To find the lost shipment in Brighter Shores, take the case from Cohen in Brannof’s Dining Room in Hopeport, follow the leads through Captain Shirker and the Hooked Hand, then use a written order hidden in a Fetid Flounder to track the buyer to the Thieves’ Den. You need Fishing level 25 to catch the fish, and you must speak with the man in the blue waistcoat before the Monobrow Sam disguise route will progress.
Start the quest with Cohen
Go to Brannof Hall, west of Town Square in Hopeport, and enter Brannof’s Dining Room. Speak with Cohen to learn that a shipment of Carthian plumbatae has gone missing. His leads send you to Captain Shirker aboard the Vincible and to people at the Hooked Hand. See Destructoid’s quest guide.

Follow the leads to Monobrow Sam
Question Captain Shirker
Find the Vincible at the East Waterfront. Remove any Guard clothes before speaking with Captain Shirker. Invite him to a meal at the Delectable Dab and work through the conversation choices until the shipment comes up. The conversation points you toward a man in a blue waistcoat in Town Square, as described by Dexerto’s walkthrough.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsSpeak with the man in the blue waistcoat
Find the man in Town Square and finish his dialogue. He gives you a lead involving Monobrow Sam and sends you to the hairdresser to take on that disguise. This conversation is an important quest step: if you skip it, later progress toward the den may stall.

Get the Hooked Hand lead
At the Hooked Hand, speak to Wellington and Nelson without Guard clothes. Choose the dialogue about selling Carthian plumbatae. Harris Slant then directs you to The Illusion and explains the secret message sent through a fish.
Catch the Fetid Flounder and send the order
Catch the fish at Overgrown Pond
Travel along Sea Road and head north to Overgrown Pond. Catch a Fetid Flounder there. The walkthroughs and a Steam Community discussion report Fishing level 25 as the requirement; Destructoid also specifies a Fishing Spear.
Prepare and sell the fish
- Collect paper and a quill from Brannof’s Chamber.
- Write an order for the Carthian plumbatae.
- Take the note and Fetid Flounder to the Frequently Fresh Fish Stall on Eel Street.
- Sell the fish to the fishmonger, then hide beside the nearby bush.
The note goes with the fish as part of the order-delivery setup; selling the fish triggers the next part of the trail.
Follow the buyer to the Thieves’ Den
When the Furtive Stranger takes the fish, follow them through Wilhope Crossing and Wilhope Passage to Monob Row. At the door, say that you are Monobrow Sam to get inside. Once through, re-equip for combat and defeat the two thieves in the den.

What to do if the quest stops progressing
If the door or quest log seems stuck after you have followed the other leads, return to the man in the blue waistcoat in Town Square and complete his dialogue. A Steam player reported reaching the den route without talking to him, then getting stuck; the player later confirmed that completing the waistcoat conversation enabled progress. This is a community-reported troubleshooting tip, not an official bug notice. See the Steam discussion.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Preparation, combat advice, and reported rewards
Fishing requirement
Fishing level 25 is reported as necessary for the Fetid Flounder. Destructoid also lists a Fishing Spear. These are in-game requirements and equipment.
Combat recommendations vary
Guides disagree on how much combat preparation to bring, and their figures are advice rather than confirmed quest gates. Destructoid recommends Guard 20+ and Guard equipment 15+; Dexerto recommends Guard 25 and suggests healing potions and Immunity. Destructoid also lists 11 Silver and 40 Copper as a preparation figure, but that comes from its 2024 guide and has not been verified as a current requirement.
Rewards cited by a 2024 guide
Dexerto’s November 7, 2024 guide reports 15,600 Fisherman XP, 17,200 Guard XP, and a Rare Carthian Plumbatae as rewards. These figures have not been independently checked in the current game.
Best Value
The available walkthroughs and discussions are dated 2024–2025, and no official current quest documentation or patch note establishes whether later game updates changed these steps or figures.
