Find the seed in the Aternos dashboard
- Sign in to the Aternos account that manages the server.
- Open Worlds and locate the world you want.
- Click Options for that world, then open its
level.datfile. - Read the seed value shown in the file.
This is the route in Aternos’s Using seeds help article. It does not specify a Minecraft edition for this dashboard method.
Alternative for Java: use the website console
With the server online, enter /seed in the Aternos website console. This alternative comes from a July 10, 2019 answer by an Aternos Engineer on the Aternos Community forum and specifically refers to Java. Prefer the dashboard instructions when available; the forum answer is older guidance, not a documented Bedrock method.

If you are a player, not the server owner
The documented dashboard route requires access to the managed world. Ask the server owner or administrator to check the seed and share it with you. The cited Aternos guidance does not establish a way to reveal a private server’s seed without authorized access.

Why you should not change the seed to find it
Aternos explains that Minecraft world generation is based on the seed: using the same seed produces the same world. However, changing the seed field on an existing world is not recommended. Existing chunks and newly generated chunks may meet with unusual terrain generation. Use the value shown for the world rather than changing it as a way to inspect or recover the seed.
