes.
