The list should then show Pokémon with the favorite star. The filter only finds marked Pokémon; it does not change their status.
Find favorited Pokémon in four taps
Niantic’s Pokémon GO Help Center lists favorite as the inventory search term for Pokémon you have marked with the Favorite control. Use the spelling shown in the search syntax—favorite—rather than relying on a translated or alternate spelling.

- Start in Map View, the main game screen.
- Tap Main Menu.
- Tap Pokémon to open your collection.
- Tap the magnifying-glass button at the top of the Pokémon list.
- Enter
favoritein the search field.
Your inventory should now display the Pokémon that are marked as favorites. You can open one of the results to inspect its summary or perform another permitted inventory action. The search does not add or remove a favorite mark; it simply locates matching entries.

If a Pokémon is not appearing because it has not been marked yet, add the mark from that Pokémon’s profile:

- Open the Pokémon from your list.
- On its profile or summary screen, tap the star control.
- Return to the inventory and search for
favoriteif you want to verify that it is included.
The star indicates the Pokémon’s favorite status. If the star is already active, tapping it is the status control rather than a separate search or sorting command.
Why the favorite mark matters
Favoriting is an inventory-safety measure. The Pokémon GO Help Center explains that a favorited Pokémon cannot be transferred while it remains on the favorites list. This is intended to prevent an accidental transfer of a valuable, rare, or sentimental Pokémon. Before a favorite can be transferred, it has to be removed from the favorites list.
The mark does not make a Pokémon stronger, change its appraisal, or alter battle statistics. It is a protection and organization label attached to that individual Pokémon.

What to check if favorite shows no results
Confirm that you opened the Pokémon inventory
The search field described by Niantic is inside the Pokémon collection. From Map View, follow Main Menu → Pokémon; do not enter a search field belonging to another game screen.
Use the magnifying-glass search control
The inventory search is opened with the magnifying-glass button at the top of the list. If the list is scrolled, return your attention to the control at the top before entering the term.
Enter the documented term exactly
Type favorite into the inventory search field. The official syntax uses the American spelling, even though explanatory text may use “Favourite Pokémon” in some help-center wording.

Verify the star on the Pokémon’s profile
Search results can only include Pokémon that have actually been marked. Open the Pokémon’s profile and check its star control. If it was never selected, mark it there and run the inventory search again.

Allow for interface changes
Niantic can move buttons or adjust labels in a later Pokémon GO update. The path and control names above follow the Help Center instructions available for this procedure; a slightly different placement does not change the underlying sequence of opening the Pokémon inventory, opening its search, and entering the favorite filter.

- Favorite Pokémon: individual Pokémon marked with the star on their profiles. These are the entries found by searching the inventory for
favorite. - Saved search shortcuts: saved terms or search presets that a player may keep for repeated use.
This article’s procedure concerns the first meaning—the Pokémon marked with the profile star. A community discussion has used the question “where did search favorites go?” when talking about saved search terms, but that report does not establish a current, official location for those shortcuts. Do not expect the favorite inventory filter to display or manage saved search presets.
A practical workflow for protecting important Pokémon
Mark it when you decide it matters
When you identify a Pokémon that you do not want to transfer accidentally, open its profile and tap the star immediately. This creates the protection before you begin bulk inventory cleanup.
Confirm the mark before managing storage
Open the Pokémon list, use the magnifying glass, and enter favorite. Finding the Pokémon in the filtered list confirms that the star mark is present.

Use the filtered list as a review queue
The resulting list gives you a focused view of marked Pokémon. Review those entries when checking which Pokémon are protected, rather than scanning the entire collection manually.
Remove the mark before a deliberate transfer
If you later decide that a favorited Pokémon should be transferred, first remove it from the favorites list. The transfer safeguard remains in place while the favorite mark is active.

- Start from Map View.
- Open Main Menu → Pokémon.
- Tap the magnifying glass at the top of the collection.
- Enter
favorite. - Check the Pokémon’s profile star when confirming or adding a mark.
- Remember that a favorited Pokémon cannot be transferred until it is removed from the favorites list.
The button placement or wording can change with an app update, but the purpose of the filter remains the same: it locates Pokémon carrying the Favorite mark; it does not apply that mark itself.
