To find the entrance to the prison in Poppy Playtime Chapter 4: Safe Haven, burn the rope at Checkpoint 1A with the Flare Hand, repel the Smiling Critter horde with flares, then climb the toy pile beside the locked prison doors. The open door at the top leads through caves to a train; retrieve the Utility Room Key, power the train, and board it to reach the cell blocks.
Leave the elevator and open Checkpoint 1A
- Exit the elevator into Loading Bay 1E and follow the route toward the control room, continuing into Checkpoint 1A.
- Equip the Flare Hand and shoot the rope holding the checkpoint door shut. Once the rope burns away, pass through the door.
Get past the locked prison entrance
Continue to the main prison entrance. The doors are locked, and the alarm triggers a rush of small Smiling Critters. Aim the Flare Hand at the approaching toys to scare them away; the route calls for repelling them with flares, not defeating them in conventional combat.
When you can move forward, climb the large pile of toys beside the prison doors. Enter the open door at the top of the pile to reach the caves.
Cross the caves to the train
Use the Purple Hand launch pads to cross the platforms. Walk across the beam over the pit, then swing across the gap to reach the train area. Ollie calls during this cave sequence.

Retrieve the Utility Room Key
- Move the Playtime blocks into a staircase leading up to the train.
- Climb onto the train, then jump to the suspended open car.
- Follow the car to the discarded toy and collect the Utility Room Key.
Power the train and enter the cell blocks
- Use the Utility Room Key to enter the utility room.
- Connect to socket 1 and route the connection around both power poles.
- Continue to socket 2 at the back of the caboose. This opens the train’s rear door.
- Board the train to trigger the ride into the cell blocks. This completes the prison entrance sequence; the puzzles beyond that point are part of the cell-block section.
Chapter context
Safe Haven is Chapter 4 of Poppy Playtime, released January 30, 2025, according to Mob Entertainment’s official Chapter 4 page. The page describes the story as continuing deeper into the Playtime Co. factory and says the free base game must be downloaded before playing the DLC. Its warning fits the route: “Every step will test your courage, every puzzle will challenge your mind, and every corner may be your last.”
